Coneygar Lodge is still family run. Today Coneygar has a fantastic team of caring, dedicated staff (some of staff have worked here since 1999!), a really strong management team.
With its unique multi-building layout, set in lovely gardens above Bridport, Coneygar Lodge has a real homely, community feel. With 22 en-suite rooms, Coneygar is the antidote to the corporate 'care hotels' and can offer respite as well as permanent care places, with care tailored to the individual, even down to individual meal plans. The home is also committed to end-of-life care too.
Coneygar welcomes anyone to drop in and look around at anytime - the whole team is proud of the home and care they provide.
Our fees start from £1550 per week inclusive (the only extras being things like a daily paper, hair dressing, chiropody etc).

Now, she has all the benefits of a modern-day care home - food, lodging, medical care, etc - but, just as importantly for her, company, social interaction, and afternoon activities. The staff are excellent - always going the extra mile for residents and visitors alike (a cup of tea and slice of cake is always welcome after a 94 mile drive to visit my mother). Having a mother-in-law also in residential care owned by one of the "big boys", the sense of intimacy in this family-run independent home is refreshing, where decisions are made on-site, and not governed by people in white ivory towers. My mother died very recently and I would like to thank the management and staff at Coneygar Lodge where she spent a very happy last year and half. She was looked after impeccably and was able to live in the way that suited her - something that was important to her and to her family. She had lived alone for many years and very much appreciated the way she was able to continue in that style but with the added security and care Coneygar Lodge gave her. Her family were not only made welcome but included in the family feeling of the home. My mother often said she couldn’t have found anywhere better. She was delighted with her room which was light and airy, with washing and loo facilities en suite. A notable cook herself, she praised the food and was happy that she was able to eat in her own room. She liked the way she was treated, hands off if possible, but with gentle personal care when she needed it. Staff picked up on infection or illness quickly and acted on it at once. Most importantly, she was able to end her days in her own place, with her own things around her, and with familiar people caring for her.

I started working at Coneygar back in 2015 as a senior carer. Taking on my current role as Resident of the day co coordinator, in September 2024.Time that is set aside for each individual resident and spent doing something that they would really like to do. Residents are actively encouraged to participate in deciding what it is they would like to do and how they would like to spend the time. It is their day after all.
For example, a morning out visiting a local farm shop, having a coffee and a chat, perhaps a bus ride to Weymouth, or a pub visit. Lunch out at The Hive cafe at Burton or buying some flowers from the garden centre to plant in window boxes outside your room. Maybe a pampering session at home at Coneygar, or the comfort of having someone spend time with you in the garden or whilst you relax in your room. Time to share what’s on your mind and for us to get to know you that little bit more. It’s entirely up to you and sometimes the simplest of things, like going for a drive in the car, can make all the difference.Feedback from our residents is that My Day sessions are both highly valued and enjoyable and contribute to an overall sense of well-being. The residents look forward to these ‘dates in their diaries’ and often talk with one another about what they have done.
There are also added benefits, for example in terms of increasing mobility and social interaction. Alongside helping our residents stay connected to the wider community of Bridport and the wonderful Dorset coastline, with its glorious sea views.

I have worked at Coneygar Lodge since 2011 and am proud to be the Head Housekeeper and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead. I am responsible for ensuring the home remains clean, safe, and welcoming, while working closely with residents to make sure their rooms reflect their individuality and feel personal to them.
As IPC Lead, I carry out regular infection prevention and control audits, identifying areas for improvement to help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety throughout the home.
