Just wanted to say how lovely it is to see my aunt so happy and well. She is now mixing with other residents joining in activities and watching TV (she always refused to in the past).

I was very pleased with the care that mum receives at Moorhaven. I find the staff very friendly and efficient. The staff have a demanding job but carry it out extremely well. I know mum is safe. I would highly recommend Moorhaven.

When I arrived in February I did not have much will to survive. I had not been eating much or taking care of myself for some time and was not communicating well. The staff at Moorhaven have helped me turn this around. I now look forward to getting out of bed, I get dressed every day and eat 3 meals
a day, the food is lovely. I have gone from 6st to 9st and I am happy again. The surroundings and facilities are great. I have my hair/beard/nails trimmed and am enjoying my new life. My key worker has been a godsend.

My father, aged 92, spent the last six months of his life at Moorhaven. The biggest compliment I can give is that having spent the previous 63 years of his life in the same house my father referred to Moorhaven as 'home' within a couple of months of moving in. Indeed, he was flourishing there at the
time of his passing, and he was enjoying his afternoon visits to the garden in particular.

My brother in law has been at Moorhaven since Feb this year. We as a family can't thank the staff enough for their care. We have seen such a difference in him. When he first went there from hospital he would not eat or get out of bed. Now he's up and dressed every day and eating for England. The staff
are always friendly and willing to answer any questions.

My aunt had found living alone at home increasingly difficult and following a weekend disaster when her central heating and electricity failed, Moorhaven accepted her on a Sunday with only a few hours notice. The delay was me getting her there as I live 150 miles away in Surrey. The staff were all very
welcoming and she quickly found her 'feet' and joined in the routine, including the fun afternoon singalongs and other entertainment. Being so distant, I was particularly grateful for the updates and communication from management and staff. When visiting I found the facilities to be everything that could be expected, clean, tidy and efficiently run with attentive and friendly staff on hand. They handled their recent refurbishment with little impact to residents and coped well with the additional Coronavirus restrictions from March. My aunt sadly passed away with dementia in April, but will be thankful to Moorhaven, as am I, for the last two years of her life she happily spent there.

My elderly aunt was taken into this care home in April 2019 until she passed away new years day 2020. The staff within this establishment were superb, very attentive, very caring towards my aunt. My wife and I could not fault the care and services that Moorhaven provide.
The staff were the most caring
that I/we had ever come across.
Her room was wonderful and was very comfortable for her needs.
I/we would highly recommend this care home to anyone within the area.
The new manageress and deputy manageress were fantastic.
With regards to this care home, it is going through a refurbishment to update the decor and furnishing at this point in time to bring it up to date and refresh the home.

Very friendly and welcoming home. My mother is very happy. The only thing is staff no so easily identified since staff went "Mufti".
Other than that, we are very happy with our mum's care.

My uncle moved in fives weeks prior to my visit. He has settled in well and has been able to surround himself with all his personal items that man so much to him. The home is beautifully clean, welcoming and the staff are always kind, polite and give everyone the time that they need.

My mum moved to Moorhaven at 2 hours notice from hospital; she is leaving today after 22 weeks to go to Extra Care Housing. As a family, we could not have wished for a better experience. The manager and staff have gone above and beyond every day to treat Mum with dignity and kindness. She has her challenges,
a preference for nakedness being one of them, but this has always been dealt with professionally, discretely and with initiative, negating any potential embarrassment to family and other residents. Moorhaven is spotless and does not smell; it is run in a way which should be the "gold standard" for care homes. We have always felt welcome and our input valued, good communication is key. It is extremely reassuring to know that Mum's progress with personal care, meals, daily activities and any concerns are recorded in a daily log to support her care. I have rung and turned up randomly. My mum is always presentable and content, something sadly we could not manage, here she is safe, " it's as good as it gets".

My dad has been in Moorhaven care home for a few months. As a family we feel so fortunate to have got him a place in such a super care home. The staff are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Always friendly and keen to help. The manager runs this care home so very well. It is clean, bright and
all residents appear to be so happy. They take the residents out on trips on a regular basis. They took time in putting lovely Xmas decorations up.

As a family, we cannot express our gratitude to Moorhaven enough in words. This home offers just that - "a home". The dignity and care the whole team have offered has been beyond belief and Taunton should be proud to have such a wonderful home as Moorhaven. Our Mum wanted to end her life in Moorhaven
as she felt safe and loved. Every member of staff was fantastic. We had such a battle with the surgery and doctors and the management team all acted as advocates when we lost our strength. Even at the funeral, they ensured the residents had the chance to attend which mum would have loved. The physical and mental support given was outstanding and we are so thankful.

My mother has gone into Moorhaven for respite, it was just for two weeks and what a change in her I see. She has that sparkle back in her eyes, I have just asked her if she would like another two weeks here and straight away she said yes, as I'm not lonely here.
Staff are absolutely lovely towards
my mother, and I thank them very much for all their help.

My mother came here just two weeks ago and in that short time is looking and seeming so very much better. She says she is happy here and likes the staff who do not "fuss" her, which is what she likes. From having insisted she wanted always to be in her own home she now wants to stay here. I think she
has been given a new enjoyment of life, all thanks to the kind caring people she has looking after her and company of others.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.567)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.567) out of 10 for Moorhaven is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.567 for Moorhaven is calculated as follows: ( (149 Excellents x 5) + (87 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 245 Ratings = 4.567
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moorhaven is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
