Reviews

8.8 The Old Vicarage has a Review Score of 8.8 (8.803)

The Review Score of 8.8 (maximum of 10) for The Old Vicarage is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Old Vicarage in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.589 for The Old Vicarage is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.589

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.214 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old Vicarage is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

    2. Target of 4.2 positive Reviews (21 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 4.2 Target = 0.714

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Mum has been here for 15 months now. She had had a very traumatic time being in hospital 3 times and was depressed, had no appetite and was not very mobile. Now she is very content, has put on weight as she is enjoying meals once more. Her health is much-improved thanks to the care she is being given. The staff are wonderful - patient, caring and friendly. I have complete peace of mind knowing that she is in safe and caring hands.

We chose The Old Vicarage with my Mother who needed 24-hour care. She chose to go there because she liked the family feel of the home. We have found the carers extremely friendly and helpful and more like family to the residents than paid carers. The Management team are spot on and definitely have the pulse of the home. If things go wrong we are told immediately. There is a programme of activities in place, my Mother liked her hair done weekly when she was in her own home and the staff have arranged that here as well. The meals are good, nourishing and filling and Mother particularly enjoys the sherry at lunchtime. She commented to us that she loved it, that she was having her laundry done, her meals prepared and her room cleaned and that she didn't have to worry about turning up the thermostat on the C.Heating, it was nice and warm and felt that someone was looking after her really well. Can't fault anything at The Old Vicarage. A good team and an excellent Manager

I have found the care in The Old Vicarage to be of a high standard. The staff are professional, dedicated and a caring team. The staff are respectful to the resident's nothing is too much trouble. If there is a problem and it can be dealt with quickly it is otherwise as soon as it can be. The home is kept very clean. The resident's clothes are laundered and ironed on site and delivered to their rooms. The staff know that activities are important and deliver stimulation daily. All being a comfortable welcoming home.

My Aunt has been living at The Old Vicarage for 9 months. Recently she has been constantly going on about one thing every time I visit her, the staff have been brilliant helping her and reassuring me, helping in any way they can, explaining things to both myself and my Aunt etc.

A very comfortable and homely place to live. The rooms and communal areas are quite old fashioned but the whole place was redecorated recently and everything is kept very clean. There's a small garden at the rear where residents can safely go out but no opportunity for longer walks as the home is on a main road. All the staff were very kind and attentive to my aunt while she was there. As far as I could tell the food was pretty good and my aunt always seemed to enjoy her meals. Management seem very on the ball, provided us regular feedback and were always very helpful with any queries or concerns we may have had.

If you are considering sending anyone to this Home, BEWARE! They will charge you twice for one night and breakfast. In their book, a week is 7 days and 6 nights. My husband spent 2 weeks there in September/October 2014 and we paid for 14 days and 14 nights, so I can only think that the current daft arrangement is because of the change of manager and book-keeper.
The care-workers and cleaners are fantastic and each visit he has been full of praise. He is less complimentary about the food, but I realise it is difficult to produce the equivalent of home-cooking.
I deeply regret this new ruling because it doesn't make sense. Any hotel. B & B counts a week as 7/7.
