Hillborough Road, Olton, Solihull, Birmingham B27 6PF
Alexandra House is a modern purpose built care home, catering for 36 older people in nicely furnished and decorated self-contained rooms. The home certainly has a welcoming atmosphere with a number of bright and airy informal sitting areas - including a very popular large conservatory. The home is located in safe & secure environment with pleasant landscaped gardens, and every room has a nice outlook.
Most importantly though the home is well run by a highly qualified manager and an experienced team of dedicated staff who have received specialist training in caring for people with dementia. They provide continuity of care and most of staff here have worked for the Trust for many years. Professionals engage the services of a professional firm of specialist caterers who prepare and cook all meals ‘on site’. They are highly experienced in this area, consult with residents on menu planning and are able to cater for people with special dietary needs.
Providing individually tailored care plans and then actually delivering consistently high care services is without doubt the number one priority for everyone involved.
The Home benefits from the latest assistive technologies, for example, all bedrooms (and communal areas) are linked to the ‘nurse call’ system which enables help to be obtained when needed by ‘on site’ care staff - day or night.
Alexandra House is registered with the Care Quality Commission and enjoys an excellent reputation from the regulators, Solihull Council, and local health care professionals. Organise regular visits from dentists, the chiropodist, opticians, and the district nursing team.

b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 1.6 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 2 years. (A 2 year period has been used as there were no positive reviews in the last 12 months)
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 1.57 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alexandra House is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:
3 = 3 then divided by 2 = 1.500
Target of 7.2 positive Reviews (36 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 1 Reviews ÷ 7.2 Target = 0.139 , then divided by 2 = 0.070

Mother very comfortable during her stay, staff very attentive and help is never too far away. Caring atmosphere between both the staff and amongst residents. Number of rooms/residents is right quantity. This moderate size of home allows everyone to feel "at home" with each other. Both staff and residents daily routine is soon fallen into and residents are happy with this routine.
