The Lawns is located in Knighton Rose, Stoneygate and is convenient for Allendale Road shops and cafes. Oadby village is close by. The home provides residential and respite care, and is within easy reach of the A6 road link where there is a regular bus service into Leicester. It is a purpose built home and furnished to a very high standard.

The home is situated in lovely, landscaped gardens and provides spacious en-suite accommodation, with traditional and antique furniture. A good proportion of residents rooms have patio doors opening onto either a patio giving access to the gardens or onto a veranda. Residents are welcome to bring their own possessions.

The Lawns features a large welcoming dining room where residents can socialise at meal times. The chef serves a variety of nutritious home cooked food that residents enjoy. Residents can select from the daily choices menu available and special dietary needs can be catered for.

A purpose built hairdressing salon is located on the ground floor where residents enjoy going to have their hair done by an experienced stylist who frequently visits the home.

The Lawns offers a wide range of activities and outings with a dedicated personal activities leader who strives to provide a stimulating and interesting calendar of entertainment throughout the year. Events are planned in close consultation with residents and their families to ensure everyone has something to enjoy. Trips can include the theatre, opera and Leicester race course, all in the local vicinity.

The Lawns was perfect for my mum in her final few months it's not a typical care home and feels more like a nice hotel. There was always a welcoming happy atmosphere with plenty of activities going on. The food was delicious and plentiful. The level of care was outstanding and the staff were kind, helpful
and respectful at all times. I highly recommend The Lawns.

Very caring staff and nothing is too much trouble. Lots of activities for those who want to take part. The rooms are kept clean and tidy. The food choice is excellent. Mum is often late to breakfast but she is never rushed. Medical staff excellent.

The Lawns Care Home proved to be the perfect place for my father when he was no longer able to cope independently. He was very happy here and everyone who spent time with him and helped him was caring, kind and respectful without exception. My sister and I are very grateful that we were able to leave

The care and compassion shown to my dad since he moved into the Lawns two months ago is outstanding. The Lawns feels safe and homely and I know my dad is being very well cared for. He is encouraged to join in activities and has already been on a boat trip, which he absolutely loved. His medical needs
are taken care of with great professionalism and he is treated with great dignity. All the staff are so friendly, making him feel very at home.

I accompanied my mum on a canal boat trip along with other residents, family members and staff. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. The organising of it was excellent, plenty of very good food and beverages and the boat crews were lovely. My mum said she enjoyed it because it was such a different experience.

first impressions within the home are excellent, the care staff are brilliant extremely attentive and caring towards the residents and family members.
The choice of food and quality were exemplary and nothing is too much trouble when requested. The landscaping and gardens need some tender loving care
but we understand that help is on the way.

Every time I visit The Lawns, I am impressed by the attentive and friendly staff, the obvious contentment and happiness of the residents and the overall pleasant atmosphere which pervades.
The facilities available are excellent and well used. Meals (through personal experience) are first-class with
service reminiscent of high-quality hotels. Every effort is made to attend to residents' needs, providing a stimulating and delightful ambience throughout the care home.

My Dad lived happily at the Lawns as a reasonably fit resident, for nearly 2½ years, but over recent months has become increasingly frail and bed-ridden. Throughout this difficult time, I have been impressed and reassured by the way that the care team have stepped up their provision to match his increased
needs. Their excellent, compassionate care is delivered in a sensitive way and nothing is too much trouble. The chef has also matched Dad's changing needs by producing beautiful pureed meals that would not look out of place in a posh nouvelle-cuisine type of restaurant. Thank you to all of the Lawns team!

I would like to sincerely thank the staff at The Lawns for the care and help that they have been giving my mother over the last year or so. I recently asked The Lawns if they could help my mother to attend a family wedding and The Lawns went out of their way to help my mother to be able to attend the

My mother received wonderful care at The Lawns over a period of ten years. The staff are kind and respectful and they have coped amazingly well during Covid. As well as caring for residents' needs, they also work very hard to keep the residents entertained. My mother has recently passed away, aged 97,
and I can't thank them enough for their end of life care.

I have a dear friend at The Lawns and have been thoroughly impressed with the care provided, particularly throughout lockdown. I was very concerned that I would have very limited contact with my good friend, but have found that thanks to our frequent phone calls and online communication, my concerns
were totally unnecessary. The staff have helped teach my friend to use FaceTime so she can contact me whenever we choose.


My dear friend speaks very highly of all the carers there and simply adores the food.

The care my father gets is exceptional. I cannot say it is a home from home because it is so much better than that for Dad. He is very well cared for and the family have total peace of mind, regarding his safety and welfare. I am so grateful that we found this home for him before lockdown, it has made

My mum has found it very difficult to settle in at this difficult time. The Carers and staff are all very kind and patient with her. When I ring the manager or the deputy manager they are always approachable and make time to speak to me. If they are not available they always ring me back which is not
always the case with other residential homes I have dealt with.

My brother was discharged to The Lawns after three months in hospital. We chose The Lawns after a lot of research into various homes around the city. From the start, after we visited (with social distancing) we found all of the staff absolutely committed to great customer service, empathetic and caring,
and just amazing people. The manager is a great leader and committed to delivering top-class services and this culture is demonstrated through everyone we have been in contact. Even the chef rang me to ask what my brother likes and sure enough that was delivered. We were sent photos of the food and his birthday celebration. The food is made so presentable as my brother needs pureed food - all looks appetising. My brother loves it there - he says the staff cannot do enough to help, nothing is too much, and residents are treated with dignity and respect. All a family needs is assurance that their loved one is looked after and cared for during their stay there. We found that here!

Marie Welsh

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

Marie has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for over 20 years. During this time she has been able to grow not only in her career but as a person. She began as a care assistant and has since progressed to Home Manager. Although it may be challenging at times, she finds her job extremely rewarding and loves making her residents feel truly valued. As Home Manager, she takes pride in empowering a positive culture across the home with the team and the residents.


In her spare time, Marie is a keen photographer; some of her photographs have even made it onto East Midlands News. Marie believes that “every day is a new opportunity and makes life feel brighter.”
