Reviews

9.8 Bernadette House has a Review Score of 9.8 (9.807)

The Review Score of 9.8 (maximum of 10) for Bernadette House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Bernadette House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.95 for Bernadette House is calculated as follows: ( (171 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 180 Ratings = 4.95

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.857 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bernadette House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 7 positive Reviews (35 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 6 Reviews ÷ 7 Target = 0.857

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Bernadette House is an excellent care home with extremely caring staff and a forward-thinking owner and management team. The staff are to be commended for the care they give to the residents and the way they contribute to the lovely atmosphere in the home.

I have recently had cause to go to a different care home to visit a friend's relative. I'm sure the residents were well looked after but I was genuinely surprised at how different the overall feeling in the home was, it just felt so flat as opposed to the lively feeling that is always evident at Bernadette House.

My grandmother is a resident at Bernadette House and as I live in Australia, I don't get to visit her very often. I was in England for Christmas and New Year and really enjoyed seeing her. Like my Gran, I am very creative and it was amazing to see all the incredible paintings the residents have painted. The wall mural is amazing and my Gran was very excited to show me the village scene she'd help to paint. There's a lot going on at Bernadette House and I'm really glad Gran isn't bored or lonely.

My friend has been a resident at Bernadette House for over a year and I always receive a warm welcome when I visit the home. The staff are very friendly and my friend is very happy which means a lot to her family and me. Bernadette House is being refurbished and the communal rooms are lovely now. Freshly painted with new furniture. It's a very nice place to live.

Bernadette House provides a warm and homely environment for residents. My friend is well cared for and the staff always offer me a cup of tea while I sit and chat with her. My friend's health fluctuates and the staff are meticulous in ensuring she receives regular visits from the GP and changes to her medication as required, which gives peace of mind to her family and to me. I recommend the home to everyone I know.

It was a shock when my friend was diagnosed with dementia and an even bigger shock when she finally moved to a care home. I was nervous the first time I visited Bernadette House but I needn't have been. The staff are lovely. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they go way beyond what is actually expected of them. It truly is a 'home away from home' and I appreciate the kindness with which my friends and family are treated.

From day one, mum has been looked after with exceptional care and compassion by the wonderful staff at Bernadette House. As her condition has deteriorated and altered during her stay, her needs have always been reassessed and catered for in an extremely professional and caring manner.

My main comments would be regarding the staff at Bernadette House. The genuine care they show for mum is far above the "call of duty". Often when we visit, there is someone sitting with mum, doing paperwork or some other task, which could easily be done elsewhere. They choose to do it where they can keep mum company, which is really nice.

When mum was really poorly a few weeks ago, the genuine concern of the staff was very touching and you get a strong impression that it is not just a job for them.

I can not recommend this place highly enough.

My aunt is receiving fantastic care at Bernadette House. The staff don't just look after her, they really care. We arrived with a bird feeder for my aunt so she could watch the birds from her window, only to discover the home have several already. The lady who organises the activities is very nice and it was good to see my aunt painting again like she did when we were children. I can't praise the home highly enough.

Mum and Dad needed residential care when Mum developed Dementia at the age of 90 - Dad was already 93 - and we were lucky to find Bernadette House, a professional care home, tucked away close to us near the centre of Lincoln.

The atmosphere at Bernadette House is what matters, and that's down to the people who work there - they are genuinely caring. It was the right place for our parents - the three years they lived there until they died were characterised by much love, patience and thoughtfulness from the staff. As a visiting family, we also felt very much supported and cared for by everyone. We shall miss our daily contact which has been such an important part of our lives for the last three and a half years.

I have been visiting my friend who is a resident at Bernadette House for past couple of months. I am always impressed by the care she receives. Her health is improving and she is very well looked after. The food and activities are good and she enjoys being with the other residents. I look forward to visiting her as I don't feel I'm in the ways and the home is very clean.

I couldn't fault a thing. The home is very clean and comfortable and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. There is a beautiful garden and we enjoy sitting outside in the summer. It's a good location too, being close to the town centre.

Attended an Easter Party. Staff were caring, friendly and some came in on their day off to help. Lovely buffet for all. Our friend had lunch another day three courses on proper china plates. Our friend is looking forward to summer to sit in the gardens. They spend sunny days playing games outside. We took him out the other day and he was dressed lovely, shaved and ready for the time we said. He has put on weight and looks well and says he is happy.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly. We have been asked for input with regard to the care plan. An Easter Party was arranged and attended by family, it was really lovely. The home is in the process of being re-decorated the rooms already done are lovely. The meals all home cooked and choice is given. The staff go that extra mile to help residents make the transition between home and Bernadette House. The home does not smell. They welcome my children and the dog too.
