Chevington House is situated on over half an acre of grounds in the ancient market town of Bourne on North Road, less than half a mile to the north of Bourne town centre. Bourne is situated on the north edge of The Fens at the centre of a triangle of towns formed by Grantham (North West), Stanford, (South) and Spalding (East). Bourne is reputed for being the birth place of the fashion designer Frederick Worth, founder of the Paris Fashion House.

Parking is available at the front of the property for approximately six cars over a block paved driveway. There are attractive gardens to the rear of the home with various mature trees and shrubs including a patio area.

The most recent single storey extension was added in 1986. There are six (6) single rooms and one (1) double bedroom on the ground floor. In addition there are four (4) singles and two (2) double bedrooms on the first floor. The first floor is accessed by conventional stairs or by an elevating stair lift.

Reviews

8.3 Chevington House has a Review Score of 8.3 (8.292)

The Review Score of 8.3 (maximum of 10) for Chevington House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 2 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Chevington House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.417 for Chevington House is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.417

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chevington House is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 3.2 positive Reviews (16 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 3.2 Target = 0.625

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My grandmother was a resident of Chevington House for just over 2 years, during this time the staff were very good with her and provided an excellent standard of care. The staff at Chevington work very hard to ensure the residents have their needs met and that care is at all times dignified. They not only support the resident but their family members as well, listening to any concerns and acting on them when requested. This was especially true when she started a gradual decline in health which resulted in her peaceful death in her own bed in Chevington being cared for by those who knew her. The staff were amazing as they recognised that she was coming to the natural end of her life and had addressed all of hers and the families wishes. We will always be grateful that she could be cared for here rather than being sent elsewhere for her care.

Bob Dhaliwal, Director at Chevington House responded to this review on 21 Mar 2017:

We are glad to have provided a level of service to both your mum and your family which you have appreciated and recognised. I know we have a special team at Chevington, but it always goes a long way when the residents and family tell us how we have done. I am positive that your comments will be a huge morale booster for them.
