9.4 The Leys Residential Care Home has a Review Score of 9.4 (9.439)

The Review Score of 9.4 (maximum of 10) for The Leys Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 11 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Leys Residential Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.439 for The Leys Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.439

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Leys Residential Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 4.6 positive Reviews (23 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 8 Reviews ÷ 4.6 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

This is a lovely home and the staff are very caring. My mother is happy here. The meals are good and there are always drinks available. I can visit her whenever I like and the staff make me welcome.

When she has been ill the doctor has been called at once. If she didn't feel well enough to get up her meds have been brought to her bedroom. She has a hairdresser once a week and the chiropodist makes regular visits. The home is small enough so that the staff get to know the residents very well and can see to their needs.

Since my mother arrived some 3 years ago, the home has been considerably extended. Despite this, I have always found the staff to be helpful and friendly. The staff faces do change quite often but they work hard! The premises are kept clean and tidy. The meals are well presented and nutritious. My negative comments would be that more staff are needed in order to interact with residents rather than perform duties. The garden is under-utilised which would improve the facility. The residents are starved of fresh air. Overall small, clean and friendly.

She has been living there for about twelve months now.
The care she is given is very good.

Prior to placing my Father-in-law into the home, we inspected the room, lounge and kitchen areas. We were encouraged to check all the facilities when we found to be clean, pleasant and generally welcoming. Father-in-Law was frail when he entered the Leys and was admitted to hospital on two occasions but the home coordinated the transfers very efficiently. Apart from excellent management, the care shown by staff to him could not have been bettered and his end of life care was faultless. The staff emphasised that The Leys was his new house and visitors (with pets) were encouraged. It would be nice to think all care homes could reach this standard.

Unfortunately, my grand father's health deteriorated rapidly over December but the carers were fantastic and knew exactly the care he needed. This was a great comfort to my grandfather and the family. Sadly he passed away early January. He was at the home and we couldn't have wished for better care for him. The end of life care was handled with love and respect towards everyone involved. It is a real shame my grandfather didn't have longer at the home. It was always a joy to visit and be welcomed by such lovely staff. Thank you!

My 90-year-old father's welcome into the home was excellent. All of the staff treated him with the utmost respect and dignity. Unfortunately, father was very frail, having had several falls prior to going into the care home and he succumbed to the after effects of these falls in early January 2017. The end of life care he received and the support the family had, from all the staff, was exceptional. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone.

This is a lovely care home. It has a homely atmosphere and the carers are lovely. They go out their way to care for my mother who has now been at this care home for over a month. I can't complain and we are extremely happy with the care. The decoration is nice and the home is well maintained. The activities at the home are good however the home could do with more which they are currently working on.

I was introduced this home by a friend of a friend. We happened to need a care home for my elderly mother at very short notice as she suffered a fall just before Christmas. We contacted the home and spoke to the manager who was extremely polite and helpful. She helped arrange an assessment immediately and arranged admission at short notice. We could see the home had undergone major works and was being completed however everything at the home looked clean, tidy and it was very homely. I would definitely recommend this care home. Mum says she has thoroughly enjoyed her time at the home so far and says she can't thank the carers enough for what they do.
