Reviews

9.3 Bourne House has a Review Score of 9.3 (9.277)

The Review Score of 9.3 (maximum of 10) for Bourne House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Bourne House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.921 for Bourne House is calculated as follows: ( (220 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 239 Ratings = 4.921

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.356 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bourne House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 6.6 positive Reviews (33 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 6.6 Target = 0.606

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Bourne House staff went all out today with their garden party for residents, family, friends and others. I booked a bagpipe player for mum but also for other residents to enjoy, which they did. Almost all residents were in the garden and for those unable to sit out, staff ensured they were sat near the French doors so they weren't missing out. I really enjoy spending time with mum, but also the staff who make me feel so welcome and a part of everything that is going on. I am always kept up to date with any issues that may arise i.e change in medication, mums emotions etc. Well done Bourne House.

Having already posted three commendations for Bourne House this will be just a short note.
My mother, who has passed away recently, was a resident for the best part of five years and I have no regrets whatsoever about her living there.
I have never had any cause for concern or complaint and if for whatever reason, you are looking for a place in a residential home, I would have no hesitation in recommending Bourne House.

My mum had a potentially embarrassing medical condition during her stay at Bourne House, but she was treated with care, respect and love by everyone. We felt that they were caring for mum because they love their jobs, it never felt as though they were merely "at work". On every visit, she would tell us how comfortable she was and how nothing was too much trouble for the carers.

The range of activities available was excellent and varied, the programme providing fun and stimulation, and enabling less able residents to take part. Bourne House also has a lovely Dementia friendly garden which our mum was able to walk and sit in on most days. I must also mention the meals which were delicious, with plenty of choice.
My sister and I are so grateful that mum was able to end her days here, neither of us lives locally, but we had peace of mind in between visits, knowing that mum was in a good place with kind and caring friends- that's how it felt.

Mum has lived at Bourne House since April 2016 after spending a short time in respite, she has settled in well mainly due to the care and support from the staff - all of who seem to understand what a challenging condition dementia is for a person and their family. They offer advice, guidance and comfort whenever needed. Mum has enjoyed lots of activities, trips to various places with the staff who understand the condition and its complexities. Bourne House feels homely and welcoming they support Mum, and Dad - who visits every day and evening - to enjoy life by being passionate about caring in a relaxing environment and treating residents and their families with respect.

We appreciate everything they do.

My Mother has been at Bourne House for the past 14 months, with vascular dementia. She settled in quickly, all my reservations regarding placing her into Care were alleviated.
She's treated with care and respect, her meals are freshly cooked with regular snacks/ drinks intervals. She's does at least 95% of activities, all her wishes are respected. She is happy and laughing. Her sleeping and appetite has improved, she no longer wanders she is safe and secure
If she's become unwell, I'm informed and staff have already notified either the G.P., or Ambulance. Staff have discussed Mum's end of life plan with me, which has incorporated all her wishes and feelings she wanted when she was able to discuss this with family.
Although her ability to portray her thoughts has diminished slightly, her care remains to a very high standard, I'm extremely pleased I waited to place Mum at Bourne House on the advice from friends who have had family as residents, I couldn't have wished for more.

My mother-in-law became a resident at Bourne House in February 2015 after brief spells of respite care at various other care homes throughout Tameside. My own parents were previously residents at Bourne House each for a number of years and when it became evident that my mother-in-law needed residential care Bourne House still stood head and shoulders above the rest.

The atmosphere in the home is warm and welcoming and welfare of the residents is paramount. Staff engage with them in a pleasing and kindly manner and will always go the extra mile.

The management team are constantly striving to improve the already excellent service that they provide and should be commended for doing so.

Keep up the good work management and staff of Bourne House your residents and their families appreciate all your efforts!!!

My mum has been living at Bourne House for the last six years, and in that time she has been well looked after by the wonderful staff. I have called at every time of day and night and have never had any worries about he welfare, she has always been happy and had plenty to do over the years. Mums dementia now prevents her from joining in a lot of things but the staff always make sure she never misses out of anything, I can't praise the staff and management enough for the help and support they have given mum and all our family over the years And long it may it continue.

Mum entered Bourne House 17 months ago, anxious and unsettled at first she has now settled well due to the exceptional care given to her by the management and staff. The home is very efficient and professional and at the same time warm, friendly and caring. Nothing is too much trouble. Residents have plenty of activities, trips and events to take part in and the sensory garden is fantastic and much enjoyed by Mum. Bourne House is simply the best, thank you to all the staff for creating the safe caring environment which my Mum appreciates and enjoys.

We rehoused my mum in Bourne House after we had a few issues with her previous care home. The staff are always very helpful and polite and always on hand if we have any questions or issues. Since my mum has been here she has started to put her weight back on when her previous home said she wouldn't eat. She's always clean and tidy the way I know she would look after herself if she could. Thank you Bourne House for a job well done. Keep up the good work.

My mum has been a resident in Bourne House for the last 3 months and has settled in there and feels very comfortable and well looked after. She is especially happy with the independence the staff allow her to do things she is able to do for herself.
Mum had a bad experience in a previous nursing home where she was very unhappy and the contrast between that home and Bourne House couldn't be greater. Mum has put weight on and is in general much better than she has been in a long time
My sister and I feel we don't have to worry about mum knowing that she is happy and well cared for and we like the fact that the staff always have time to talk to us about mum's welfare.

My mum's abilities have recently deteriorated and she is currently requiring assistance eating her meals and taking drinks. The staff have been really good with her and are very patient; taking time with mum trying to get her to eat and drink, as much as they can.
I am happy that mum is well cared for and that her health is being regularly reviewed and monitored.
The main room where my mum sits is bright and now has a homely fireplace, which I think is great. Mum has been at Bourne House over 3 years and they have made lots of improvements to the rooms and outside space, during this time, which have enhanced homeliness feel.

Bourne House gave my Mum excellent care. They gave her independence, dignity, love that she deserved. An exquisite sensory garden gave my Mum the opportunity to enjoy the final Months of her life in caring and peaceful surroundings and to call Borne House her Home.

The attention of the management and staff to the care and needs of their residents and indeed their family is exceptional and having experienced it I found it heart warming. If that is not enough, the food is excellent being home cooked

At the latter stages of my Mum's life the nursing given to her was exceptional. All the staff supported us as a family at a vary difficult time, they not only supported us at Mum's passing but also to help us make funeral arrangements.

Having had previous experience of other care home providers I can honestly say that Bourne House is top of the premier league and I would highly recommend it to anyone in a position where they are looking for exceptional care for themselves or a loved one.

Mums room is lovely and the whole home is well appointed. I have no hesitation in recommending Bourne House. We count ourselves very fortunate that mum is a resident here because it's an excellent care home.

I visited Bourne House for over 25 years as friend and Eucharistic Minister from St Ann's Church. Over the past 10 years plus- it has become an excellent, welcoming home where residents are assured of a most pleasant experience- good food, plenty of activities and most of all a caring staff. End of life care is of the best- sometimes I've personally witnessed on several occasions. Sadly due to my own health problems I can no longer make regular visits and I miss them all.

My mother has been at Bourne House for just over 3 years and I visit her on a regular basis.
I cannot recall any visit when I have not come away with the knowledge that she is being extremely well cared for.
The level of activities and games are very well organised and enjoyed by all the patients, plus in the good weather they can sit out in the beautiful garden area.
I can thoroughly recommend Bourne House and its excellent staff.
