Overview

The Review Score of 9.3 (maximum of 10) for Moorings Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Moorings Residential Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.804 for Moorings Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (115 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 143 Ratings = 4.804

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.449 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moorings Residential Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 15.6 positive Reviews (78 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 7 Reviews ÷ 15.6 Target = 0.449

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mum was in The Moorings for nearly two years. The care she got was first class, just like a family. The staff were simply wonderful, it was her home and we were all made to feel welcome, taking my grandchildren in to see all the residents. We used to say she was living it up at The Moorings five star hotel.
Sadly when mum passed away in September we kept her in The Moorings which is what she wanted to do. Myself and my daughter slept by Mums bed for eleven days and nights and we were looked after amazingly.
My mum passed away with dignity, all thanks to The Moorings. I actually miss going into this wonderful home.

My Wife and I spent two separate weeks at Moorings Retirement Home in June and August. The facility is run with the utmost professionalism, with excellent care staff and front of house reception. Food quality is of a high standard with nothing too much trouble for the staff. You can even enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. Great location, great building. Five stars.

It's almost a year since my mum moved into The Moorings. The care is absolutely fantastic and the environment is just lovely. I don't think I can put into words how truly marvellous it is. The staff are so friendly and caring. I feel 100% confident my mum is understood as an individual, well cared for and supported where she needs it. The activity programme is fabulous with something to suit every taste. When I look through the pictures on their Facebook page I can see photos of my mum looking happy and engaged in so many different activities. She is very happy there and I feel very lucky to have found The Moorings for my lovely mum. All homes should aspire to be like this. It ticks all the boxes and goes beyond.

A lovely, caring and vibrant care home. The staff are very compassionate, empathetic and friendly. The sales and relationship manager is very professional and actually listened to all our family's initial concerns. A true professional who puts you at ease. The residents are always encouraged to take part in the abundance of activities and the settings in the home are colourfully decorated which makes the care home very welcoming. I would wholeheartedly recommend the home to anyone who may have reservations and encourage you to speak to the sales and relationship manager.

What a beautiful place and should be the way forward for all care homes. The place felt very welcoming, happy staff and with lots going on. A lovely location overlooking the sand dunes and sea and just a short walk to the prom. This place was more like a hotel with beautiful decor and lots of facilities. When my time comes, I do hope I can live in a place like this. A special thank you to the sales and customer relationship manager for all her help.

Pete Wood, Director at Moorings Residential Care Home responded to this review on 08 Jun 2017:

We will roll out the welcome mat when the time comes Jane.

My mother was a resident at The Moorings for the last year of her life, from the age of 103 to 104. She was happy and very well cared for and I found the staff of all levels, most obliging and compassionate.
Towards the end of her life she did need a lot of extra care and attention, and my goodness, she got it. The staff made sure she was spending most of her time in amongst the other residents, joining in with the many organised activities and that kept her constantly stimulated.
As she gradually became more frail, she was not put to bed and left for long periods which could have shortened her life. She was up and dressed and watched over.
I was never given any reason to doubt the care she was getting and the fact that she lived to well over 104 was proof of the level she received.
During the last three months of her life I was in and out and seeing her on a daily basis and I didn't see a single thing that took away that confidence I had.

Pete, Director at Moorings Residential Care Home responded to this review on 08 Jun 2017:

Thank you Janice. We had a lovely time with mum, what a lovely character.

I have visited many care homes and I have never come across such as one like this. First class through and through. Thought I had gone to a 5-star hotel by mistake. Welcoming reception, high-class decor and amazing warm welcome by the staff. The food and entertainment are first class. The staff were incredible, especially the sales and relationship manager so knowledgeable and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Well done to the manager, I can tell you love your job and how committed you and the care staff are! A truly amazing place.

Laura,
Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey. We really appreciate the feedback as it is one of the ways we can improve our service. We are so pleased that you had a positive experience. We will share the feedback with the team.
Regards,
The Moorings Team.

The staff made me feel very welcome. They were all very friendly and caring. In particular, the cleaners were helpful and worked extremely hard. It was like staying in a 5* hotel. I was apprehensive before going in but the managers visited me at my home and put my mind at rest. Throughout my stay everyone was supportive. I have no complaints whatsoever

The reason I came here I lost my wife after 66 years married, at the time the home was more or less built and finished. It does not seem like a care home but could be a 5 star hotel. The staff and medical facilities I found excellent and if privacy is important not a problem. So in my 3rd year here I have to desire to return to Yorkshire where I lived.
