My husband has had 5 two week respite care spells in Edmund House during 2025. He is always warmly welcomed, and although a dementia sufferer, he settles well and relates to the staff brilliantly. He eats very well, and the home have catered for his "soft" diet request and portions that are bite sized
for easy eating and swallowing.
The staff regularly check on him and have good "banter" with him. He is always comfortable in Edmund House, so I am able to relax and enjoy my respite days.

My mother has been a resident for over 4 months now, as her condition is progressing (dementia) I feel the care she is receiving is far beyond anything I could provide. It is outstanding, recently having contracted covid, 1/2 hourly checks were carried out and she was monitored constantly. The unit
is spotlessly clear and staff are on hand for any questions. Their behaviour in treating residents with dignity and compassion is obvious. It puts my mind at rest about her safety.

I didn't want to come into a care home. I was depressed and anxious. But after only a day, this changed. The staff were so kind and thoughtful. I was happy to be here. When the time comes, I will be back.

All in all my dad has a good time in this care home, and any concerns or difficulties which arise are often dealt with efficiently. The staff are good but as said in previous meetings, I wish the staff were able to spend a bit more quality time with each resident, not just my dad. Being short staffed
and busy are always the response, and still waiting to hear about my dad's P.A. It's been agreed he can have one, but no more has been said on the matter. An update would be appreciated. Thanks.

I visit my friend weekly, and I always find I'm greeted with warmth and friendliness. Great customer service. The home has a lovely feel to the place, with lots of laughter and care given to the residents. The activities which my friend takes part in are fun and engaging. I've sometimes asked a member
of staff for help (i.e. a blanket if we go out to more drinks, etc) and nothing is too much trouble. I visit a number of other care homes in the area, and I can honestly say I would recommend Edmond House without hesitation.

Edmund House is a very well run care home. My mum has been living there for over two years now. I am extremely impressed with the standard of care from all the staff I have encountered. Mum tells me regularly that she likes it there and that she feels safe. The carers make me feel welcome every time
I visit, and they always make time to say hello. The facilities are well-maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. The food is second to none. I know the chef tries hard to accommodate residents' tastes. Visitors are able to help themselves to hot drinks in the dining room. There is a fantastic activities programme for all the residents and the team try really hard to include everybody. Mum enjoys and takes part in as many activities as she can. Well done, Edmund House. Keep up the great work!

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.836)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.836) out of 10 for Edmund House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.836 for Edmund House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (306 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 365 Ratings = 4.836
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Edmund House Care Home is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I’m a mum of three children aged 24, 22 and 5, and also have a 3-year-old grandson, so life is busy. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my youngest child, and in the evenings I like to relax with a good book.

Job Title: Receptionist Joined: 2024

I previously worked at a local hospice as a care assistant, progressing to advanced care assistant and later to complementary therapist. During this time, I trained as a qualified Reiki practitioner and reflexologist, and also gained training in mindfulness, wellbeing, hand and foot massage, meditation and relaxation.

Looking after people is a privilege. It’s not just about supporting the individual, but also being there for their family and friends during difficult times. I love working in care services because of the people — both my colleagues and those we care for.

I’m married and have a daughter and a son, four grandsons and two granddaughters. Although my dad passed away 10 years ago, my mum is still a huge part of my life, which I feel very grateful for.

My hobbies include NFL American football, and my husband and I attend London games when our teams are playing in the UK. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and going on holiday — Greece is my favourite destination.

I have worked in the catering sector since the age of 19, starting as a prep chef and progressing to Head Chef. Before working in catering, I was a domiciliary carer, which I really enjoyed. Both roles give me a sense of fulfilment and allow me to make a positive difference.

My favourite part of working in care is making residents happy, speaking with them about food, and adapting meals to meet their individual needs.

I’m a mum of two and a wife. Food is my passion, and bringing happiness and enjoyment through food is my goal.

I enjoy working in the care home sector as every day is different. I love meeting new people as you get an insight into everyone’s life. The most rewarding aspect is having an impact on people’s lives with small acts of kindness & building meaningful relationships with residents as well as families.

I was born in London and moved to Scunthorpe in 2003. I completed my Level 2 in childcare, to then go on to help running my dad’s business. I am an extremely family orientated person. My 3 children, parents & siblings are a big part of my life. I believe in making each day count, building memories as we go along! I pride myself in setting a good example for my children. I regularly go on walks to help keep fit which also helps keep a clear mind and I often visit different cities/towns to eat out. My biggest passion is to travel and see the world, I love experiencing different cultures and meeting people from different backgrounds. Every year I try to go on holiday abroad with the family. My husband is my biggest supporter who always encourages me to go further and achieve more!
