Red Lodge provides self-contained apartments with the availability of flexible support – from a little bit of home help to 24-hour registered care – to enable older people to maintain their independence for longer. Short-stay care and respite is also available. It employs a dedicated team of skilled carers, which means residents can be assured of the highest-quality services and care.

Communal amenities include dining room, lounge, library services, hair salon, guest rooms, laundry facilities and landscaped gardens. There are also plenty of opportunities to take part in social activities.

Red Lodge is located in the heart of the Edwardian garden village of New Earswick, on the outskirts of York. It is ideally situated to enjoy village life and still be within easy access of the city centre. It is owned and managed by the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, a charity that has specialised in the provision of housing, care and support services for over a century.

My Mother moved into Red Lodge 6 months ago after a stroke. It was a big change for her after being in her own house, but was made very comfortable and at ease by the staff. Due to their care and consideration, she now feels at home and fortunate to be in such a secure and happy environment. The staff are always available to talk to me at any time when I visit. I am so glad we chose Red Lodge.

Thank you for taking the time to give us this review. We are delighted that your mother has settled into Red Lodge. She is a valued member of the Red Lodge community and myself and the team will continue to do all we can to provide the secure and happy environment that she enjoys.

When my wife became I'll my mother in law had to go into sheltered accommodation quite quickly. Red Lodge enabled her to move quickly and when she needed more care enabled the move within Red Lodge. She needs a high degree of care, and the family are happy with the arrangements here.

I am writing this review as holding power of attorney of a resident.

Red Lodge is well run, although there can be staffing issues at times. This can raise problems. The library could do with some TLC. Residents meetings could be improved with a more intimate location. Red Lodge is unable to access NHS information upon a resident's discharge, so I have suggested a buddy system to prevent miscommunication from the local hospital. Local children leave litter around the rear entrance which can be unsightly.
