The Review Score of 8.7 out of 10 for Plas Gwyn is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 3 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Plas Gwyn in Google's Search Results – more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.167 for Plas Gwyn is calculated as follows: ( (9 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.167
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews; 3.00 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Plas Gwyn is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:
3.00 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5
Target of 3 positive Reviews (15 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 3 Target = 1
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Review submitted on 26 June 2017 from a Website Submission by Georgia H (Sister-in-law of Resident). on Monday 26 June 2017 . Relates to June 2017.
My brother-in-law has now been at Plas Gwyn for nearly two years; during all of that time all care standards, staffing, management and activities have been consistently very good, and everyone gets on with him well. My brother-in-law himself says "it is the best place I have been to". I believe the manager and her staff have made sincere efforts to really get to understand my brother-in-law's dislikes and preferences, and they have all gone to extra lengths to get him "out and about" (something he wanted).
My brother-in-law now has well-established routines which respect his individuality; his powers of articulation has improved; his sense of humour has returned; he is eating/sleeping well; his tastes in music/TV and video are encouraged and respected. His room is quiet, and bright, with a lovely window on the garden.
I visit every 4-6 weeks - sometimes unannounced (as a spot check) - I always find my brother-in-law well accommodated, and responsive.
I also attend Review Meetings.

Each time I visit my relation she is happy and contented.
The staff have an excellent relationship with her and arrange special activities for Birthdays and Christmas.
All other residents appear relaxed in their environment.
The management is very professional and caring.

My brother is happy and well looked after by his lead, dedicated carer. I commend him for his attitude to all the residents in the home. It is not an easy task and I never found him lacking in any way. A home is only as good as it's staff. Well done.
