Overview

The Review Score of 9.6 (maximum of 10) for Whitgift House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 14 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Whitgift House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.561 for Whitgift House is calculated as follows: ( (110 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 164 Ratings = 4.561

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whitgift House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 7.2 positive Reviews (36 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 9 Reviews ÷ 7.2 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.6 Whitgift House has a Review Score of 9.6 (9.561) from 14 Reviews

I go there and have a good time. They are very friendly. The dinners are lovely and I enjoy it. Then they bring me home at 4 pm and see that I have everything and let my daughter know by phone.

My Husband enjoys the company and the activities. All the staff are very kind, helpful and happy! Husband likes to socialise and watch others - ideal because he has settled well with a nice group. Attends two days every week. Very grateful for the respite from caring, as it gives me a few hours of "me time." Thank you to everyone at Whitgift House.

The Monday and Wednesday club has made an enormous difference to my mum's life. She looks forward to the day out of her flat and really enjoys the activities and the lunch.
The staff are all kind and helpful and the transport provided is excellent. The whole day is extremely good value.

Whitgift House gives gold star care and nursing.
We have nothing but gratitude and praise for all who work there. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff outstanding. Everything is done for the good of the resident and staff are more than supportive to family.

My observation was that last year during building work of the new communal rooms, residents were not given much consideration for the fact they were looking out onto a building site for months on end - people skills were lacking! Lunch menu good for the cost to residents but would be better if a little more costly. Washing machines old and warn - impossible for an elderly lady to work, also impossible to read dials.

My husband has been at Whitgift House for almost exactly a year and we have been very satisfied with the care he has received. The staff are very friendly and treat the residents with great consideration and dignity. There is an opportunity to meet the matron regularly to air grievances if any.

Mum has been at Whitgift House for nearly two years. She has a lovely room overlooking the gardens decorated with her own furniture. We looked at lots of homes and it stood out as the best. There are lots of activities, award-winning food and I particularly like that it's linked to Whitgift school so the school children come down very frequently to talk to the residents and play concerts for them. This gives the place a great community feel when some care homes can become isolated 'waiting rooms' for the inevitable. Whitgift House embraces life and keeps residents engaged. The staff are wonderful they feel like family now and I can't thank them enough. Even when things aren't perfect they stand out as caring and efficient. Early on mum made some complaints which worried me. Senior staff took this seriously and made a full investigation. I was made to feel comfortable about doing this and the result was better communication with mum at night when she's sleepy and not wearing her hearing aid.

I have lived her since August 2015 and consider myself lucky to have got in. The residents are very friendly and the staff go to endless trouble to be helpful and to lay on activities and outings. The food is very good and reasonably priced. Any maintenance requirements are dealt with promptly. The flats are spacious and the kitchen and bathrooms well fitted with attention to detail and the needs of the elderly.

Small one bedroom flat set in attractive grounds. Very useful to be able to have lunch if wanted. Very convenient for buses to Croydon and elsewhere. It is reassuring to know that someone is on hand in case of illness or emergency. Having no immediate family it gives one a sense of security.
