The staff at Dormy House treat all residents with respect, constantly checking on them and addressing them by name.
As a family member, I'm always updated on my dad and if any issues arise.

My father has late-stage dementia. The care and the dignity Dormy House provides him are outstanding. The staff go above and beyond to ensure he is comfortable and clean and every need is met, day and night. I am always kept updated on my father's well-being and health. The home is spotlessly clean,
warm and always welcoming. All the staff are cheerful, approachable and so very caring.

My sister has been a resident for over 4 years, prior to me moving far away, my visits are now less but in the past year, better communication via social media with the nursing staff I am confident that she is getting the best care possible. The new nursing team have worked very hard and new owners
have invested to improve the home. Monthly meetings and online connections are really informative, her care and well-being are top priority with management and the nursing team.

Dormy House continues to go from strength to strength. The level of care has improved greatly and it is good to see that the staff are building relationships with the residents and both staff and residents are looking so much happier. I also must mention the entertainment staff, they have made such

Having been at the home for over 8 years we have seen the good and the bad. There are a couple of permanent carers who are amazing. The reliance on agency staff, whilst I am sure lovely people, makes it really hard for residents to build up relationships, to have their needs known and for safety and
security be ensured. At the end of the day, despite offering nursing and palliative care my mother was let down. Despite her respect form stating not for hospital, we were given no option, she died in the hospital, and the home saying they were unable to provide the nursing care she required - basic end-of-life care. Would I recommend the place, yes but only if there are vast improvements and as long as the company looks after the amazing full-time staff they have otherwise they will go. If the home gets back to where it was over 8 years ago then it will be a happy place again.

My father spent 15 months in Dormy House. He was well cared for in a comfortable environment. Sadly, he had to have palliative care in the last few weeks but this was done with professionalism and compassion, with the support of a fantastic GP linked to the home. We were always made to feel welcome

My personal experience was awful, the place was a building zone and freezing cold and all the staff I interacted with were aloof and unfriendly. My father was placed at Dormy House and within 3 days of moving in he passed away which was completely unexpected.
The last conversation I had with my father
was how unhappy he was there and how he felt he could not ask for anything as he was afraid of the response he would get.
I have been unable to get any sort of timeline from Dormy House or any information regarding the events leading to my father’s death. Out of desperation, I contacted the coroner’s office who have opened an investigation. In addition, I have raised a formal complaint with Dormy House and Aria Care all of which have been ignored.
I would not recommend Dormy House. The manager there is an awful lady who is abrasive and exceptionally rude. I found the staff I met to be completely disinterested and lacked even the basic amount of empathy.

Thursday afternoon 21st of September - no carers in the lounge area where residents were squeezed into the small lounge for entertainment. Dad not shaved and was in dirty clothes (laundry slow - he didn't have any of his 8 shirts in his wardrobe and was not wearing socks). Saturday 23rd September AM,
one carer rushed off her feet. Having booked in for a meal with dad, nothing was prepared. Meal inappropriate - Dad couldn't cut the gammon and gave up on his meal as it was too difficult to deal with. The ice cream came with spoons larger than my serving spoons at home. The staff and nurses are great! Management is poor.

I like all the new decor and prettiness but was taken to the other end of the scale when I got to my mother. She had on a faded, worn short sleeved top and a skirt that was full of holes. She looked like a tramp. My mother was always well presented when she had her own voice and to see her presented
like that was very difficult. Can whoever gets Mum dressed, look in her wardrobe, pick something nice and maybe a cardigan now it's getting colder. Please throw away any clothes that are worn or have large holes in. It's basic caring.

A very pleasant, large care home. Well fitted out and homely with plenty of activity going on each time I visited. My father was in Dormy House for respite. As his main carer, I oversaw his visit as he suffered from advanced dementia. The staff were attentive, charming, caring and professional. All
my dealings with any of the staff were polite and uplifting. These people actually do care and that comes out in the way they deal with everyone. The food was good, and always plenty of tea and other drinks on hand for my father and for me when I visited. I would highly recommend this care home. It is well set out, well appointed, well decorated, with the main thing, caring people that look after your loved ones.

Although the carers seemed lovely, my mum hated her time at Dormy House and was so unhappy that she had to be collected and taken home. This was really disappointing as we were fond of a staff member in the management team and can’t fault her or her communication with us prior to mum staying there.
Although she only stayed two nights, they still expect us to pay for the full week. She was bored, lethargic and poorly whilst she was there. As soon as she was taken home, she was fine after a couple of hours. Mum’s behaviour was totally out of character and she was shaking. We’d never take her there again.

My mum received an exemplary standard of care during her five and a half years there. The love, care, dedication, commitment and compassion shown to Mum and us as a family was second to none. I cannot thank enough all the staff involved in my mum’s care it is something I will be eternally grateful for
and will never forget. I cannot recommend Dormy House highly enough, care giving at it’s best and totally person centered so that your loved one always receives the right care for them.

My mother was transferred to Dormy House in February. I am very pleased with the care and dedication of the staff who look after her. It gives us peace of mind knowing that she is safe and well. As we live quite away from Dormy House we don’t visit as much as we would like. Once again it gives us peace

Job Title: Home Manager

Originally from the Philippines, I am a nurse by profession, and I’ve been working in the care sector for about 15 years since I moved to the UK. I continually try to enhance my knowledge and skills as a nurse.


As a Home Manager, it gives me an opportunity to make a difference across the wider community. I was part of an NHS pilot project designed to reduce hospital admissions, not just in residential care but for any elderly person at home. It was a fascinating project, and I am proud to have been at the forefront of this initiative.


My daily responsibilities encompass ensuring excellent care delivery by my team, prioritising resident safety, and maintaining regulatory compliance. However, what truly resonates with me is the personal connection I foster with the residents. I prioritise spending meaningful time with them, integrating myself as a familiar presence rather than just an authority figure, ensuring their comfort and well-being. I sit next to them and find the time to check the whole home’s environment and work closely with my wonderful team here at Dormy. For me, caregiving is a heartfelt commitment to providing the level of care I would want for my own family.


Drawing from my upbringing in the Philippines, where intergenerational living is customary, I approach each resident as a cherished member of my own family, overseeing every aspect of their care with meticulous attention.


It is my aim at Dormy to create a joyful experience and happy environment for the residents and ensure the whole community is harmonious and happy. I will use my skills to create a culture where there is a happy, motivated, working environment for all.


Outside of work, I am immensely proud of my two grown-up daughters who have both been to university, one is a lawyer, and the other is a nurse. We enjoy family time and I like to keep fit and healthy and place an emphasis on self-care and wellbeing. This enables me to positively impact those around me.


I live in Reading, Berkshire, and after a short commute, I find solace in the tranquil surroundings of Dormy House, nestled amidst a picturesque golf course. I invite visitors to experience firsthand the exceptional care and unparalleled amenities we offer.
