Reviews

8.4 Chiltern Court Care Home has a Review Score of 8.4 (8.408)

The Review Score of 8.4 (maximum of 10) for Chiltern Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Chiltern Court Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.625 for Chiltern Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (79 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.625

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.783 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chiltern Court Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

    2. Target of 10.6 positive Reviews (53 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 10.6 Target = 0.283

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My dear mum has been in Chiltern Court Care Home for one year with Alzheimers. Over the weekend she has deteriorated with a vascular problem and was admitted to hospital. Palliative care is the sad outcome and fortunately, we have got our mum back to Chiltern Court. I cannot express enough how grateful we are for their continued compassion to us and my dear mum. The carers who looked after mum upstairs have come down (as she is now downstairs) to check on her and indeed us. We are so grateful that if the time comes she will end her life surrounded by very caring people. When I arrived there this morning I was on a mission to make her new room more like home but the amazing maintenance man had already done that. It meant so much. Thank you, please keep it up xxx

My mother was looked after very well in Chiltern Court. She was washed and visited many times by the staff and kept her dignity at all times.
They couldn't do enough for us. Sadly she died in the care home on the 14th October 2016 - she was helped by all the staff and rennie nurses and we were there when she dies. The home manager was around a lot and her staff even let us know when we needed to have a plan ready for when she died - she could not have been in better hands - Thank you Chiltern Court.

The care shown to my mother has been excellent. The carers were all very good and I would like to particularly commend her carer whose kindness and patience were first class. The home itself has an air of kindness and everyone did what they could for Mum. I would also like to mention the manager who has been wonderful during a difficult time. The house itself could do with a lick of paint, only negative. Wonderful

This was my first experience of being in a nursing home as a resident, for respire care. Although I did have many years working as a registered nurse and some professional experience of running one. From the initial assessment of care needs to being greeted in the nursing home until the day of my discharge I can honestly say the experience exceeded my expectations.

The home itself and all members of staff were professional , extremely caring and dedicated tot heir work, which was very demanding and constantly busy. Nothing was too much trouble and they all went over and above their call of duty.

I do feel 12 hour shifts given to the staff are far too long, especially given the demands placed upon their time, mornings in particular.
Not that any of the staff complained but it was obvious from the amount of work they did and the amount of residents to care for that the hours were long and hard.

Although on this occasion I was funded by the local authority with a top up fee and I would like to return to this nursing home for further respite care, even if I have to self fund. I would be grateful to have a brochure and a price list for a room with it's own bath and toilet please (Room 38?)
I am unable to use the bath lifts that are provided but my own is easily transportable so need that consideration taken into mind.

I also find it very difficult to find a nursing home at very short notice for respite care. I would find it useful to know if Chiltern Court Nursing Home would be able to provide this facility at short notice in the future. Kindly pass on my thanks and praises to the manager and ALL her staff for their excellent care, support and genuine kindness. I'm already looking forward to my next stay and missing them.

Jane Meadows, Home Manager at Chiltern Court Care Home responded to this review on 13 Apr 2016:

Hello there, thank you for leaving such a lovely review of Chiltern Court. I will be in touch with you personally to discuss the questions you have raised in your review so we hope to see you again soon. Best wishes, Jane Meadows.

On the return of my wife from hospital on 2/2/16 for a dignified death, my son and I held a 24 hour vigil. At her bedside until her death on 10/2/16.
My wife was not alone for that period. My son and I were treated with compassion and were accommodated for that period, we were allowed to come and go, using the in-house facilities as required. The staff were magnificent. Thank you.

Father in Law is treated well. Good food, clean room. He sometimes feels cold, but if he refuses a jumper/cardigan when dressed it is not the fault of the carer.

My dad and I are ever grateful to you all for caring for my mum. She has deteriorated this past year and lapses of memory loss. She has just had a UTI and she is very confused. Today is the first day she seems settled and calm. She has a lot of anger and bad past memories. She talks yo the wall or her clown toy, rather than us. My dad and I don't mind, we've got used to it. Thank you for all your help and kindness, the staff are so kind and sincere.
