The Review Score of 5.5 (maximum of 10) for Copper Beeches is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Copper Beeches in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 1.6 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 2 years. (A 2 year period has been used as there were no positive reviews in the last 12 months)
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 3.896 for Copper Beeches is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 3.896
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 1.563 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Copper Beeches is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:
3 = 3 then divided by 2 = 1.500
Target of 8 positive Reviews (40 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 1 Reviews ÷ 8 Target = 0.125 , then divided by 2 = 0.063
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Review submitted from a Postal Card by P P (Friend of Resident) on Friday 29 September 2017. Relates to June 2017.
Room is dirty, especially her chair, due to not providing a bib at most mealtimes or the incorrect cutlery and not helping to cut up difficult meals.
Not always putting her socks on or providing a blanket when in a chair. Lift isn't working, provide unsuitable meals or slop, some meals too hard to chew.

Found the care village to be very pleasantly situated with many plans for future developments eg a beach area for supervised sunbathing in clement weather, kind and welcoming, helpful staff, regular meals on offer and a personalised care plan to suit the resident.
Smells and appears clean although it is natural for there to be an occasional accident.
Wonderful policy for visiting at any time after settling in period has been established for the residents to be able to get acquainted and settle in. Activities are related to what is happening in the outside world eg Halloween, Christmas and there are quiet activity rooms and a library. Residents permitted to bring in and dress in personal items. TV communal licence is available if persons would like a TV in their own individual room.

My wife has only been in care for 2 months and the staff have been superb. Any questions answered straight away or some one could give it. They are always checking to make sure she is comfortable or needs changing. Staff are helpful, happy and smiling and always make you welcome.

We have had reason to use all 3 of the homes that make up the Beeches Care Village during the past year and since the new managers arrived in 2015 they have worked hard to make improvements and reduce staff turnover. All the staff are truly caring and treat the residents with dignity, respect and compassion. The homes all have a cheerful atmosphere. Visitors are always warmly welcomed and the staff ensure you are kept informed of any illness or problems however minor.
With the news constantly reporting neglect within the care sector finding a home for a loved relative is hard but there are many good homes and hundreds of unsung heroes working hard every day. I would have no hesitation in recommending Heathmount, Copper Beeches or Silver Birches to anyone looking for residential care for a loved one.
