My mother only stayed at Houndswood House for just over a week before she passed away. The staff were very kind and polite to her and me. She had settled in well and seemed happy. It was a shame that she never got to join in more and mix with more people (due to Covid restrictions) or of course live
longer as it seemed to be giving her a new lease of life.

My uncle has been at Houndswood House for one year, during his time he has been well looked after and cared for. The staff and management have gone out of their way to make him feel comfortable and allowed him the freedom of the grounds. They have adjusted to his needs and kept us (family) in the loop
at any stage of his care. I would recommend this home as they managed well despite Covid restrictions.

I used to come here with my daughter when my husband was here then I came with her to choose a room. I love this room it's so cosy with a very large bathroom, the day and night carers are so kind and the nurses and the cleaning staff. I have made friends with the residents in the lounge. The activities
lady is excellent and gives us exercises with balloons etc., what I like are the quizzes. Staff in the offices are very helpful and the nurses, day and night, and the receptionist.

Every time I came to visit my great aunt, staff always very helpful, impromptu window visits, PPE always to hand, nothing was a problem. Aunt always looked after, clean, happy to the end.
I always left happy in the knowledge that she was comfortable and cared for.

With Covid restrictions, I have seen little inside the care home. My husband was made welcome and helped on arrival. Staff are helpful but very busy. My husband sometimes looks unshaven and untidy. He is fed and given drinks and kept comfortable.

They have done extremely well to keep residents COVID free. During lockdown they’ve regularly updated me and also made the effort to call me so that I can talk with my mother. And when I visited last Monday I was very impressed with their protective procedures to keep COVID free.

My sister-in-law has been in Houndswood House Nursing Home for the past three months. Her entry into the home for me, during this Pandemic, with visits from families being so restricted due to COVID, have been extremely frustrating. I chose H H as I live nearby and I wanted to be able to see her regularly.
Based in one of the Countries most exclusive areas of Hertfordshire, with easy access to London, the M1 and M25 motorways for visitors. I know the home has gone through some major refurbishment and changes over recent years. IT and technology is good. So I have learnt a great deal of how things are in the home via my sister-in-law. She has excellent mental capacity but sadly now requires nursing care. I am told, the manager tours the home seeing residents regularly on a daily basis, which is an excellent sign. During my last visit, she said I am very happy here, all the staff are very kind towards me and I feel like I am in a 5* hotel. What more can I ask for? Thank you to everyone at Houndswood House.

Staff are very willing, management staff not always available - except to my relatives! Food is mediocre. Being under these circumstances, I would not have been here for this long, happy to go, but pretty well card for. I'm sure the facilities would be marvellous under different circumstances.

My mother has been at Houndswood House Care Home for the last 10 months. She entered with the onset of dementia which has gradually over time deteriorated. The staff which includes all staff whether nursing, administrative or peripheral staff are some of the most caring, polite, helpful and thoughtful
people that I have had the pleasure to meet.
From every angle, I have been kept informed of all decisions etc relating to my mother. She is incredibly happy there - as much as it is possible for her to be and I am so grateful to all at Houndswood for their ongoing care and support to my mother, which during the current circumstances of the lockdown is incredibly difficult for them. They are trying to maintain as much contact as possible with family members and I am continuously being called to talk to my mother via videocall. This is not ideal but with the present situation, it is the best solution.
I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Houndswood House to anyone.

My Aunt resides at Houndswood House, she has a beautiful room with a large window and wet room that services her needs very well. All the staff are extremely helpful, professional and polite, they keep me informed of all things relating to my Aunt and invite me up to their review meetings and open days
which are always very well attended. My Aunt is receiving the best care possible at Houndswood House as far as I am concerned, and they cater to her every need as best they can. The grounds surrounding the house are also very well kept and my Aunt enjoys sitting in the conservatory watching the wildlife outside every day.
