I have had to speak to the manager of the home several times about certain things that I didn't like, and she has been excellent, and has sorted out everything that I have asked of her. I can honestly say she has been the best manager since my friend has been there. The chef is going and there is a
new one. I will also say all the time she is in charge I will 100% recommend you as a care home.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.723) out of 10 for Cornford House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.723 for Cornford House is calculated as follows: ( (339 Excellents x 5) + (100 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 451 Ratings = 4.723
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cornford House is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2023

I was born in Dudley, Birmingham and it was there at age 12, I knocked on a neighbour's door to see if she needed any help, it was in that moment I knew what I was going to do when I went to work.

I worked for eleven and a half years with children and young adults with disabilities and epilepsy. I then progressed into working with older people as a Care Assistant in a residential home. I gained my NVQ and became Team Leader and then Deputy. Residential care had its own challenges when it comes to supporting residents living with dementia and resources were not always available to access. I completed my level 5 Management qualification and became a Manager working in nursing care. I find my job rewarding, it is a privilege to be part of someone's life, making a difference, sometimes for a long time, sadly sometimes not so long.

Supporting residents living with dementia, and their families can be a challenge but we always see the person first and the condition second.

I am doing the job I said I would do from the age of 12 and am proud of the difference, no matter how small, I can make.

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2012

As a qualified nurse in Romania, I moved to the UK in 2012, I worked as a carer for the first year until I received my NMC PIN. I then worked as a Registered General Nurse, where I embraced the importance of compassionate care, focusing on both clinical expertise and emotional support for patients. After being promoted to Clinical Nurse, I led my team in providing care rooted in empathy. In 2022, I became Deputy Manager, continuing to combine leadership with a deep commitment to treating everyone with dignity and kindness.

I am the first port of call for new enquiries. I will guide you through the process from enquiry to moving in.

I am family orientated and my work experience has varied over the years. I was a Dental Nurse before I had my children. When my children were young, I worked in Early Years and progressed to Nursery Supervisor.

As my home life evolved, so did my career and I have administration experience in Care Homes and a Neuro Rehabilitation Hospital. All my roles have involved providing a service of care for people in some way.

From experience, I understand that choosing the right care home for a loved one can be daunting and emotional. Helping families on that journey is such an important role and it makes me happy when a new resident arrives and settles, and they and their families become a part of our Cornford family.
