Reviews

9.5 St Margaret's Nursing Home has a Review Score of 9.5 (9.497)

The Review Score of 9.5 (maximum of 10) for St Margaret's Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 27 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for St Margaret's Nursing Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.497 for St Margaret's Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (173 Excellents x 5) + (130 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 318 Ratings = 4.497

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Margaret's Nursing Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 5 positive Reviews (25 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 15 Reviews ÷ 5 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Had nothing but good results. My mum is a different lady and has lots of activities and things to do. She is really happy. If there are any queries then it is sorted straight away. Staff confident in what they do and are helpful to both residents and family. My mum thought the food is very nice.

The staff were lovely. As my mother-in-law was only there 3-4 days it's hard to say more.

The day nurse was very concerned about her comfort so arranged for a doctor to call (unfortunately they didn't come before she died).

I would recommend the nursing home to anyone else.

As a family we couldn't be happier with St Margaret's. My mother has only recently moved to St Margaret's and the care she receives is by far better than her previous home. She has come on in leaps and bounds, she wasn't talking much when she arrived, this has now changed and she talks and we can understand what she says. She looks well, clean and happy.

Always a friendly greeting. All the staff are willing to help in any way they can.
It's a lovely, homely atmosphere. Very clean, no nasty smells. I know my brother is being well cared for. Good quality food - very tasty. A good choice every day. Visitors offered tea or coffee anytime of the day. No set visiting times so can visit whenever it's convenient. I would recommend this home quite happily.

We, as a family, have found St Margaret's Nursing Home very friendly and welcoming. My darling mum is well cared for and always has a lovely smile for us when we visit. Her meals are all home cooked and appetising. All the staff are very kind to mum and think a lot of her, which is so nice to see.

We visited St Margaret's Nursing Home because it was recommended to us. Our first impressions were very favourable and we did not bother looking elsewhere. The manager visited mum for the assessment and we were very impressed with her. The care mum received was very good. Lots of interaction with activities, also activities lady regularly took her out in a wheelchair which mum loved. In mum's last couple of weeks when she was very poorly, she received excellent one to one care from all the staff and was made very comfortable despite their pain and as a family, we were all supported by the manager and her staff.

Our father-in-law only came to live at St Margaret's Nursing Home in December 2016. He settled really quickly. The staff are all friendly and caring, attending to his medical and emotional needs. The manager and her assistant have also been very helpful to us, taking care of all transitional arrangements and whenever we visit, they are very informative about his health and wellbeing. All the staff seem well-informed and interested in their residents. We are always made to feel welcome.

My mum has been cared for by the excellent staff at the St Margarets Nursing Home since August last year, and we are very happy with the level of care, support and dignity received both by my mum and my family when we visit. It is a very welcoming nursing home.

My wife and I live in North America, we flew to England at short notice in order to resettle my sister in a nursing Home as her MS had progressed to the stage where she knew she could no longer look after herself.

We feel extremely lucky to have found St. Margaret's Nursing Home for my sister. The senior nurse and manager assessed my sister at her own flat and within 4 days, my sister had moved into a nice room and was made very welcome by all of the staff. By the time we returned to North America we had seen her well-being improve so that we had no qualms about leaving her in St. Margaret's.

We visited again two months later at Christmas and saw that she had really settled in. The staff are very caring, spend time talking with her and are quite loving towards her. The policy of not making a resident do anything that the resident does not want to do, ensures my sister's dignity and we are confident that as the MS progresses, she will be tenderly cared for until the end.

My father was admitted for end of life care and died at the end of October. I cannot fault his care. As a registered nurse myself, I was aware of the professionalism shown by all members of staff, both qualified and care assistance. This also extends through to all the support staff. My father's physical and emotional needs were fully met with staff going the extra mile, for example, to tempt his appetite. They extended this care and support to all members of our family. Indeed, Dad said to us that he would recommend St Margaret's Nursing Home.

My dad is very happy and he has kept as much independence as he can. He is receiving very good end of life care but still likes to do as much for himself as he can which is what he wants. The staff do as much as they can to always make you welcome with pots of tea, coffee, cake and biscuits and you're always made to feel at home. They're also always there to help and support you in any way they can. That's all the members of staff.

My experience of St Margaret's Nursing Home is of excellence. I have found all of the staff caring, friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. My husband is now bedridden but there is always a friendly face popping in to check on him and make him more comfortable. I have noticed that the staff make an effort to put on various activities for the most mobile residents. I can't really comment on the food as my husband has difficulty swallowing so is on a restricted diet, but they will always offer an alternative to tempt him. His medical care has been faultless and there is always a senior member of staff available is you have any queries.

My husband has been received as if meeting family friends again despite being in a hoist and having to be transferred on a stretcher. This is so refreshing. My husband was discharged from hospital on 28.4.16, into St Margaret's Nursing Home then readmitted to hospital by the diligence of the staff who phoned me up for permission as my husband did not want to go into hospital. As he had been there for 12 weeks previously. My husband was admitted to hospital on 3.5.16 and discharged again on 8.5.16 in very traumatic circumstances. Everything was waiting for him at St Margaret's and I settled him and left the staff to get into a routine with my husband again. Within 24 hours my husband was returning to his old self again. I am confident that he will recover slowly to enable me to take care of him in the near future. We both need time to readjust to the new set of circumstances that we have found ourselves in.

Mum has been in St Margaret's for two years and has been very happy. Unfortunately she is not mobile due to a bad fall 3 years ago, when she broke her hip and arm. The staff and management are terrific with her, she is looked after very well, her room is small but she has everything she needs. She enjoys her meals and as she is diabetic they spoil her by making special foods so she doesn't feel left out. My husband and I enjoy going to the home and are always made very welcome. It is a very happy place, and everyone living there is very well cared for.
