My aunt arrived at Amberley Hall in the Autumn following another spell in hospital . My aunt is unable to manage on her own at home and so Amberley has provided an excellent solution. The arrival arrangements were straightforward and the staff very friendly and welcoming both towards us and my aunt.
Although my aunt still has health limitations, since her arrival at Amberley she has continued to go from strength to strength and is starting to feel more settled. Every time we have visited, the staff have been very helpful and friendly. As her nearest relatives but living almost 200 miles away, we were very concerned to find the right environment for my aunt. Happily, we feel that Amberley is a very good fit. We have appreciated the efforts made by management and the senior care team to keep us informed and feel very reassured that my aunt is in good hands.

My sister entered Amberley Hall when she could no longer be looked after in her own home. The Amberley Hall staff cared for her with great skill and humanity in her last months. I do not think anyone could have done more and I am grateful to them all.

I have recently left Amberley Hall Care Home following my second visit.
My room in the Sandringham suite was very large and had an en-suite bathroom. It was fully equipped and spotlessly clean.
The carers who came to help me shower and dress each morning were always ready to help with anything I
needed. I was able to tell them how they could help me, and they carried out my morning routine with enthusiasm and aplomb.
Food coming from the Amberley Hall kitchen was superb, with several meal options, and in the reception area, there was a refreshments unit serving a wide range of teas and coffees, snacks and crisps and a selection of magnificent homemade cakes.
Entertainment at Amberley Hall included musicians who were brought in to entertain residents, and the staff organised events relating to the time of year.
I consider Amberley Hall to be the best care home in the area, and I thank the staff there for their care, kindness and compassion during my stay.
Reply from Adina Marginean, Generla Manager Amberley at Amberley Hall Care HomeThank you, Debbie, please come back and visit any time.

When we had to make the difficult decision to move my husband's mum into care due to her advancing Alzheimers, we were thankful we discovered Amberley Hall. Events unfolded alongside which meant we also had to ensure his 90-year-old father with advancing Parkinson's had a safe and nurturing place to
take care of him from discharge after 4 months in hospital. The staff are professional, kind, patient and thoughtful towards their residents whilst understanding the needs of the relatives - which is particularly important as we live 120 miles away but need to feel close.

Whenever we visit, the first impressions are entering a lovely, friendly, warm environment, always clean. The staff are amazing and always on hand to help. When we visit it feels very homely and comfortable and relaxed. The nursing staff are brilliant, any questions are answered no matter how busy they
are. Always give you time and this is really important.

The person I support spent two weeks at Amberley hall whilst I was on holiday.
On returning to pick him up, it was a joy to see how well he looked. There was an obvious good relationship with all the staff and it was clear he had been well looked after. Will definitely be returning when a spell of
respite is needed again as it's comforting to know he is happy and safe at Amberley.

Following a crisis with Mum's living arrangements and after viewing other options I found the Amberley Team. Chaos turned quickly into the calm, honest, and professional support we needed to move to the next stage. The home is bright and clean with tea and biscuits on top to ease the nerves. The dreaded
'moving in' day was handled wonderfully and facilitated by the trust Mum quickly developed in the home manager who is a truly exceptional person. One of the hardest decisions I have ever made was made as easy as it can be by the Amberley Team. Thank you!

My husband can't see very much at all and his hearing is very poor without his hearing aids. When visiting him I noticed one hearing aid was sticking out so I removed it and saw that it was in the wrong ear and I think the tubes had been adjusted to make it fit so I tried to put them in the right ears
but couldn't do it so we left them out. To begin with, I thought he wasn't being taken to the dining room because it was easier not to, but I understand now that it was because he didn't want to go and wanted to stay in his room. He was therefore not very happy and was glad to come home.
Reply from Jenny Boulton, Generla Manager Amberley at Amberley Hall Care HomeWe are sorry to hear that not every part of your husband's experience went to plan. We take on board your comments and will work together with our team to provide a better outcome going forward.

Although my Mum's dementia means she no longer knows who I am, I still enjoy my visits to her when I can get to Amberley Hall. I live in Devon and rely on being able to telephone to see how she is. Although I don't speak to Mum (she doesn't really enjoy telephone calls), the staff are always very kind
and helpful and bring me up to date on Mum's general health and activities so I continue to feel involved in her life.

In March when the COVID restrictions were being eased slightly we saw Mum in the reception/coffee lounge area of Amberley for a change (still wearing masks etc). This is a nice bright area where we could have coffee, tea, and cold drinks whilst chatting to Mum, and the change of scenery made for a very
relaxed and enjoyable time. Mum has been in Amberley since October 2020. In that time she has had a few ups and downs but the staff have been absolutely brilliant and have always looked after her well and kept me updated. I call the home regularly and the staff are always happy to talk to me about the things Mum has been up to and if she needs any toiletries or anything else. I know she is in very capable hands and I can’t praise the staff enough for making her so happy and always smiling even though she doesn’t remember them from one hour to the next as she has Alzheimer’s. Keep up the wonderful work.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.579)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.579) out of 10 for Amberley Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 45 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 41 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.579 for Amberley Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (364 Excellents x 5) + (112 Goods x 4) + (36 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 523 Ratings = 4.579
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Amberley Hall Care Home is based on 41 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 106 registered maximum number of service users is 21.2, which has been reached with 41 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Blessy Masilamani

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

Hello, my name is Blessy, and I am the Home Manager here at Amberley Hall.

From a very young age, I knew I wanted to help others, and that passion naturally led me into a career in healthcare. I began my nursing journey over 20 years ago at the highly respected Dr M.G. R. Medical University, Tamil Nadu, India. During this time, I specialised in Haematology and Operative Surgery within a multi-specialist hospital. One of my proudest achievements after obtaining my BSc in Nursing was progressing to Senior Lead Matron and becoming a course tutor for General Nursing.

I continued to build on my knowledge and experience by completing my MSc Mental Health Nursing, and once in the U.K, I went on to work as Clinical Lead and Deputy Manager at a well-regarded care home in Dulwich - further strengthening my commitment to delivering outstanding, person-centred care before moving to King's Lynn in the beautiful county of Norfolk.

Providing exemplary care is at the very heart of everything our team at Amberley Hall does. Nothing matters more to me than ensuring that every resident who makes Amberley Hall their home, or joins us for a short-term respite stay, receives the highest quality of care, dignity, and respect always.

I fully understand the trust that residents and their families place in us when they choose Amberley Hall, and I take this responsibility very seriously. It is a true privilege to get to know our residents and their families and friends, listen to their life stories, and share meaningful moments while creating happy memories in a warm and supportive environment.

If there is ever anything I can do to help, please do not hesitate to get in touch. My door is always open, my team and I will always do our very best to support you, and I look forward to welcoming you to Amberley Hall very soon!

Hello, my name is Arun, and I am the Deputy Manager here at Amberley Hall.

From an early age, I knew that caring for others was my true calling, and supporting people to live with dignity, comfort, and respect has always been my greatest motivation. I obtained my BSc in General Nursing in India, specialising in Intensive Care Nursing, which helped develop my strong clinical knowledge and skills in delivering high-quality care.

In 2021, I moved to the UK to further my career and worked as a Lead Nurse and Peripatetic Deputy Manager for one of the country’s largest care providers, specialising in elderly residential, dementia, and nursing care. This experience allowed me to broaden my leadership skills while continuing to focus on delivering compassionate and person-centred care.

I strongly believe that dignity, kindness, and empathy are the foundations of excellent care, and as Deputy Manager here at Amberley Hall I am incredibly proud to support and mentor such a dedicated team! Every single one of us is committed and driven to ensure that all residents at our home receive outstanding care every single day and always.
