My mum is a resident here and as a family we are over the moon with the care she is recieving. She is checked on all the time.
The staff encourage mum to come out of her room to join in the activities and she really enjoys it.
I have found all the staff to be informative and friendly.
The office
staff and manager are always readily available for a chat.
I would highly recommend this care home.

This home is a delight to visit. It is light and airy and every member of staff you meet greets you with a smile. I was a lay assessor for care homes in the past and this home is by far the best I've ever been in. The rooms are so nice with a feature wall that the maintenance /builder man Daniel has
designed that is so welcoming and pleasing to the eye, makes each room special . The food is beautiful my relative says it's like a 5* restaurant. The activities staff are amazing all sorts going on, the gardening club, trips out , music events, rabbits to hold etc.,
The staff in the home are a team and they are all a very kind ,caring team, all of them deserve a medal. The respect , dignity and love they show to residents is outstanding.
I really think this place is the gold standard, if only all homes could be like this.
I am truly stunned by this home and congratulate the manager and all the staff for the love and care they show my beloved brother in law.

I visited my uncle, unannounced, and was very impressed with the way in which he is being cared for. He has always looked immaculate before he moved in, and he looked immaculate today. His clothes very smart and clean. I joined an activity with him. Bingo. He then felt he didn't want to play and was
given the option to just watch. The member of staff was very up to date with his individual needs and what activities he prefers. Whilst also bearing in mind that he enjoys being quiet. I was very pleased with all I saw.

As a family we would like to express our appreciation for the care our mother received in her final days. We felt supported by the amazing staff at Haughgate House - making this sad time a very special and positive one.
The manager and all staff went above and beyond. They were respectful and professional

We had an amazing experience. The care is provided for physical, emotional, and psychological. There was so much compassion and empathy and for today my Father and all his needs were met to the highest standard.
The staff and managers was also so prepared of the family, myself, my mother and my son.

When I arrived after a knee replacement there was no shower chair, raised toilet seat, sharps box or suitable chair to sit in. Items took 4-7 days to arrive. No running water for 2 mornings. Most of the staff had no or little command of the English language nor understanding of caring needs. No visit
to my room by the manager to check everything was in order. Noisy room next to lift especially during the night. Woken at 7am, no breakfast until after 9am. Food was not appetising a bad experience, leaving me depressed.

I just wanted to pass on how happy my brothers and I are for Mum's care. We appreciate how much is on offer activity-wise and how hard you all work to help Mum engage - we also appreciate this can be tricky when my stepfather sometimes prevents this engagement.
Mum is physically so much more healthy
than she has been in a long time and it's a relief to see how content she always is - we are so grateful.

Having checked a few nursing homes for our dad after several bad falls and a miserable stay in hospital, I have to say that Haughgate House was literally a breath of fresh air. Tasteful decor, spotlessly clean but with a warm homely feeling. We knew this would be a difficult move for Dad as leaving
his home and especially his garden was not ever considered but was welcomed with open arms by all staff, going above and beyond their care to ensure Dad is happy and safe. Dad loves the food and is really looking forward to spring when he can venture into the garden. So a huge thank you to everyone for all the hard work they have put into making a place to call home and allowing us as a family to put the worries of Dad's care to one side and just enjoy special visits with him!

When it is considered that the resident is expecting to receive all the welfare issues for someone in care. However, as my wife is 75, she does have a little difficulty with activities due to limited movement. The wider issues of her care is very satisfactory when you consider the mental issues that
she has and need a slightly different approach. There is the added advantage that visitors receive when visiting residents.

We were so impressed from the moment we visited Haughgate House to see if it was the right place for Dad. Now Dad is a resident. we are so happy he is there. All staff from the manager, back office, activity, kitchen and care staff are wonderful. When you enter it feels like home, staff engage with
Dad allowing him to hear their experiences and for him to share his. Haughgate House has provided a safe, caring and varied environment removing all the worries and concerns we had as a family. Thank you!

Both my over ninety year old parents were moved to Haughgate House following a traumatic stay in hospital after a joint fall. They were given side by side bedrooms and visits to see each other facilitated whenever desired. They even managed to get my completely immobile dad onto my mum's bed for a last
cuddle. Sadly, Mum's time there was only three weeks and Dad five, but they made sure that it was a stay with dignity and kindness. So many caring people; the nurses, healthcare assistant and wonderful kitchen staff always made us as comfortable as our parents (including providing several of us wonderful meals). They facilitated a stay with my mum around the clock for my sister, niece and I whilst Mum was dying. We won’t ever forget that and all the carers. A particular thank you to one young carer whose warmth with my dad was the only thing that could light him up at times; holding his hand, giving him a hug and patiently feeding him. We will forever be in your debt. Thank you!

When choosing a care home for my parents it was a hard process, however, Haughgate House Nursing Home were very understanding and supportive. My parents have been at Haughgate for nearly two years and in that time the staff have been very professional, friendly and very approachable. The activities/outings
are excellent with lots of variety. The summer fete and Christmas bazaar were well attended which confirmed this. I also value the opportunity to attend relatives' meetings which is a good form of communication. The kitchen staff are very friendly towards the residents and the food is excellent. Haughgate House does feel very homely which I feel my parents need, which ultimately is down to all the amazing staff who work very hard to achieve this.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.442)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.442) out of 10 for Haughgate House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.642 for Haughgate House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (116 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 148 Ratings = 4.642
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Haughgate House Nursing Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
