My Auntie and best friend was 94 years old this month in the care home.
The staff are constantly a pleasure and a delight to know. The appreciation particularly on my part, as well as my aunts, is threefold. They’d supplied her with a most beautiful tea party for her birthday in a wonderfully ‘old
fashioned' way which was simply heartwarming.
Whenever my aunt is asked either by myself (whose 300 miles away and in weekly face time contact with her) and her nearest long term friend who visits a few times a week, is she happy, she always answers “yes I am, I’m very well cared for here and very lucky, the staff are wonderful". What better to hear than that can I ask .
A certain member of staff (not allowed to say names, she knows who she is though) has been my right arm! She makes sure my aunt has regular fresh flowers at my request. As all I can say is, it’s a worry when your nearest and dearest have to be homed but I fear nothing at this home.

I have been at Avocet Care Home since September 2018. Their staff are friendly, funny and kind, they have a job to do but still have time to chat.
The management team are always around and would listen to any queries I had.
I am fairly independent but if I need help the staff are quick to respond.

It's always daunting having to place a loved one in a care home. But from the moment I turned up for my unexpected show round/ visit, I was instantly put at ease and all my fears disappeared. The team are so very welcoming, friendly, kind and caring. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. They
went out of their way to find out everything about dad and his personality to ensure I was shown the right house and the right environment. They were very open and honest and there was certainly no hard sell. They made everything easy for me and the rest of the family. Dad is so very happy, which in turn helps us relax knowing that he is in very safe hands.

My husband's auntie was cared for by the staff at Avocet Court in her final days. As a family, we couldn’t have asked for better care. We were very anxious as we had a bad experience before with care homes, from the day my relative was admitted to the home we were put at ease. Not only did the staff
on the unit provide excellent care, the management team were fantastic, they communicated with us on a daily basis and always had time to listen to us. Once again we as a family can’t thank the staff enough they have totally restored our trust with the care industry.

I cannot praise the staff and management team enough for the wonderful care they provided my mother during her stay at Monmouth court. The staff were beyond amazing and the management team so approachable and supportive, this could be sensed a mile off. The facilities were fantastic and food wonderful,
especially the afternoon tea held on Wednesdays but he home manager and deputy. The team listened to the needs of my mother and went out of their way to accommodate. We were always greeted at the main reception with a warm welcome and felt that we could discuss anything we needed with the team. The unit staff were so welcoming to us at all times and it really had a homely feel which was important to us.
Thank you so much for all you did for her during her stay.

The care given to my father is outstanding, the staff is so wonderful and understanding.
I live in America and can only get here for a couple weeks per year but I call weekly and they never hesitate to put Dad on the phone. Their interactions with him are always respectful even now as his health deteriorates.
I can’t say enough good things about Monmouth Court Care Home.

I think the residents are settled and happy with carers and the atmosphere seems a lot better. The staff are always willing to listen if asked questions. The activities are a lot better since the home has changed hands and I have no worries with my mother in here.

Nursing staff, carers and management staff looked after my father in the final four months of his life showing amazing compassion, kindness and a great deal of loving care which was a great comfort to my mother, my sister and me. They kept us well informed and always seemed to have time to go the extra
mile.
Whilst he was bedridden and unable to participate in the wider life of the home our frequent visits meant that we were able to observe much of the everyday life of the home and were impressed with the efforts the staff went to, to give residents thoughtful entertainment - even bringing in a lamb for them to bottle feed!
Unlike many institutions, the home always seemed clean and odour free and although the rooms are older they have garden views and a pleasing house system.
Many thanks to everyone.

Staff very friendly and look after people well, food good and good choice. Room could do with some paint. Plenty of things for residents to do during the day and staff good at getting people included.

My Stepfather seems really settled in the home and the most settled he has been since his diagnosis. The staff are friendly and make us feel welcome providing us with coffee/tea, cakes.
The level of care is very good and I feel safe in the knowledge that my step father is kept safe which saves us
from unnecessary worry.
The food that is provided is very good with several choices.
The home is clean and fresh and has a decorative theme in the lounge/dinning room which is changed regularly, this makes the home very cheerful for residents and family members when visiting.
The management staff are approachable and will phone my if any problems arise.
Residents are involved in several activities including bingo, quizzes, games, afternoon tea and days out.
Security is excellent with key coded doors ensuring residents are safe.
Meetings are held on a monthly basis and more changes are to be made which is positive.
I would thoroughly recommend this care home to others.

My aunt moved to Monmouth Court Nursing Home in June 2015 at the age of 94. She was reluctant to leave her own home and did not find the move easy. From the onset, she was treated with nothing but kindness and understanding by the staff at Monmouth Court. Her nursing care was exemplary in all respects.
She grew to care for those at Monmouth Court in return and by the time of her death in December 2016 she regarded it as her home.

My Dad was looked after at 'Monmouth Court Care Home' for the last 7 months of his life. We found the staff at the home excellent. They were all very friendly, caring and hard working. While Dad was there, they received as a whole an inadequate from the 'Care Quality Commission'. This is a shame, as
I could not think how this reflected on 'Monmouth Court Care Home'. I have to say before Dad died, about 2 weeks I think, a relief handover was installed. She seemed much more approachable than the previous one and was often seen talking to residents and relations. I had never seen this before!

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.735)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.735) out of 10 for Avocet Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 61 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 60 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.735 for Avocet Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (547 Excellents x 5) + (141 Goods x 4) + (24 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 712 Ratings = 4.735
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Avocet Court Care Home is based on 60 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 153 registered maximum number of service users is 30.6, which has been reached with 60 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
