Abbot's Leigh Manor nursing home is an home from home. Dad stayed at the home until recently when he sadly passed away. The level of care is outstanding from the carers to the nurses and all staff. Kathy the manager runs a very smooth organize home from the moment you enter the home All staff make you feel so welcomed.dad was always treated with dignity and care and was very happy in the home. The home is always spotlessly clean and the meals are freshly cooked and very tasty. We would like to thank everyone for taking such good care of dad and treating him like he was one of your own family.

If anyone is looking for the perfect home from home to leave a loved one then I would highly recommend this perfect home.

My Mother has been a resident at Abbots Leigh Manor Nursing Home for over 8 years now and continues to well cared for by all of the staff. Although very reluctant at the beginning to settle in, my Mother now is a very happy resident and very much regards Abbots Leigh as her home. The staff are always very friendly and go out of their way to help my Mother who now unfortunately has very restricted mobility.
Observing my Mother's experience at Abbots Leigh over many years has changed my perception of nursing homes-this home is indeed a very caring and safe environment. I could not wish for my Mother to be anywhere else.

Chris (Son).

This is s truly outstanding nursing home. The staff looked after my mother and father exceptionally well; they were both treated with the greatest dignity and were given friendship and wonderful care. When my parents moved in they were understandably trepidatious, but Kathy and her staff quickly settled them in and saw them through to their ends. I will be forever grateful. A friend of mine is now there and she is receiving the same levels of thoughtful compassion. The place is superbly well run. There is excellent staff retention. It is traditional in its values and in its atmosphere. The gardens are beautiful. I have only the warmest memories.

Mum has been a resident at Abbots Leigh since January 2026. Mum has a lot of needs which requires nursing care. We are a large & close family & we've all found the staff so attentive & caring - nothing is too much trouble. We feel at peace mum is in the best place which provides a warm, friendly , caring professional , safe & calm environment . Kathy the home manager is friendly & approachable. All the staff are very friendly & helpful. The home provides entertainment for all the residents , despite mums disabilities they involve her in all the activities . The meals are plentiful , offering a menu choice to suit all dietary requirements. The rooms are all comfortable & clean. From day one mum was made to feel welcome , cared for , comfortable & at home. Overall I would highly recommend Abbots Leigh.

Mum has been at Abbots Leigh Manor for 8 months and her experience has been excellent. I can't recommend it enough! Don't be put off by the lack of slick marketing and sales.

The manager Kathy, reception staff, carers, nurses, cleaning staff and activity coordinators are wonderful. Everyone is friendly and calm and my mum said she immediately felt safe and cared for.

The gardens are truly wonderful and every room has a beautiful view. Mum's room is comfortable and she loves going to the dining room for lunch and tea and chatting to new friends.

The activities are on every day morning and afternoon and are great fun and very inclusive. Every couple of months there are professional entertainers who are great to watch (I've been there for several performances!). Mum loves the art activities.

I pop in all times of day and its always welcoming. I do mum's hair in the onsite salon, but there's also a weekly hairdresser.

I recommend a visit. You won't regret it!

When my wife's health started to deteriorate she always said that the only place she wanted to go was Abbots Leigh. She has now been living there for the last 10 months and was helped to settle in by all the very kind and caring staff. Everyone is so welcoming from the minute you arrive at reception and it always feels so homely with visitors able to pop in at any time.
The activities are great and so well led and coordinated by all the team; we value these so much for creating such a stimulating environment for the residents.

All in all, what could have been a very difficult transition has been made so much easier by Kathy the manager, and every member of the team. Thank you.

Since My step mum was taken to this home ,what can i say but, she is a different person, When she arrived she was in a total state of confusion after having a bad fall at home.
The staff were just amazing with her, they listened to her and helped her from day one, now 6 weeks on she is like a totally different person , she laughs jokes , walks un aided and seems to be back to her normal self (still forgetting a few things,But thats her age ) Over the years i have visited this type of home and i just have to say THANK you for being so patient, they never over do things and they keep her wanting to get on , unlike some that leave their clients to sit and dream. Her room is without doubt a room with a view and she loves it.

I would recommend them fully to anyone who is looking for a HOME that CARES.

My father was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2019. He lived alone in Essex, and I bought him over to Abbots Leigh Care Home in July 2022 after several falls and a cataract op. I had looked at several other homes and knew they would not be suitable. Abbots Leigh came highly recommended by a close friend. It took Dad some months to settle, but the care and kindness of staff; the relief from chronic loneliness; long talks to Carers in the early hours of the morning; the resident cat, beautiful gardens, 2 ponies to visit and home cooked food slowly helped him relax. Dad was never going to be one for 'activities' but he loved the concerts and visits by children. He was encouraged to find his own way to feel at home and found a spot where he could sit and chat all day to staff and passers by. As he relaxed he would laugh and joke and tell long (often fanciful) stories. Yes, of course there were bad days, but I never regretted the move from Essex and the fact that Abbots Leigh made Dad's last years as good as they could be.

Mum and Dad both in their 90's moved to Abbots Leigh Manor in July 2024. Mum with Cognitive impairment and Dad with heart problems. Unfortunately Dad passed in September 2024. During his short stay he was looked after by various members of staff who were all caring and compassionate. The home manager was always available to us during this difficult time. Mum has stayed in the home and all the staff helped her settle in after the passing of her husband of 70 years. Abbots is in a great location with both the home and extensive gardens are well maintained. The activities staff work hard to engage with the residents to make daily life in an old peoples home as varied as it can be. Any issues with mum are recorded and promptly communicated to me. My wife's employment required her to visit most of the homes in the Bristol area and cannot she cannot think of a better place for my mother to be. I would not hesitate to recommend Abbots leigh Manor.

I cannot fault the care provided at Abbotts Leigh. Each and every member of staff seems to take ride in their work and show nothing but kindness to residents.

My sister has now lived there for nearly 8 months and is settled and content. Her room is beautiful and always clean and fresh. She eats well and has even gained a little weight. As a family we could not ask for more. I visit 3 or 4 times a week and am always greeted with warmth.

Mum has been at Abbots Leigh for around 18 months following a severe stroke. She has significant care needs and the staff at the home helped her settle in quickly and are always friendly and caring. when mum has experienced periods of discomfort they have identified the problem and taken appropriate action promptly. When we visit we are always made to feel welcome and the atmosphere feels like one big family. There are always different activities happening and the activities team are always open to suggestions for more options. The manager is always happy to discuss any aspect of mums care and any concerns we might have. We are very happy with the care mum has received at Abbots Leigh and would recommend it to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one (or Themselves).

Abbots Leigh Nursing home has been wonderful for my Mum for the last 10 months. She settled in very quickly at the beginning of her time there because she had been a few times for respite care in 2024 so it was very familiar to her.

The staff and Management have made her feel welcome and safe. They are very kind, caring, attentive and considerate. My Mum particularly loves the activities as there is always something on that she finds entertaining. We really appreciate the home cooked food and thought that goes into freshly prepared meals. I always talk about Abbots Leigh very highly to others, and so does my Mum.

My mother has lived at Abbots Leigh Manor for over a year and is very well settled there , thanks to the support of Kathy and her excellent team. Everyone - nursing staff, carers, wellbeing team, reception, gardener - do their bit to make this a comfortable, welcoming and inviting place to live. My mother particularly loves the view from her room, the garden, which is beautiful by any standards, the programme of creative and cultural activities and trips out, especially if they involve an art gallery and a stop for cake somewhere.
The team have supported her health and wellbeing on every level - with problems identified quickly and appointments or interventions managed efficiently. It is such a relief not to have to worry if she is OK or whether an issue needs medical attention.

The village has a lovely cafe in the pub (fire in winter, garden in summer) and we have become regulars. The garden centre down the road has a nice tea shop too. I could not recommend AL more highly.

I have been a resident at Abbots Leigh nursing home on three separate occasions for periods of six months or more receiving respite care.
Prior to Abbots Leigh, I spent time in two other care homes nearby and neither were able to offer the quality of care and attention that I now receive.
The food is fresh and plentiful with choices at every meal. I enjoy a full English breakfast, cooked lunch and homemade soups in the evening.

I feel very fortunate to have found this nursing home and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

This review is well overdue so thought it was time to put pen to paper so to speak.
My Dear Mother spent over 18 months at Abbots Leigh Manor until her passing last September, she had been very happy during her stay and had a wonderful room overlooking the garden and green fields beyond (always trying to spot the occasional deer in the long grasses). She thoroughly enjoyed the food especially the roast lunches on a Wednesday and Sunday, she was regularly asked if she had any particular favourites not listed on the everyday extensive menu and if she had the chef would kindly oblige. She loved the beautiful well stocked gardens and loved to take part in the Wednesday garden club which is extremely popular with the residents.

During the end of Mum's life, the dignity, respect and care shown by the staff was exceptional and a great comfort to me during that very difficult time.

Glad Mum is cared for here. The room is homely and cosy. She's not demanding but feels a little more attention would do no harm considering she pays the same amount as residents who are completely dependable on carers. She's left to her own devices a lot of the time and moans to her offspring which we can't do anything about. We do our best to make her feel happy but the food is the main issue. It's bland and simple so she looks forward to us taking her home-cooked meals. We aren't a family to judge but for the money to stay here things could be improved.

Thank you for leaving a review. We are pleased to hear that you are glad your mother is cared for at Abbots Leigh Manor but we are disappointed to hear that she 'moans' to you because she tells us that she's happy to be with us. Our father was admitted from hospital for end-of-life care. Dad's room was large, airy, bright, and beautifully decorated with wonderful views of fields.
He was cared for by the very best carers one can find. Kind caring respectful and diligent.

My mother moved into Abbots Leigh Manor Nursing Home in January 2022 and was there until her death in September 2023. I never thought she would settle into a care home, having lived independently until the age of 92, but she very quickly grew to love life at Abbots Leigh and once told me: "It's the best place I've ever lived". The staff are unfailingly kind to both residents and families. The medical care is excellent. When Mum died, the staff reacted as if there had been a death in the family, which was immensely touching. The rooms are beautiful and there are good views from all of them - either of fields or of the Bristol Channel.

A meeting was recently held in which residents were given a chance to vent any criticisms. No one could find anything bad to say and instead made a vote of thanks to the manager, followed by a round of applause. That said it all.
