My mum has been a resident in the Leonard Elms for 4 years She sadly passed away on Monday. I have said before how amazing this team is and the end of life care my mum received has been exemplary. The whole time mum was there the care team have supported us so well. I have never had to fight for anything. They have always been so transparent with everything and worked so well with the dr surgery. I have not had to worry about social work issues or funding issues. Ive been so well supported and you need this because its such an emotional time having your wonderful mum In care. She has lived 4 years with another family and has been treated as family with love, care and compassion. The educational standard there is outstanding and Optima care are fantastic. Special Thankyou to the amazing Manager Katie Maidment, so professional and knowledgeable. Nurses are amazing and the carers amazing. We are eternally grateful for the outstanding care give to mum and the love shown to her
Caring for your mum has been an absolute privilege. Thank you for trusting us.
Receiving such lovely feedback and knowing that we made a difference is really valued and appreciated. Thank you.
The team and are are thinking of you with fond memories of mum.
Sending our best wishes to you and the family
Katie
In all the time that my mum was at the Home, she received excellent care from the care team and the nursing team. Their dedication and care of the residents is second to none. The atmosphere in the home is like one large family, with many of the staff having been there for a number of years.
The nursing team are excellent and on occasions when my mum has been very poorly, they have acted very professionally, with a calm and caring nature, giving me regular updates.
The Manager is excellent. Always very approachable, offering support when required with any issues that may arise.
They have a family liaison carer, who gives emotional support to families and holds a monthly coffee morning at the home for relatives. She is a fantastic support to any relative who may be struggling with having to place their loved one in a home.
I would highly recommend this care home.
Thank you Louise for such lovely feedback, We really do appreciate it. Best Wishes
From the beginning of my husband's stay at The Leonard Elms (nearly 3 years), I have been very happy with the care he has received. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they will often go the extra mile to ensure the comfort and well-being of the residents. Visitors are allowed any time (pandemics permitting)! and always made very welcome. I would recommend the home to anyone seeking specialist dementia care.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We really do appreciate your feedback.
The care, attention and love to our family member was extremely high standard, all four years Dad was with his Elm's family. All staff supported us all in many different ways.
Best wishes to you all.
My mum has been a resident for 2 1/2 years with dementia which has been and is very distressing for her family. However, our distress has been mitigated by the high standard of care both she and we experience from the staff. During Covid, a hard time for everyone and particularly for nursing home staff, communication was good and since then, the staff have accommodated the needs of the residents and their families as best they can. As my mum's condition has worsened and as an ex-nurse myself, I have been impressed by the high standard of nursing care carried out by all grades of staff.
Unfortunately, covid has restricted the number of times I have visited my husband, who has been in the care home for six months. However, on these visits, I have found the staff attentive, helpful and friendly. My son, my daughter and I are happy with the care and facilities he has at The Leonard Elms care home.
The care of my husband is exemplary. The staff are kind and caring to both myself and my husband. they go to great lengths to ensure that my husband has food that he can both eat and enjoy. He is content and kept clean and tidy. He can walk around unhindered, which he needs to. He is well looked after.
We particularly appreciated how caring the staff were in Dad's final few days, which included great care about his comfort and wellbeing as well as great compassion for the members of the family, who visited. We can’t thank you all enough for your kindness and compassion.
The staff at The Leonard Elms Care Home nursed my mother during the last weeks of her life with the greatest respect, dignity and love from the moment she arrived. My son and I were also cared for with the utmost kindness, surrounded by a warm, family atmosphere. A truly professional, caring team of remarkable people.
Thank you, Christine. It was a privilege for us all to be able to look after you all.
My husband moved into The Leonard Elms in July 2020, right in the middle of the Covid pandemic. It was a very difficult time as I was unable to visit the home to view his room and facilities. The management and staff were very understanding and helpful. I only got to see my husbands room in the last few days of his life in January. So I'm unable to rate everything. I cannot fault the care he was given.
My mother was a resident in The Leonard Elms Care Home for almost 18-months. I cannot fault the care she received from both the nursing and care staff at the home. They were very patient, showed great respect to my mother, and helped her in many ways to have a happy time there a possible. The management team were always very approachable and helpful and were always happy to assist when I called to speak with my mother. The only comment I would make regarding any improvements that can be made is that the entertainment provided to the residents could be improved. Even before the Covid pandemic, there was not a lot of organised activities to occupy mothers mind. However, I know they are aware of this and talking to address.
My husband was a resident at The Leonard Elms Care Home for twelve months. The kindness he received from staff and management was very good and I had no worries whatsoever.
All the team send you their kindest regards.
Best Wishes
Katie
My brother was very happy at The Leonard Elms Care home and received good care. Thank you.
Both my parents have resided at The Leonard Elms Care Home for a number of years and have always received the greatest respect from all the staff. They provide excellent care and ensure my parents have everything they need. Sadly my father died on the 15th June 2020, but, despite Covid-19 the care and compassion he received during his last days were wonderful. He always said it was " The best care home in the world". These are carers who are and they respected his dignity to the end. I can only say thank you to them.
Love and best wishes from Katie and the team.
Finding The Leonard Elms has been a total blessing for my mother and my family and that's entirely due to the excellent management there and the high-quality care, lovingly and professionally provided by all the nursing and care staff. The individual care my mother enjoys is tailored around her needs and gracefully given. Mum is no longer stressed or frightened (as she has been elsewhere), but feels happy, well supported and relaxed. Nurses and care staff (and managers), are proactive and I feel I don't have to be constantly on guard for, and chasing problems - the staff are fully across my mother's needs and we couldn't be happier. Currently, there's a lack of activities, but managers are acting on this and looking to employ an activities coordinator. Great.
It also meant a great deal when a senior member of staff attended her funeral many miles away from the home.
My husband was in this home for approximately 7 years. He had vascular dementia and was looked after by very caring staff. The home has been amazing, not only to my husband but to me and our children. Nothing has ever been too much for them in dealing with a resident with dementia and all the challenging behaviours which, unfortunately, comes with the illness. He was very happy from the start of his stay up until he received excellent end of life care. All staff at the home have been amazing and I cannot thank them enough. I would recommend this home to anyone.
It was the second time I have asked The Leonard Elms to assist in the palliative care of a relative, and on both, very sad occasions the compassion, care, help, advice, support and friendliness was of the highest standard.
I will always be grateful to all the lovely staff who looked after my lovely Dad.
Amanda, thank you for your kind words so soon after the loss of your Father; as you know we were pleased to help and care for your father and our staff are appreciative of the kindness you have shown to them. The manager and staff send their love.
During the early years, the staff were allowed to assist him getting into and out of our car, but due to his frailty, he was unable to go out as the care home said, due to health and safety, they were unable to help. I used wheelchair taxis for hospital appointments and occasional trips.
From the time we first arrived to mothers passing, which was under 2 weeks, every member of staff was courteous, friendly and always able to spare time to talk which was very comforting. I do not have much experience of care homes, but if The Elms is typical then the service on offer is first class.
Thank you for your kind feedback, much appreciated.
