Reviews

8.2 St Vincent's has a Review Score of 8.2 (8.163)

The Review Score of 8.2 (maximum of 10) for St Vincent's is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for St Vincent's in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.063 for St Vincent's is calculated as follows: ( (33 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.063

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.1 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Vincent's is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

    2. Target of 5 positive Reviews (25 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 5 Target = 0.600

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My dad has been at St Vincent's since January 2016 and I could not be happier with his care. As soon as I visited to view the home I knew as a retired Priest it was the place for him to be. My mum died earlier this year and both he and my brother and I have received amazing support from all the staff. The staff now feel like my second family. We know he is cared for at such a high standard both physically and emotionally. I can't thank all the staff enough for all they do.

My mother-in-law entered the home in August 2016 and remained there until she passed away in September. Because my in-laws did not wish to be parted the home made it possible for my farther-in-law to stay at the home also and he remained for a period after his wife's passing. They had a double room on the first floor with easy access to toilet and bathing facilities.
The home makes it really easy for visitors with an open door policy for the family which really helps. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming to visitors.
I cannot stress enough how supportive the staff were to all the family during this difficult time. The care given was excellent and I was really impressed with the way the staff would take the time to sit and chat with them which really helped. The care my mother-in-law received was first rate with the staff not only being caring but also thoughtful ensuring she kept her dignity until the end. They then supported my father-in-law until he was ready to return to his own home.

My Father has been residing at St Vincent's since September 2014, the staff are professional, friendly and caring, nothing is too much trouble even on a busy day. The home is spotlessly clean and well maintained. My Father is very contented at St Vincent's, has a lovely room overlooking the garden and enjoys the home cooked food brought to him regularly throughout the day. During times when he has been unwell, the nursing staff have provided excellent care and kept me informed of their actions. I visit regularly three times every week and am always made welcome and provided with refreshments. Highly recommended.

My Friend is a 99-year-old diabetic. When asked if there was more for pud than just custard the response was "you're diabetic - you can't eat the puddings here". He was then brought thick slices of banana - too big for the teaspoon he was given.
He was refused access to the garden as "He's been rude to the nurse so he can stay put". There were no trips and no evidence of entertainment. Unable to walk and half blind his tablets and water were placed out of reach "to make him independent".
A request for a special cushion to help a bottom sore - "that would mean getting the occupational therapists in". It didn't happen. Fingernails never cut and scratched him. Clothes were dirty and looked unwashed, as did my friend quite often. Staff refused to help with hearing aids claiming lack of experience. The food was uninspiring.
He is an intelligent, dignified man and I felt desperately sad to see him being treated in such a demeaning way. Thank God he escaped to a better nursing home.
