Popham Court

Courtland Road, Wellington TA21 8NF

Popham Court provides person-centred residential and nursing care, as well as day care, on a charming site that has award-winning gardens. Interiors have been lovingly converted to suit modern care practices. Care and support is provided in two separate nursing and residential homes on the same site, meaning that if a resident’s care needs become more complex they can remain in the same area rather than having to move away.

Residents are supported to live an active and independent lifestyle, as well as being able to personalise their own bedrooms, have access to IT facilities, and a nutritious diet with meals prepared daily on-site to suit a range of dietary needs.

Staff receive significant induction and ongoing training to ensure a high standard of quality care.

Overview

The Review Score of 8.1 (maximum of 10) for Popham Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Popham Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.722 for Popham Court is calculated as follows: ( (82 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.722

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.385 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Popham Court is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 14.8 positive Reviews (74 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 14.8 Target = 0.135

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

8.1 Popham Court has a Review Score of 8.1 (8.107) from 9 Reviews

I cannot speak highly enough of the care Mum was given by the kind staff at The Court.

The peace of mind this gave us during a difficult time was immeasurable, and we cannot thank the staff enough.

Amazing care in every way, both for the cared-for and the relatives. Mum had advanced dementia and was superbly cared for right from day one right up to the end. At the end the level of care for mum and indeed for myself and my father was exemplary and as someone who works for adult social services, I have no hesitation saying this. Great staff, consistent staff too, warm, friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. Good food and activities. Lovely garden. Just simply great in every way.

To all the staff who cared for mum/granny thank you we are so grateful for the homely and welcoming atmosphere at the home where staff were friendly and warm and treated the residents as individuals. Mum loved the garden and appreciated having easy access tot he safe outside area with circular paths suitable for the frame. Granny really enjoyed the range of activities provided and took part wholeheartedly with art, music, singing and games. The activities lady brought great joy and laughter to granny and the other residents during the sessions.

The staff are so lovely with all the residents and their family. The deputy manager is so kind and helpful with family and staff. She needs a big reward for what she does in her job.

I was given the information about Popham Court from some friends. My very dear friend who needed to be in a care home was taken there. She received very good care and kindness at all times (my friend was very independent, so not easy).
I think it take very special people to be in the care field, and I believe Popham Court carers etc. are the best of them.

My mother has been a resident at Popham House for just over five years and is approaching her 97th Birthday. I cannot imagine a better situation for her. She is cherished and receives real care and attention from attentive and caring staff. The home is always very clean and has no unpleasant odours of any kind. The kitchen provides well presented also varied menus. Lots of activities if so desired. An attractive garden even a delightful resident cat much loved and pampered by many residents, knowing what can happen elsewhere I am eternally grateful that my mother managed to secure accommodation here.

Thank you to the staff at Popham for their kindness and support when my dear Grandma passed away early on Saturday. Grandma was treated so well and so were we. You cannot fake that level of kindness

My grandmother needed some respite care after a fall, she is 90 and has always been very independent. She attends Popham Court one day a week for a bath and asked to go there for a week to recover. My nan can be very challenging but I cannot fault the home in all aspects of her stay with them. The welcome was brilliant and all my family that visited felt welcome too. My nan has really enjoyed her stay and looks so much better. The care is second to none as all the staff are brilliant with nan. The home is clean, comfortable and has a lovely atmosphere. I would recommend it highly
