Thank you for your kind comments regarding your Mother’s care at Hodge Hill Grange. Although we understand your frustrations with visiting, all Birmingham homes are in lockdown currently, due to high levels of infection in the area, therefore this is not a decision made by the home. Staff are working hard to prepare their visiting room for indoor visits and we will be in contact as soon as possible to advise you when these can take place.

Thank you for raising your concerns with us. I am sorry that you found the kitchen area to be below the standard expected. Regular walks around the home are undertaken by management and as part of this spot checks of the kitchen areas and fridges are completed. I have spoken with housekeeping colleagues and raised your concerns with them and they are now paying extra attention to the kitchen areas as a result. Relatives meetings are displayed and these are planned wherever possible in advance, in order to ensure relatives have the opportunity to attend. I cannot comment in relation to the issue you raised relating to your relative via this forum but would be happy to meet with you to gain more information, in order to investigate this. Please be advised that I operate an open door policy and am happy to deal with any such situations as they arise.

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Karen Mayo has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.
Having worked at Hodge Hill since mid-August 2021, Karen closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.
When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Karen remarked:
“Knowing that I’m helping to make a difference in our resident’s day. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a smile on someone’s face and knowing you helped to put it there”.
Karen has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest achievement being getting her driving licence. Karen had always relied on family to get her where she needed to be but in 2019 decided it was time to bite the bullet and start some driving lessons. She passed the first time within 4 ½ months.
Outside of work, Karen enjoys spending time with her family, she is a proud mother and grandmother. Whenever she can, Karen will have days out with her family and also enjoys reading in her spare time.
