My uncle was a resident at Rylands for as long as I can remember - very long time.
The care my uncle received at Rylands was truly second to none. I could write all day about how amazing, thoughtful, and respectful the staff are. They treated both my uncle and our entire family with the utmost dignity and compassion.
Over time, he grew to love the staff dearly and genuinely considered them part of his family.
We are incredibly grateful for the love and support he was shown during his time there. Even after his passing, the staff's dedication has not stopped. Running into them out in the community, they always kindly check in and ask how my mum is doing. Hearing them share their fond memories and stories of my uncle brings us so much comfort.
The staff were incredibly dedicated and always more than happy to communicate with us when he wasn't well, or if they thought he needed hospital, no matter the time.

Rylands is an exceptional place, and we cannot thank the team enough

Our elderly Mum was sent to The Rylands following a six week spell in hospital for continued health care and respite.
The staff were all absolutely amazing - nothing seemed too much trouble and they took excellent care of her.
They were also very accommodating when family members visited.
Although Mum was not able to eat very much during her time there, the food we saw for the residents looked and smelt lovely.
We were allowed to take a few bits from home in for Mums allocated room and she had her own toilet and wash basin. She was treated to some lovely baths during her 5 weeks there with careful staff supervision.
They certainly played a huge part in helping our Mum to recover and be well enough to get back home.
I feel like we made some lovely friends at The Rylands and we will pop back and support them when they have events on.

They also have a lovely garden space which Mum loved to sit in when able to do so.

My dad has been here for 6 weeks now and I can honestly say that it was the best decision that was made, the care staff bend over backwards for him, they always take the time out of their very busy day to sit and chat with him, always make conversation with all his visitors, always friendly and nothing is too much trouble, the food is always fresh and looks delicious and throughout the home its always clean and tidy, the management of this home is second to none, well organised and thorough with all that they do, you can see that a mile away, I would highly recommend this home to anyone.

Very caring and professionally run. Carers appear to genuinely care about the residents. All residents appear well dressed, clean and tidy. Managerial issues dealt with promptly, efficiently and professionally. Lockdown restrictions abided to completely. A concern is that the one and only lift is now becoming prone to failing more often and as Mum is on the second floor, I worry about her in the unlikely event of a fire. Would be nice to see more residents up and about earlier in the day and more entertainment provided to stimulate the residents, both mentally and physically on a daily basis. Overall, I find the home to be a safe environment with excellent carers and well-structured management.

Thank you for your comments. We are waiting on a part for the lift and engineers have attended (after showing proof of a negative LFD) each time there has been an issue. Unfortunately, we do not have engineers on-site so sometimes there may be an hour or 2 until they can get to us. I hope that I...

Overall Experience

Mum was admitted to The Rylands after a fall and unable to return home. I was very worried as we had a bad experience with my mother-in-law and care homes. The health and safety of residents and all staff is top priority here. The staff are very professional but also very friendly, in Mums words, they will do anything for you, nothing is too much trouble. They have special days, including dressing up and the staff join in with so many smiling faces. The entertainment is great, indoors and outside and enjoyed by all. The food is very good and varied including treat days. I cannot praise enough the care and safety of all residents during this Covid-19 pandemic and the lengths all staff have gone to, not only to keep residents safe but also happy and entertained. I would recommend The Rylands to everyone especially if they are worried in any way about the treatment and care and fun offered. I would like to thank all staff for their continuing care of Mum.

Overall Experience

I have been a regular visitor to The Rylands for over four years and in my time there staff always display compassion and kindness to residents while upholding their dignity and ensuring they feel safe and comfortable. Rylands offer the residence lots of stimulation and encourage participation, from visiting Llamas, potting plants as well as crafts and outdoor games. It is a stressful time for residents and their families when leaving for most, their home of many years but I am always impressed at the care and reassurance given and the genuine interest in the residents needs to make the transition as smooth as possible. I have always found the staff helpful in what is a busy and demanding role and proactive in managing high standards.

Dignity and respect are at the core of all that The Rylands does. My grandmother has complex care needs but The Rylands looks after her like family and all staff, from management downwards have done an excellent and very difficult job during the Covid-19 pandemic. Can't recommend them highly enough.

My 97-year-old mother sadly passed away at The Rylands on New Year's Eve following a six-month stay. During her stay, she was treated with the utmost care, compassion and kindness. She was very happy there and loved all the staff. I cannot speak more highly of everyone who cared for Mum during her final few months and would also like to thank them for the care and compassion they showed to me and my family during Mum's final days at The Rylands. They should be very proud of the professionalism they show and the fantastic job they do. Thank you.

When I came to visit my friend I found the home to be very welcoming and the atmosphere was so lovely and warm on each visit. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. There were several activities happening on the days that I visited before my friend went home. School children singing carols with the residents, making Christmas decorations, playing games. It was truly wonderful to be a part of it.
