My wife had the unfortunate experience of being sent to the place, I found it not a welcoming place to be as follows;
Upon entry there is no reception and the rooms are dingy and the carpets all look dirty and it smelt all the way down the corridors. The layout of the building is not suitable for this
type of care.
No checks at mealtimes or if wife was taken out of the place, as my wife did not get evening meals as got back at 5pm and I had to ask certain staff several times to get her a drink.
The gardens are dismal as not able to walk around and the back area had a skip full of rubbish with black bin bags scattered around it and a pile of doors which obviously had been removed.
The TV lounge was not inviting as a big screen TV dominates the room and it smelt of smoke. The wife said she would not go in as several residents had smoked in there. And this is not long after there had been a fire at the place earlier in the year.
The CQC must walk around with Rose Tinted Glasses.

My sister-in-law received respite care at this home for two weeks and l have to say l was surprised as to how ‘basic’ it was, particularly after reading the information on their website.
I visited on two different occasions and the residents seemed to be either wandering around aimlessly or just sitting
in the lounge watching a huge TV which completely overpowered the room. Where were any activities to stimulate the brain being carried out?
The grounds could be nice if they were well maintained and the garden furniture could definitely do with a lick of paint/varnish. Didn’t make us want to go out there.
I was also shocked to see my sister-in-law being offered sandwiches just wrapped in cling film and a slice of cake from a tray without a serviette underneath it - don’t they have any plates at this home?
I am at a loss how CQC rated it as good in May this year.

The Villa has been my dad's home for 1 year. I have looked after my dad many many years until he had a stroke and went into The Villa. He settled and has been looked after wonderfully. I myself visit daily and I class the staff and people who live there as my extended family. I only hope that when I
need care I go to such a caring loving place. The manager shines in her job.
