The Review Score of 9.8 (maximum of 10) for The Grange Nursing and Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Grange Nursing and Residential Home in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.779 for The Grange Nursing and Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (104 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 131 Ratings = 4.779
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Grange Nursing and Residential Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:
3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4
Target of 5.8 positive Reviews (29 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 11 Reviews ÷ 5.8 Target Reached = 1
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Review submitted from a Postal Card by Gordon R (Brother of Resident) on Monday 9 April 2018. Relates to March 2018.
I see The Grange as a very friendly place with a homely feel about it. I find the staff always welcoming and show devotion in the work they do. I also find in talking to some of the staff they perform their duties above and beyond what is expected of them. I have not commented on the food and drink, it is not applicable to my brother, but it always looks and smells good.

My wife was in the home for 1 and a half years, I found the management and staff considerate and caring for everyone there. Nothing was too much trouble. They were patient with my wife who sometimes was troublesome, with being blind and suffering from dementia and bedridden most of the time she was there.

My wife was in The Grange for 1 1/2 years. I found the staff and management were extremely patient and treated everyone well. The rooms were very clean and all their clothes were washed and ironed. There is plenty of entertainment most days and all the staff participate. It is a good place to come in if you are incapacitated.

From my first meeting with the manager, I have been most impressed by the care and personal attention given to both those needing care and their families.
A welcoming, friendly, happy and secure environment where everyone is treated with respect, consideration and kindness.
We are reluctant to use care homes but it becomes a necessity and places like The Grange should be available to all.

As a family, we feel very lucky to find a good home after all you hear in the media. The staff could not be more helpful. Overall the staff make sure (toilet, shower and food and drink).
She has her hair done every week and perm when she needs it and any other needs.
The home is always clean and it doesn't smell clinical.
The staff are always cheerful and try to involve the residents in all activities.

Residents are always treated with kindness, dignity and respect. Staff often go the "extra mile" sometimes working beyond their paid hours. The Grange is always spotless and the food is of a high quality. Residents are stimulated and there are frequent activities organised. I cannot recommend this care facility highly enough - it exceeds our expectations.

Review submitted from a Postal Card by Julie K (Daughter of Resident) on Wednesday 26 July 2017. Relates to July 2017.
All staff are exemplary at their jobs and extremely professional. Residents are treated with great care and dignity. Staff get to know the residents and their mood swings and how best to support them. Many activities and outings are organised which provides enjoyment for residents and staff. Relatives are contacted on health and welfare issues of their loved ones and kept informed and go through their relative's care plan. I was extremely fortunate in finding The Grange Nursing Home and couldn't wish for a nicer place for mum to stay in her latter years. The staff are all wonderful and would recommend anyone in considering their loved ones to stay here.

Made very welcome on entry. The management is available for hands on, although the staff are of mixed nations they all speak English and get on well with each other. Very good entertainment and activities for the residents (although my wife cannot join in). Also, all visitors are offered a drink. I'm highly pleased with The Grange.
