Reviews

9.5 St Martin's Nursing & Residential Home has a Review Score of 9.5 (9.455)

The Review Score of 9.5 (maximum of 10) for St Martin's Nursing & Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 18 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for St Martin's Nursing & Residential Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.455 for St Martin's Nursing & Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (110 Excellents x 5) + (86 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 209 Ratings = 4.455

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Martin's Nursing & Residential Home is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 8.4 positive Reviews (42 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 10 Reviews ÷ 8.4 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My sister has just left a review on your website and I would just like to reiterate the comments made.
Mum was only in St Martin's for a week when she sadly passed away but I was so grateful for the care and respect she received while she was there. The palliative care was of a really high standard with all involved professionals working together to support my mum during her last week.
The staff took care of not only mum but all her family. In fact, we felt we were treated as members of the St Martin's family. During the week we were given every kind of help from extra blankets when we stayed overnight to tea and biscuits etc - we would have had a much harder time without the hugs, kind words, understanding and advice we received.
I really hope the staff read this review and know how appreciated they are.

My mum was at St Martin's for palliative care at the end of July. Sadly she was only there a week when she passed away.
I would like to say a special thank you from the bottom of my heart for the loving care she received.
She was treated with the utmost compassion, dignity and respect in what was obviously a very distressing time for us, her family.
I always think of the people looking after my mum as my angels thank you each and every one of you.

Staff work together well to provide care for my mother. My mother is very happy and I can tell that she is happy and comfortable with the staff. To see my mum happy and well looked after is what I need to know.

We chose this home for its friendly, welcoming staff when we first visited and have been very happy with the care given and support from staff for yourself.

There have been problems with frequent changes of management but this now appears to be working well and hopefully problems eg deterioration of garden and building will improve.

St Martins care home is run very well. I think the main problem is staff shortage which is pretty obvious and seeing as my wife has been here for 16 months the management has changed three times. I wonder why? The outside grounds seemed to be looking a bit worse for wear.

My mother has been a resident at St Martin's for 7 months. During that time, she has been happy, cared for and settled. The staff at the home treat each person as an individual and get to know each one so that their care is personalised. Efforts are made to help residents feel safe, secure and comfortable. There is a homely atmosphere in the communal lounge and activities and entertain residents and relatives.

Staff are approachable and listen and respond to any concerns.

Mum has remained relaxed, happy and well cared for during the 2 years that she's lived in St Martin's Nursing and Residential Home. She enjoys getting her hair done weekly and her newspapers delivered each day. She describes the staff as kind, caring and willing to listen.

Thank you for keeping mum, who's soon going to be 90 years old, safe, "cosy" (her word) and cared for in St Martin's. She also enjoys her food at St Martin's and appreciated her regular cups of tea.

My many thanks to all concerned.

Mum settled very quickly on her transfer from Intermediate care facilitated by the caring and dedicated staff. She made friends with some of the other residents. The staff encouraged mum to personalise her room to make it feel homely and it did. She enjoyed the organised activities particularly bingo when she won!!! Mum wasn't originally from Liverpool and was introduced to Scouse here which she loved! The staff promoted St Martins to be a fun place to be and were extremely friendly.
It has turned out mum's stay here was only for a very short period. Following a hospital admission mum's transfer from the acute hospital back to the home was managed very successfully by the current manager under difficult circumstances. Mum's end of life care was also managed very sensitively and the staff remained very caring, supportive to us all and ensured mum's dignity throughout. I would like to thank everyone involved in mum's care over the last few months. I will always remember you all.

Mum's condition has noticeably improved with the care and attention she has been receiving from all the staff. She has a comfortable room and enjoys being out in the garden. We feel that the staff really know mum and constantly care for her in a cheerful way. All the staff are very committed.

I chose this care home because of the instant feeling of care on my first visit unannounced to the care home. There have been management problems over the past 18 months - now resolved. The staff during this time maintained that high standard of care and dedication to the residents. Visiting any time - support given when needed. All in all I am more than satisfied with care given to my friend of over 45 years.

Very friendly staff who have helped my mum settle in after 3 months in hospital. I was worried that my mum needed a social aspect where she went and she seems to be getting it here socialising with other residents and there always seems to be some kind of activity going on. The place itself is very clean and my mum has not complained about the food, so I cannot fault it and so, I would recommend to others.
