My mother became a resident in October 2023. She was at her lowest ebb when she arrived and reluctant to go. Within days the change in her was miraculous, she was a lot happier and wanted to live again. Nothing like she'd been previously. I put this down to the homely surroundings and the first-class care she receives. To hear her say things as she loves it here means loads to me and helps reduce the guilt I feel about admitting her. I have no complaints whatsoever and would highly recommend it.

Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident here for over two years and at first, we were really pleased with the level of care she received and had a positive experience of the home. For the last 6 months or so we have noticed a marked deterioration in the home, both in terms of staffing levels and nutrition offered to residents. It is often impossible to get through on the telephone and communication between staff and relatives is not always satisfactory. Processed food rather than fresh ingredients are used and spaghetti hoops and spam are regularly seen on the lunchtime menu for residents, providing little to no nutritional benefit for vulnerable residents.

My mother has been in need of 24-hour professional nursing care for nearly two years, due to her illness and compounded by additional complex issues. The sort of care that we, as her family, were unable to provide, a previous care home could not manage, but which Philips Court staff undertook and continue to provide on a daily basis. Her care package is provided with a smile, a calming conversation, a warm heart, a cup of tea, a biscuit, and the utmost professionalism! From management, and to all other departments, including medical, administration, entertainment, care workers and catering/domestic/facility support, each and every person goes about their role and function ensuring all residents are well cared for, treated with respect and front and centre the main reason for the existence of the facility. May 2023 sees Mother approaching the end of her second year in Philips Court; I doubt she could be in a better place of care! Resident needs can be many and demanding - bravo all staff.

I continue to be astounded by the care and the quality of provision provided to my mam at Philips Court Care Home. It is truly like home from home the way the staff look after her. The deputy manager who is also a nurse offers so much in terms of care and she is so lovely with Mam. She really goes the extra mile. Also, the other nurses are fab. I cannot thank the care staff enough as well. They treat Mam as if she was their own. Mam has been in a couple of care homes prior to Philips Court and they did not provide the level and quality of care we now receive. Nothing is too much for them at Philips Court. Thank you so much staff.

Our mother has been in respite care at Philips Court and we have been so impressed with the wonderful care she has received. The care home manager made sure our mother’s care plan was comprehensive and thorough so that she settled in quickly. What has blown us away has been the outstanding level of care from our mother’s nurse, who has gone above and beyond to care for our mother and because of her we have been able to sleep at night. I can’t praise her highly enough. Thank you.

We have been so very lucky to have my friend in Philips Court, no complaints whatsoever. On my visit yesterday for 2:15, out all morning, realised hadn't done lateral flow test, ran, no problem, come half-hour earlier, they were so busy, but were so lovely. Saw my friend, he looked so clean, hair cut etc. Felt so happy to see him so settled, 94 next month. Thank you all at Philips Court.

We moved my mother into Philips Court over two years ago. From the beginning, I found all the staff friendly and approachable, Management, admin, nursing staff, care staff and Domestic Staff. They treat everyone including families with care.

Philips Court has really done well throughout the Covid, crisis keeping residents safe. I would recommend Philips Court to anyone who asks for my opinion.

My mother receives excellent care from all the staff and I have found the organisation of the home is impeccable, this includes management, admin, nursing staff and care staff - along with the activities coordinators. I could not have wished for a better place for mum to live. During the pandemic, all staff have kept everyone safe and well, and despite the hard work, the staff have always been positive and understanding.

My mother in law has lived at Philips Court for approximately 2 years. In that time, my wife and I have seen a massive improvement in mum's well-being, I can't thank the staff enough for giving mum the care and support she needs to be happy with dementia. The staff are caring and supportive to both mum, my wife and I. Absolutely excellent care.

My mother-in-law moved into dementia care at Philips Court only a few months prior to the outbreak of Covid-19. Since then, the care that she has received from staff on the unit and in the establishment as a whole has been absolutely first class. Especially during periods of lockdown we have been kept fully informed of developments and staff are only too happy to give updates on her care when we call. In addition, the manager is very approachable, understanding and accommodating of my mother-in-law’s particular needs and wants. Staff always appear happy in their work even when it is challenging, which I feel gives a very good indication of how Philips Court is managed. The family and I are enormously grateful to them all and I would highly recommend the home to anyone seeking quality care for a loved one.

My friend has lived at Philips Court for 4 years. I am extremely happy with her care. I chose Philips Court because of the garden, rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens, as she loved her own garden and animals. There is plenty of room for her to walk about and she has a nicely lit room. My friend has settled amazingly well and always looks content, happy, clean and tidy when I visit. She loves music, there is often some sort of musical activity going on which she can dance to. The staff are very kind and knowledgeable about her complex needs. She enjoys her food and her sometimes picky eating is well managed. She can be difficult at times but staff know how to get around her in the nicest possible way, her sparkly eyes, winning smile and polite nature enable her to get around the staff too. Philips Court always contacts me if there is something I need to know and they are happy to hear from me when I ring. My friend's family and I cannot thank them enough.

My mother-in-law has resided her for some 11 years during all time her complex physical and mental needs have been met with dignity. Any issues are managed well and dealt with quickly and professionally. My mother-in-law is always clean and well presented. Staff at any level are knowledgeable about her current condition and can provide regular and accurate updates. Care plans are regularly reviewed and myself and my husband are asked for input.

Overall Experience

Philip's Court is a tremendous place - my mother has lived here 2 months and she loves it there (and so do I). The staff and manager are priceless, they take time out of their busy duties to make the residents feel special - often it's just a few words in passing but it shows a deep respect and care for the people.

The home is a hub of activity and it is quite large so there are plenty of places for those who are able to walk and mingle. There is a wonderful outdoor courtyard which the residents and visitors can go out to - and out in the courtyard are penned rabbits, guinea pigs and other creatures. It's all very bucolic especially considering it is located in a fairly busy area.

There is always tea and coffee on the go, my mother likes the food very much and the staff organizes a lot of other activities which they and the residents really seem to enjoy.

I would definitely suggest checking out Philip's Court if your loved one is in need of a care home.
