Our father was a resident for 7 weeks until 26.7.16. Prior to his entry, a detailed care plan was prepared and we were assured his needs would be addressed.
He needed a plate guard, spoon and food cut up at meal times, also a mug with a suitable handle which we provided. When our visits coincided with meal times we were dismayed to find no plate guard, no food cut up and a knife and fork (which was of no use). We always had to ask staff to rectify this. Also instead of the mugs (which had his name on), he would be given a cup he could not hold.
There were other issues with his personal care including on one occasion his hearing aid not put in.
He did not have Dementia but needed communication to be very specific and time to respond to questions. After 6 weeks and numerous complaints to staff, it was still not being done. We felt his care plan was not being implemented and staff seemed unaware of his basic needs. We felt these issues would never be resolved and decided he would not stay.
