  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 0 out of 5 from 0 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.313 for Rowandale Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (21 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.313

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 0 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rowandale Nursing Home is based on 0 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 0 = 0

    2. Target of 5.6 positive Reviews (28 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 0 Reviews ÷ 5.6 Target = 0

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My dad went into Rowendale in February for two weeks respite, he has vascular dementia and a number of health problems. It was the first time he had ever went into a care home, the staff made him comfortable and he was well looked after which was a relief to my family as we were guilty and unsure about leaving him there. Unfortunately my dad took two infections (infections were regular urine infections , and chest infection which he was prone to and nothing to do with care home) and also suffered a mini stroke , we decided to leave him there and not transfer him to hospital on advice from doctors and staff, the care and attention he received was amazing and if it wasn't for that care my dad wouldn't be here today. They went above and beyond helping my dad and my family, he would never have received the same amount of care and attention in hospital, the care home has a lovely home feeling, well secured, clean and respectful staff . I Highly recommended this home .

My mother has been with the nursing home since November 2015 and I am very happy with the quality of the service and care from the manager and the carers on her floor. My mother suffers from vascular dementia and she suffered a stroke in September 2015 which meant that she was not able to be cared for at her own home as she needs full-time personal care. I am kept informed of all aspects of her care and how she is medically and she is safe and comfortable in the home which is a great relief to the family.

I choose this nursing home due to the fact of it's warmth, it was small so my mother could cope with the change better, and it felt like a 'home' and not an 'institution'. It would be how I would like to be treated when I get old. Every resident is treated with respect and dignity and family are encouraged to be as much a part of their care as possible.

Dear Susan,

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. We aim to deliver the best possible care to our clients.

Kind Regards

John Park,

The Rowandale Nursing Home is an excellent home. My dad is a resident and is looked after with respect and dignity. The support from management and staff is excellent. My mum couldn't ask for anymore and she knows she doesn't need to worry as she did before as he was in another home. My mum has the support from management as well. She is content.
