Claremont provides an ideal environment for older people who are looking for dementia and nursing care. All care plans are individualised for each residents’ needs, with the team experienced in many differing nursing challenges, including respite, convalescence and palliative care. The care team are also experienced in care provision for people with Parkinson’s disease.

The home has well-furnished lounge and dining areas, ideal for a range of social occasions and a relaxing daily lifestyle. All bedrooms feature ensuite facilities and a 24 hour call system, and some offer views of the gardens. Residents have access to landscaped gardens that include a greenhouse, water features and bird tables, as well as raised flower beds and a herb garden.

Alongside a diverse menu of food, clients can enjoy mid-morning tea and coffee and homemade cake. Special occasions and birthdays are celebrated by the chef. There is also a kitchen where residents can prepare their own refreshments and snacks.

An active lifestyle is supported at Claremont, with weekly clubs, arts and crafts, music and movement plus a dementia coach is available to help residents make the most of what is on offer. Regular trips and outings are also available.

My cousin has been in respite this month with a view to making it permanent. Initial impressions were excellent especially of the staff who were all very welcoming, caring, patient and supportive. The home is bright, extremely spacious and offers good facilities and activities.

Found the staff to be very helpful at all times and they make you very welcome on arrival, they are very approachable when having any questions or concerns. they are very caring with my husband and overall I am very happy. My husband is very well cared for.

On my second visit, when I was unfamiliar with the layout of the home, my aunt desperately needed the toilet. There were no staff around and I struggled to find the toilet for her.
She could not remember where the toilet was (she has dementia) and it would have been very helpful to have signs on the walls indicating the way to the toilet.

Quite happy with service and feel I can openly comment whenever we have an issue - however small. A more personalised menu (per resident) and options available.

It broke my heart to have to put my mum into a care home.
So glad I chose Claremont Care Home as all staff are excellent with my mum.
She is looked after very well.
If I have any issues I take them to the unit manager and they are always addressed.
I know my mum is safe and taken care of 24 hours a day.
Staff appear to be well trained for my mum's condition (dementia).
My mum has a problem with eating but the staff are willing to try anything to get mum to eat.
All staff deserve praise, from kitchen staff to maintenance, they are all fabulous.

Due to my Grandfather only being a new resident I can't comment on a lot of details as unknown or unsure.
Grandfather seems happy and settled anyway.

The experience so far has been satisfactory and my mum has settled in quite well. However, a wider choice of food would be appreciated.
My mum really enjoys all forms of activities and it would be really helpful if this could be more prevalent and suited to purpose.

Staff listen to residents and their family and work hard to provide the care needed.
There are lots of activities for residents to take part in, staff always take the time to answer questions and keep relatives informed.

My mum has been in the care of the staff at Claremont for a year now and she has settled in very well. The staff have all been very good with mum, myself and my brothers. We are welcome anytime. Activities are difficult for mum as her mobility is bad, but she does enjoy a singalong.

My mother and father were both in this care home. Spent days together, they both had separate bedrooms with own bathrooms which was good. Mum passed away in April, the staff have been very supportive to family and helpful with dad at this sad time. All staff are approachable, home is a very friendly environment, staff keeping the family involved and updated.

Staff appear open and mum seems happy with service.
Provide more details of what mum has done or been offered on a day to day basis- a log book at the door to her room might be an idea. This could record staff involvement, any activities undertaken or offered, meal time, food taken.

My relative has been there for a few weeks which I have visited on several occasions. Myself, partner and a close friend chose this care home and have not been disappointed. The staff, overall facilities are excellent. I actually live in Essex but am in Ayr on regular visits. In between, the lady in charge phones me regularly to inform me of his well being which I very much appreciate.

The home always seem to be well run and welcoming, they've had a few problems with bugs, resulting in the home being closed to visitors, but this is the correct action to take. My mother always seems very happy with everything and enjoys all the meals and activities. Long may it last.

Carol is a Registered Nurse with over 25 years’ experience in providing care and support for elderly people to enrich their lives. She is a conscientious and trustworthy leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards in care and quality of life for Residents.

Carol joined Claremont as Home Manager because she closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

She also understands how important the community is and is always keen to include the local community in life at Claremont.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Carol remarked:

“I love speaking to the lovely Residents and working with my colleagues.”

Outside of work, Carol enjoys going to the gym and visiting the theatre to watch the latest shows.
