Overview

The Review Score of 8 (maximum of 10) for Roseland Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 5 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Roseland Lodge in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.4 for Roseland Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.4

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Roseland Lodge is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 = 3

    2. Target of 1.6 positive Reviews (8 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 1 Reviews ÷ 1.6 Target = 0.625

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Roseland Lodge is excellent. My mother is cared for perfectly, the food is fabulous, her room is very clean and I couldn't wish for her to be in a better place. The management is always on the ball and very polite and I know my mother is safe and well cared for.

I cannot emphasise enough how wonderful this care home is. Whenever I visit there is always a lovely atmosphere. The manager and staff are so upbeat and caring with the residents. There is plenty of laughter too, such a joy to hear. The rooms are beautiful and the food is amazing. All the residents looked well groomed and nourished. My mother eats all her food something that didn't happen when she lived at home on her own.
My sister and I are so happy to have this home for our mum Excellent, Excellent, Excellent well done Roseland Lodge.

At first, we thought this was a great home for mum. After a few months she started to withdraw from social interaction? Also refusing to eat and get up. Was asked to find an alternative home as she was not eating! Became severely undernourished and dehydrated. Moved to a new home, not stopped eating since arriving, and getting all the support and care now that she needs.

Carers were really good. Cleanliness was excellent.

No choice given on meals, alternative given such as toast. So when food was disliked or not eaten toast was offered. Not good for someone who needs high-calorie high protein diet.

sharon stringer, manager at Roseland Lodge responded to this review on 26 Aug 2016:

I am sorry that this family member is now reviewing our care home as a bad service, when we accepted this lady from a previous home, also given a bad review by her daughter. All good care and was given to her Mum as she entered our home undernourished and dehydrated. We managed to pull her back and weight was put on and her mood improved. As her condition changed after being in hospital we had her back on a trial period to see if we could make any difference to her. Family informed, and we suggested that they look for another home as we could not get through to this lady, but hoped someone else could. This lady was in our care for nine months, and family were more than happy with her care.

My mum has been a resident in Roseland Lodge since last November. The food is excellent and the dining area is lovely. The home is spotless and residents are well cared for. I am happy in the knowledge that mum is being well looked after and is being kept clean, well presented and very well fed.
