Baycroft is the first development from this expanding care provider which opened its doors in August 2017.

The home has been built to a very high specification and will offer exceptional accommodation throughout. There will be a choice of room sizes and specification, with some rooms being able to accommodate couples. All rooms have en-suite wet rooms. Built-in assistive technology will enable staff to take care of residents in a discreet way, and electronic care planning will enable the home to provide an outstanding level of care. Residents will be encouraged to personalise their rooms to make them feel more at home.

The home has a separate restaurant on the ground floor and first floors which will serve a variety of delicious and nutritious meals. There are two more intimate dining rooms on the top floor for small groups of residents that are living with dementia. There are several large and small lounges as well as quiet seating areas throughout the home. A café/fully licensed bar is located on the ground floor and will be open throughout the day where residents can meet and entertain their family and friends; the cafe will feature three jelly fish tanks which should be a major talking point. A hair and nail salon, treatment room and a physio suite will be available for residents to use as well as a library, cinema and children’s playroom on the first floor to keep the grandchildren entertained.

A dedicated team will plan a range of interesting and engaging activities throughout the day and the home will also have a minibus and smaller car for external trips.

Residents will range from those who are relatively independent to those who require care or support, nursing, dementia or end-of-life care.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.652 for Baycroft Grays Farm Road is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4.652

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Baycroft Grays Farm Road is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 15 positive Reviews (75 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 6 Reviews ÷ 15 Target = 0.400

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

On my mother's transition from her home to Baycroft Care Home in Orpington we were all well supported by the care team. They showed kindness, compassion and were caring in all aspects, including emotional warmth to my mother. This was very reassuring to my wife and I and of course my mother. She has taken many weeks to settle but now she seems settled and we are pleased and reassured to know she is being well cared for and we can visit as often as necessary.

My neighbour and good friends mother is now in Baycroft Grays Farm Road. We have known and loved her for many years and it was a pleasure to visit her in Baycroft for Christmas carols and snacks. So pleased she is in such a fantastic place. Not only 5 star accommodation but everything else as well. She even recognised the local mayor who paid a visit. I firmly believe being in such a great home will extend her life as she is so well looked after.

The staff are kind, friendly and caring. The menu is good but more traditional English flair needed given the age of residents. The home is like a first-class hotel and all are treated with dignity. I feel my mum is safe and contented when I leave her. Facilities are excellent, clean and tidy and the home furnishings and rooms are all exceptional all with Sky TV on the walls. Activities need working on which will happen as staff join the company, hopefully.

We have been extremely impressed by the care and dedication of all the staff. They go out of their way to ensure that my mother is treated with dignity, and they are so friendly and supportive to all of the family members. It does not feel like a care home more like an extended family home.

Job Title: General Manager

Description:

Tina Thomas knew from the time that she was training to be a nurse that she wanted to help improve services for older people. Her career has been peppered with experience in nursing and dementia care, domiciliary care, service inspection, consultancy and home management. Her aim throughout has been, and remains, to provide a dignified, safe, trusting, caring and above all happy environment for residents, staff and residents families. One that she would be happy for her own family members to live in.

Tina understands the impact that the ageing process can sometimes bring to people and their families. Tina understands the relief that choosing the right care home can bring. She says ‘one of the best parts of my job is when you see residents making new friendships at a time in their lives when they didn’t think it was possible. Often residents will talk to me about the relief they feel at not having to worry about undertaking strenuous day to day tasks anymore, and the comfort of knowing that if they are taken ill that there are staff around 24/7 to be there for them.’

As General Manager, Tina will have day-to-day responsibility for the home. She says ‘I’m very proud to be the first General Manager in post for Baycroft. To be part of a developing, vibrant, innovative, and stylish company from such an early stage is a joy. There has been so much thought put into the design and technology. I didn’t ever think that in my early career when I worked in a disused workhouse converted to a geriatric hospital that I would work in a beautiful building where dignity ensures that everyone has their own bathrooms, meals are like those in a hotel, sky t.v in every room, assistive technology working in conjunction with care planning, a physio suite, a spa and a cinema.

People quite rightly expect so much more these days. One of my favourite conversations with a resident was when she told me she had asked a nurse to look at her tablet. Confused because she was not on any medication the nurse went to her room only to find the resident needed support with her handheld electronic device. How times have changed, and this is why I love my job.

Lesley worked in her previous home for 3.5 years, Lesley say’s “I got the job because I had to ask if my dog could come to the interview with me, it was a hot day and I couldn’t leave her in the car, the interviewers were so taken with how cute and well behaved she was it wasn’t like an interview at all and I was offered the job, Rosie became a regular visitor to the home which all the residents really enjoyed”

“I am very proud and excited to be part of this highly experienced and innovative team that is committed to building and developing high-quality care homes throughout the S.E. of England.
