Overview

The Review Score of 9.9 (maximum of 10) for Baycroft Great Baddow is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Baycroft Great Baddow in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.85 for Baycroft Great Baddow is calculated as follows: ( (196 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 227 Ratings = 4.85

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Baycroft Great Baddow is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 12.8 positive Reviews (64 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 19 Reviews ÷ 12.8 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.9 Baycroft Great Baddow has a Review Score of 9.9 (9.850) from 19 Reviews

From the moment of first enquiry until today, the whole team has been resident-focused and welcoming. We were told that staff, whatever their role, were selected on the basis of their ability to relate to residents, and my mother and we (her two children) have so much evidence of this already. My mother reports that all her wishes are dealt with quickly, and many are anticipated. Of course, the physical environment and the professional standards are also exemplary.

My mother has been in Baycroft Great Baddow for one week now.
From the moment she came through the door, the staff were genuinely friendly and put themselves out to ensure that she had everything she needed. She is never bored, lonely, hungry or thirsty. In the past week, we have noticed a great improvement in her physical and mental well-being. We are looking forward to many more months and years of new friendships, new interests and exciting activities.

Having been given a tour of Baycroft I am very impressed. The decor is beautiful. Very tastefully done. I do wonder if the furniture is right bearing in mind the age and infirmities of the residents. I found the staff very kind and helpful.

I found my mother extremely well cared for. Her general demeanour has improved since she became a resident which can, probably, be attributed to the attentive staff and the level of activities provided. The facilities are excellent and comfortable and the standard would be difficult to improve upon.

Thank you.

At a very difficult time in all our lives, we were fortunate to find Baycroft Great Baddow Care Home. The home is brand new and finished to a very high standard. My mother has settled in very well due to the kindness of all the staff. Losing her husband six days after moving in was distressing but the staff have been brilliant in listening and talking to her when she has felt the need. She is encouraged to spend time in the lounge with other residents, or to make use of the other facilities, eg, cinema, activity room etc. We are confident that Baycroft Great Baddow can care for my mother and look forward to her being with them for many years to come.

Thank you for taking the time in completing our review card. I'm so pleased you are happy with the way she has settled into her new home, with lots of friends around her and all of the staff that care for her.

Have been very pleased with the care and support my father has had since moving to Baycroft. All staff are friendly and kind always checking to see if everyone is ok. Visitors are able to have meals with the residents at a very cheap rate which is lovely. They have celebrated Burns night and also Chinese New Year. There are lots of activities, unfortunately, my father is unable to join in presently. I know it’s a new home and certain things take a while to arrange but one of the most important things for my father is to be able to watch sky sport which still hasn’t been connected. The furnishing is first class and it certainly doesn’t look anything like a care home more like a 5* hotel.

This care home is brand new and has been finished to an extremely high standard. Everything is tastefully designed and colour schemes are beautiful. The staff are very friendly, welcoming very happy and can't do enough for you. My husband needs a hoist to be moved. The carers are all keen to help, answer quickly when he rings and are always suggesting ways to help his well being. The bedroom has a wet room a single bed with a special mattress, TV, door opening out to a veranda. Visitors are welcome at any time and may dine at a modest cost. There are beautiful lounges, dining rooms, library, cinema, gym. hairdresser. crafts and indoor play area for young visitors. This is like a five-star hotel and I would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone.

I joined Baycroft Great Baddow in December 2017, having spent 10 years working in a Secondary School within the Special Educational Needs Department. Having had a Secretarial/Personal Assistant background, I am used to organising people, diaries and events. When I found out about this position I knew immediately that it would be just up my street. I enjoy talking to people, getting to know them, playing games and generally coming to work to have fun! It’s more than that though. Having seen so many of my family members in homes up and down the country and in their own homes too, just becoming so bored, sitting in an armchair with very little to do, it breaks my heart. So here at Baycroft, I want to make it fun, enjoyable and ensure that I listen to the residents and find out their likes and dislikes. I can then factor this into the Activities that we do so that everyone will find something that they would like to get involved in. Starting a new hobby perhaps, revisiting an old one or going out and about and meeting new people.

What is evident from starting at a brand new care home, is the team I will be working with. Everyone is so passionate about their role. Care is paramount here and we are all excited about the future and our residents new home. If you are passing, please come in and look for yourself. Say hello and stop for coffee. We are proud of Baycroft Great Baddow and want our residents to be too.

Adam Broadway – Head Chef, Baycroft, Great Baddow.

My love of food began at a young age, my Mother is a caterer and watching her in the kitchen inspired me.

My career began working as a Commis Chef at a Bar/Restaurant in Leigh on Sea, working my way up to Chef de Partie. It was here, the Head Chef, previously of Harvey Nichols, taught me my creative passion.

I then moved to a Golf and Country Club catering for Weddings whilst serving the bars and restaurant. Here I was lucky to work with a Head Chef formerly awarded a Red M in the Michelin Guide. He educated me to be inspired and excited by the prospect of food and its multitude of possibilities.

Moving into care homes I became the youngest Catering Manager working for Compass Group. After 15 years in this field, I felt inspired by the vision of Baycroft, raising the standards in care.
Baycroft allow me to be creative, I am excited to deliver restaurant standard food, using locally sourced produce, meeting with our residents to ensure their needs are always met.

I am now supposedly semi-retired since 2013 and for the last few years I have been trying to find something where I can combine both my catering training and my love of social interaction with people.

Whilst I'm employed in the Kitchen I get to spend a lot of time with our residents and their families and during this interaction my light-hearted and humorous side comes to fore. I try to balance serious conversation and stimulation with humour and for me there is no greater satisfaction than talking to people and not only hearing and listening to what they have to say but to also hear them laugh and see them smile.

Physical care is obviously very important but so is mental care and stimulation and that is what I try to achieve with the other staff at Baycroft.

I have never worked in a care setting before having previously worked in retail, library services and a school office but I am thoroughly enjoying my new role.

Baycroft is a beautiful home for our residents and is in a lovely location. Although I am not involved directly with the care of our residents I enjoy spending time with them in one of the lounge areas chatting and getting to know them - they are like my extended family along with my work colleagues and the management team who are all very lovely.

I have worked in the care sector for 26yrs. I started work at 16yrs old and have never looked back.

I have previous experience working in mental health at the Linden Centre, this was hugely rewarding and gave me a good insight to mental health which I have carried throughout my other care jobs. I have cared for palliative patients at the end of their life which was an incredibly humbling experience.

I have worked in several nursing homes over the years but Baycroft is definitely one of the best. I started working at Baycroft in Feb 2018 and love being part of a good team.
