Fantastic home. Residents are well cared for and treated with love, respect and dignity. This home is so warm and welcoming. Mum had dementia and spent her final year here at Nelson Lodge and was extremely happy. Mum loved the range of activities organised for residents especially the singing and dancing and the laugh she could have with the carers. I would highly recommend this home to anyone.

My mum passed away sadly on 22 November at Nelson Lodge. The care and love my mum was given in her last few days was above and beyond I cannot thank everyone at Nelson Lodge enough. The care my mum was given in the two years she was there was amazing. They made her last two years the happiest and as a family knowing she was happy and safe meant the world to her family.

The home has a lovely atmosphere - I think the main reason for this is the lovely regular staff. It's clear that they really care for the residents, and it makes such a difference to them. I would like to say thank you to them. Fay is especially good with my mum, as well as Nathan, who is brilliant with her & other residents, as well as the other staff (I'm sorry but I don't know their names).

The care my mother received from the staff at Nelson Lodge St Neots was outstanding. They were professional, and compassionate throughout her 2 years at the home. My mother had vascular dementia which became problematic toward the end but the staff showed real empathy and understanding, I cannot thank them enough

My nan was only there 7 weeks but has sadly past away last week.
I couldn't fault the staff that she had looking after her whilst she was there.
Your team leaders on days and nights explained everything that would be happening and answered any questions big or small.
The care staff treated her with the utmost respect.
They went above and beyond for her.

From the time you walk through the door, your greeted with smiles and friendly faces.

Our Mum had to move into Nelson Lodge following the sudden death of our Dad about 6 months ago. She has dementia and needs 24 hour care now. I am so pleased with the care she is getting and the communication to me and my brothers. This care home is so warm and welcoming and mum has been involved in so many activities. She has settled really well and the staff really know Mum and recent care, concerning seizures, has been exemplary.

My experience of Nelson Lodge is excellent. Very good caring staff, always friendly and cheerful. Very good facilities, especially the bathroom. Always clean.

The food is generally good, with a good choice. Also, snacks and drinks throughout the day. I would like to see my mother join in more when activities are available.

My mother's service went ahead yesterday, and as you might well imagine, it was quite an emotional occasion.
What really helped were the number of Nelsons Lodge care staff who attended.
It was clear to us all that, just by their attendance, my mum, our Nan and great nan, was indeed very much loved, and that realisation brought much needed warmth in our hearts, on what was such a cold day.
Some years ago, when we selected Nelson's Lodge for my mother's care, we really had no concept of the quality of care she would receive.
We have often reflected on this, and whilst I doubt we would see kindness as a criteria on a CV, it is clear to us that you and your staff went the extra mile in making the final years of my mother's life as good as it could ever be.

For this, we are most grateful.

My aunt spent the final year and a half of her life at Nelson Lodge. With the onset of dementia, her last few years, through no fault of her own, were not an easy time for her. When it became clear that she could no longer continue to live in her own home finding a suitable alternative became an urgent necessity. Her family were very pleased to find in Nelson Lodge a safe haven for her where she was well cared for and looked after. On my very last visit to see her, I was impressed and, indeed, moved to find the manager of the home herself doing her best, in the most caring way, to persuade my aunt to get out of bed and have a shower. Whilst she was not, regrettably, successful, this confirmed in my mind that any organisation is only as good as its leadership and that Nelson Lodge is exceptionally well-led. I am happy to recommend Nelson Lodge.

I felt my mother's individual needs were taken into consideration and she was allowed as much autonomy as was practically possible.
The staff were relaxed and friendly and there to facilitate whatever my mother wanted to do or help her to be where she wanted to be.

Although Nelson Lodge is a large facility, it is zoned so that each area feels small enough to feel like home and the same familiar faces were seen each day. Her room had a door onto an outside space which is essential for someone who loves to be outside whenever possible.

My dad moved into Nelson Lodge in late May and I have never met a more caring group of people. My Mum says everyone smiles all the time, staff and residents which is true.
The staff learn your name so quickly and this makes a big difference, a bit like a large family.

The attention to detail regarding meds, medical care, doctors and district nurses is superb. This is particularly useful to me as I care for my Mum and feel totally confident I can trust this great team to look after my Dad.

This is not my first experience with Nelson Lodge, I used to care for my elderly neighbour who I placed here. The whole team were caring, professional and very friendly. There was nothing too much for any of the staff!
Now my mother-in-law is here and nothing has changed, the staff are still excellent.
They make the resident's stay here a safe, enjoyable and friendly experience.

I would highly recommend Nelson Lodge to anyone wanting care for their relative.

We can't thank Nelson Lodge enough for the care and attention the team have given Dad. The building itself and rooms and decor are in desperate need of refurbishment but that is quickly forgotten due to the amazing team they have. Dad isn't an easy person to please and he has high praise for the team. Decor is secondary when it comes to care standards. The team are very natural with the residents, befriending them, which we feel goes a long way to reassuring residents who have anxiety needs that arise from Dementia and Alzheimer's. Thank you everyone.

I have worked in both the charity and care sectors for over 30 years. My experience includes 15 years with MENCAP as a Registered Home Manager. I then joined Leonard Cheshire as a Quality Manager.

I love the care sector, and I am very passionate about care and its delivery. I have lived in St Neots for over 20 years, and I see strengthening the relationships Nelson Lodge has with their local community as a vital part of my new role. I’m keen to support our residents’ connections with our local community.
