Overview

The Review Score of 9.5 (maximum of 10) for Timken Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Timken Grange in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.964 for Timken Grange is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.964

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.53 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Timken Grange is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 13.2 positive Reviews (66 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 7 Reviews ÷ 13.2 Target = 0.530

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.5 Timken Grange has a Review Score of 9.5 (9.494) from 7 Reviews

After a year of being in and out of hospital and rehab, it seemed the only way we could move on with mum getting increasingly frail was with a care home. Previous experiences of care facilities was 20 years ago in old converted houses with dark narrow corridors and small rooms. Nothing like that at Timken Grange. Lovely open living/dining areas, good size bedrooms, wide, well-lit corridors, plenty of communal spaces, library, tea room, cinema room etc. Plenty of very professional and caring staff who are never too busy to make you a cup of tea or fetch you a piece of cake. Lots of optional activities. Within days of moving in mum had really got her sparkle back and certainly seems to be enjoying life again. Felt like home from the minute we walked in. Nice to be able to turn to join mum for lunch on the spur of the moment, just as we would when she was at home. Can't fault it. If I could give 11/10 I would.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our home. We are delighted that you and your mother are so happy and she has her 'sparkle' back. We too would love the 11 out of 10 review, but sadly it will not allow it. Your feedback is shared with all our staff which helps enormously. Thank you.

I was so pleased to find such a lovely home for my husband. All the staff are so caring and understanding, with lots of patience and nothing is too much trouble. The facilities, rooms and decor are excellent. The residents are treated with absolute dignity in a very professional way. The catering is amazing, everything freshly made on site and always a welcome cup of tea when visiting. Well done everyone!

Thank you for making the effort and time to provide a review of our home. Needless to say, we are delighted that you are happy with how we care for your husband and our home itself and appreciate you sharing your views. Please feel free to extend the lunch and dinner invites to the remainder of your family and friends who can join you on your visits.....even if it's just for a cup of tea!

Our family were very apprehensive about moving dad into a care home as we know he was very anti care homes. Dad is 92 and needs 24x7 care. Against our expectations, he settled into Timken Grange really quickly. He joins in some of the activities, is more mobile, looks better and seems to accept he is in the best place now. The staff look after him really well, putting up with his occasional grumpiness. He is much happier than he was living on his own. Well done all at Timken Grange.

Such a great place, like staying in a five-star hotel. I have been looked after and cared for extremely well. By staff who are completely dedicated to their job. It has been a pleasure to stay here and can't wait to return. Once again a very big thank you to all the team.

Sian Ellis, Marketing Director at Timken Grange responded to this review on 04 Apr 2018:

Thank you for taking the time to write your review of Timken Grange. We work hard to make sure we provide the highest possible standards of care. As you have had first-hand experience of living with us, we are delighted that our staff have looked after you so well and you will be returning to be with us again soon.

"It's like a hotel" was my mother's instant reaction when she visited Timken Grange on its first open day, convinced beforehand she would not like it. She loved it. The friendly and helpful staff showed us around. Several lounges and dining rooms on each floor, cinema, hairdressing salon, library, tea room and even a bar, all beautifully decorated and furnished. A far cry from most people's idea of a care home. After my mother's quick decision, Timken Grange did everything possible to make the process as simple as possible, personalising her room upon her arrival. The welcome was so friendly and the staff have continued to make my mother feel at home in a friendly, warm and safe atmosphere. BRAVO.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It's good to know that we are getting the important things right and we appreciate you sharing with us your views on how we handled your mother's move and how she has been since she has been with us. Thank you, we appreciate it.

Within three days of Dad coming to Timken Grange, we could see an incredible difference in his wellbeing. He was relaxed, contented and had started to interact again with people around him and his surroundings. His appetite returned. All of this we put down to the amazing care and support of the staff helping him to engage and take part. Thank you.
