Alexander House Care Home

Mum has been at Alexander House for just over a year. The bedrooms are spacious with an en-suit bathroom. The staff from the managers to the care staff are friendly and welcoming and are always happy to help. The home is open , airy and very clean. The food which I have had the pleasure of trying , has always been good quality. This is a home I would highly recommend for anyone looking especially for loved ones with dementia.

Mum has been at Alexander house for palliative care for a short while and the staff have been amazing. They've helped mum settle. Plus been helpful and understanding with the whole family. The whole experience has been easy to navigate with staff that have been informative and knowledgeable. The facilities have a hotel feel and a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

I have nothing but praise for Alexander House. The accommodation and facilities are great, but the staff are second to none. The management and administrative staff have always been attentive my situation as well as being polite and kind to my husband. The nursing and healthcare staff are excellent, friendly, polite and respectful. Nothing is too much trouble. Nobody wishes to spend their retirement in care, but if you have to, I wouldn't choose anywhere else.

My mother was placed into this home with the final stages of dementia, advanced kidney failure and a hip that, despite repeat surgery, kept dislocating. Never a great feeling, my father couldn't care for her any longer. Sadly, her stay was not a long one, before complications with surgery and other poor health conditions claimed her, but she was looked after well until the end.

Care was excellent, with compassion and attention. Superb food, although my mother did not have much of an appetite; full breakfasts were available, along with 3-course lunches, afternoon tea, and supper. Obviously, good leadership and oversight.

My mother has been a resident for the past 2 1/2 years. During that time she has been well cared for and although an independent individual she participates in the homes activities. The staff are friendly and caring towards all. I was very impressed with all aspects of the home when we were initially looking to place my mum; I remain so today.

Mum has been at Alexander House for a few years now. It is very much her home. She feels safe and well looked after. She loves all of the many activities through out the week. The delicious food and the wonderful staff. Everyone is so kind, helpful and supportive. Not just to mum but to all of our family as well when we visit.

I recently stayed at Alexander House for two weeks respite following surgery, and I was delighted with the care I received. All the staff were friendly, kind, caring and hard working, and they ensured that my stay was an exceptionally positive experience. The room was very comfortable, with everything being easily accessible and, just like Fiona had assured me, it proved to be perfect for someone immediately post op who needed to rest and heal. Everywhere was kept spotlessly clean, and the food was really good with a varied menu and generous portions. Should I require further surgery in the future I wouldn't hesitate to return to Alexander House for respite care because it was superb. A huge and very sincere THANK YOU to everyone for your kindness, compassion and care at what was a very difficult time.

My mum came into Alexander House for 2 weeks respite. From the moment she arrived she was made to feel at home and part of the family. The staff are kind, caring and attentive to each individuals needs. Mum enjoyed daily activities especially flower arranging and music sessions. All being well she will definitely be back again! Thank you everyone at Alexander House for the care and love you gave mum.

I cannot recommend this home and the staff highly enough. The home is beautiful from the residents rooms to the dining room, it has been designed really tastefully and to a high standard. The staff are all AMAZING!! Every single person I met was polite, friendly and really caring. I wouldn't hesitate in using this home again for my Mum.

My Sister was a resident with Alexander house for approx 8 months. The whole time she was there she was treated dignity, care and had so much support. I have so much respect for ALL of the staff from the cleaners to reception staff but most of all the care and nursing staff. My Sister has disabilities but the staff iwere aware of this and they took there time to explain things to her. They kept myself updated with all treatments etc she was receiving and nothing was ever to much trouble. Now thanks to all the staff in Alexander house my sister is well and been able to leave and go home. I can't thank them enough.

The home is very welcoming and beautifully decorated it is a real home from home with lots of activities for the residents.

The nursing care is excellent and all his needs are being met. My husband is very happy and enjoys all the activities at the care home.

Let's face it, wherever you place a loved one, you're going to worry - about the care they receive, and whether you should have chosen some other place. I had those worries too. Handing over the care of my wife to complete strangers was far and away the most difficult decision I've ever had to make. And sure, for a short while right at the start I worried about whether I'd made the right choice. But those concerns very quickly evaporated once my wife settled in and I could see how she was cared for. She's been there now for almost five months and I can tell you that the nursing and care staff are, without exception, very special people - kind, caring, attentive, observant, incredibly hard working. The environment is spotless thanks to the wonderful team of housekeepers. The food is varied and plentiful. I don't have the slightest hesitation in recommending the care your loved one will receive and I say that as someone who visits very often.

I would highly recommend Alexander house to anyone looking for respite or long term care.

My husband has been at Alexander House for 3 months now, and I remain very impressed with the level of service, compassion and care provided. I really appreciate the way I have been welcomed to visit my husband as often as I like, and I feel included in his care, resting in confidence that the high level of support will be continued in my absence. It's not to say there is perfection. By the nature of the disabilities of the patients, there are stressful times, and messes occur, but the staff are always so willing to put things right with cheerfulness. The activities are a bonus too, is helping failing minds to get some interest and enjoyment out of life. Altogether, I feel Alexander House has got a good model going in practice, and I hope they can spread some of their innovative ideas to other homes. One gets the sense of a very good and forward looking management.

My mum spent the last 4 months of her life at this remarkable home. Her stay was enhanced by the utter kindness, professionalism & love given by the staff there. I feel that we could not have found a better place for her and she went from a situation at home that the TV was her only friend to a place where she made so many friends and was loved by everyone. No one can know what the future holds but if I had known how much better her life would have got I definitely would have got her in there sooner.

I was surprised how nice Alexander house was when I first visited. I think the gold standard is when I visit my aunt and she tells me every time how happy she is and how well she is cared for. The surroundings are beautiful and the staff I have met, friendly and helpful. After visiting family in care homes over the years, this one would take some beating all round.

The team at Alexander House have been fantastic, great food fantastic rooms and great facilities. Mum's care has been second to none they have weekly events for the residents it has been amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Lovely caring staff and an amazing chef. The facilities are great I am able to make Mum drinks in the kitchen on the same floor and the whole caring team works together. It could pass as a five-star hotel, you are free to come and go without hassle.

I have been fortunate to find at very short notice a home from home for my lovely mum. The transition from hospital to Alexander House has been amazing, nothing is too much trouble, lovely caring staff and an amazing chef. The facilities are great and the whole caring team working together in care.
