Over four visits this spring, my wife and I have been consistently impressed by the warm, welcoming atmosphere and outstanding care at Willowbrook View in Swindon. In newly landscaped grounds near canal towpaths, it offers peaceful outdoor activity and easy access to local amenities, including a nearby
pub/restaurant and Waitrose. A memorable moment was seeing two herons while our grandson joyfully pushed his Great Great Uncle along the tow-path, a heartwarming, multi-generational experience.

Inside, the care continues. Staff are genuinely kind and attentive to both residents and visitors, creating a true sense of community. The food is exceptional, and the bistro and bar team go above and beyond to provide compassionate service in a relaxed, uplifting setting. The interiors are beautifully maintained, and we were pleased to see my uncle finish a tailored exercise session with the in-house physical trainer.

Willowbrook View feels like a five-star hotel-with all the warmth of home.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.060) out of 10 for Willowbrook View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Willowbrook View is calculated as follows: ( (11 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 11 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.06 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Willowbrook View is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 registered maximum number of service users is 16.8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.8 = 0.06

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I love my role because it allows me to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives every day. Creating moments of joy and connection for residents and their families is a key part of my role and is incredibly rewarding.

I take pride in creating events that bring comfort, happiness, and a sense of community, knowing that even small gestures can have a big impact. It’s a privilege to be part of such a rewarding and compassionate environment.

I’m most looking forward to bringing my creativity and sense of fun to the role, creating unique and engaging experiences that cater to all abilities and create lasting memories. With my passion for well-being and engagement, I aim to create events that enrich residents’ lives both emotionally and socially. I am committed to understanding individual needs and ensuring every resident feels supported and part of a caring community.

Before working in the care industry, I was a team manager for a retail store, where I honed my organisational and leadership skills. While I enjoyed working with people and creating a positive environment, my true passions were realised in my leadership of in-store events, engagement, and well-being.

I wanted to transition into a role where I could create a truly meaningful difference in people’s lives, which has led me to the care industry and to the Events Manager role. I feel this will be an incredibly rewarding change.

To me, the most important part of a Care Home is the residents and their families. I like to feel that with my help, new residents starting their next chapter have a smooth transition and their loved ones' concerns and worries are put at ease. My Mother is in a care home I can see from both sides how a good care home should operate.

I love a “to-do” list and even more, I love to tick the items off the list. Being organised is part of my day-to-day life - not just at work. It gives me great satisfaction to know that keeping on top of everything ensures, that with my help, the Home will run efficiently and smoothly.

Even though I have only worked in care for just under a year I was delighted to be nominated for recognition at a Regional British Care Awards;

At Willowbrook View I support the safety and smooth running of building maintenance and compliance, making a difference to all future residents and their families.
