We were looking for somewhere for my sister for respite care following emergency major surgery. When she arrived she needed help with most things but within a week she was able to walk, shower and do normal day to day things herself. The care given was exceptional. The home itself is exceptional and
of a high standard. I am so grateful to have found this place and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I was very wary at coming to a care home, but after 5 weeks in hospital I couldn't walk unaided and was very weak. The care home has given me confidence back and looked after me excellently. I cannot thank them enough. You certainly have changed my opinion on care homes. Keep up the good work.

My Mum is 84 and diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The staff at Elizabeth Gardens have been wonderful. They are genuinely caring and kind. In my absence they care for my mother as if she were their own. The building itself is beautifully decorated and totally practical. Joining in with various activities
is very much encouraged. My Mum has taking up flower arranging and exercise classes which she would never have done before!! She loves all the activities bingo, visits with young children, singing and many more. Recently my Mum was taken ill, the way the care home dealt with the issue was exceptional and this was recognised by the ambulance service. The dining facilities and quality of food available is also excellent and as visitors we often book ourselves in to join Mum for lunch and a glass of wine. The staff literally cannot do enough. As you can see from this glowing review, I would highly recommend. Also, just to make life easy, it has plenty of parking !!!
Reply from Linda Simpson, Home Manager at Elizabeth Gardens Care HomeThank you for your fabulous feedback. It is great to hear you are happy with all aspects of our home and that you feel your mum is in safe hands at Elizabeth Gardens. It is a pleasure and an honour to have her with us.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.642)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.642) out of 10 for Elizabeth Gardens Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Elizabeth Gardens Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.642 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Elizabeth Gardens Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 15 = 0.267
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello, my name is Gemma, and I am the Client Services Manager here at Elizabeth Gardens.

With over 9 years of experience as a Customer Service Manager in a care home setting, I bring a strong background in delivering exceptional service with compassion and empathy. My career began in retail as a Department Manager at House of Fraser, where I developed a strong foundation in customer care and team leadership. Alongside this, I also trained as a hair and make-up stylist and spent time working in a photography studio, creating makeovers and helping people feel their best.

My passion for customer service was instilled in me from a young age by my parents, who taught me the true value of making others feel special. While I remain proud of my qualifications in styling, my heart truly lies in supporting older people.

Helping individuals find their forever home, a place where they can thrive, enjoy life to the fullest and continue to chase their dreams is what drives me every day. One of my most treasured memories is helping a 94-year-old resident experience her very first flight. Her joy and excitement reminded me that it’s never too late to live fully or to make dreams come true.

I believe in creating meaningful moments, building trust with families and ensuring every resident feels valued, respected and truly at home.

I look forward to welcoming you to Elizabeth Gardens soon.

Hello, my name is Karen, and I am the Residential Dementia Care Manager here at Elizabeth Gardens.

My passion for dementia care came about at 14 years old when I saw the lack of support available for my grandparents during their time of need. From that moment, I knew I wanted to do something that would make a difference in the lives of those living with dementia, and I have been trying to do so ever since! I have been dedicated to the care sector since leaving school and have a Master's in Dementia Studies.

For me, care is about the little things that make a big impact, whether that be a reassuring presence or a passing smile. I am deeply committed to supporting the most vulnerable individuals in our society, and I believe there is no better feeling than knowing you have made somebody's day a bit brighter.

Outside of work, I lead a full and active life. I am a big sports enthusiast, and I love both netball and football. I am also a qualified England netball umpire! When I am not on the court or pitch, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends.

I am thrilled to be part of the Elizabeth Gardens team, and I am excited to bring my expertise to this new home so we can provide a truly person-centred approach to care.
