Reviews

9.3 Carey Lodge has a Review Score of 9.3 (9.279)

The Review Score of 9.3 (maximum of 10) for Carey Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Carey Lodge in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.679 for Carey Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.679

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Carey Lodge is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 15 positive Reviews (75 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 9 Reviews ÷ 15 Target = 0.600

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My wife was admitted to Carey Lodge during September. I have nothing but praise for the way she was treated, both during the process of admission and making her feel comfortable in her new surroundings. My wife has a benign brain tumor and Alzheimer's and before going to Carey Lodge she was immobile. Due to activities in the home, her brain has been stimulated to the extent that she is now able to shuffle around, albeit attended, with a walking frame. I have no reason to express my opinion of Carey Lodge other than excellent all round.

My mum had been a resident of Carey lodge for almost 2 years. Unfortunately, she has now passed away. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and respect that they gave mum and my family on the day. I always knew that mum was safe, being looked after and secure. My daughter's and I would totally recommend this home if anybody was enquiring.

Although I am happy overall with the care my mother gets, I am unhappy that she was showered and had her hair washed but the carer didn't use a hairdryer on her hair. An 89-year-old lady was left with wet hair! Totally unacceptable.

Stuart Robb, Business Development Executive at Carey Lodge responded to this review on 11 Aug 2017:

“Whilst we are pleased to read the overall comments about the home it is very disappointing that a resident did not receive the care that clearly she should have expected. Please be assured that this matter has been discussed with the team member concerned.” Clare Hedge, home manager Carey Lodge

The staff at Carey Lodge are outstanding. The care and support they provided my Grandma and family was above and beyond. Words cannot express how grateful I am to all of the staff who cared for her right until the very end when she passed away peacefully surrounded by people who cared.
When walking into Carey Lodge there is a sense of warmth, worth and wellbeing for both residents and visitors.

I cannot fault Carey lodge on the care they provide for my grandma. The staff are so polite and friendly, the place is always clean and tidy, and I feel my grandma is well looked after and safe, which in turn helps me and my family to feel confident and happy.
