Reviews

9.6 Ashingdon Hall has a Review Score of 9.6 (9.628)

The Review Score of 9.6 (maximum of 10) for Ashingdon Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 16 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Ashingdon Hall in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.628 for Ashingdon Hall is calculated as follows: ( (126 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 191 Ratings = 4.628

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashingdon Hall is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 3.6 positive Reviews (18 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 15 Reviews ÷ 3.6 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

I am fairly settled here and generally find that the staff respond to requests for assistance quite well. However, on occasions request for assistance has not been followed up on.
There is a good range of activities on offer.

Lianne Parkin, Manager at Ashingdon Hall responded to this review on 22 Aug 2017:

We are very sorry to hear that on occasion requests have not been followed up, unfortunately at times things can become very busy and due to human error forgetfulness can occur.
I will endeavour to deal with this though, thank you for bringing this to my attention.

My mother is well cared for by the staff at Ashindon Hall. She is looked after and her needs provided for. There is regular entertainment and the food is well prepared and varied to meet the needs of each individual. The standard of all the support is excellent and all the needs for each resident are catered for by a friendly, efficient and well-trained staff.

When looking for a care home for my mum, I was very anxious and obviously wanted to choose one that cared for her as I would. With Ashingdon Hall, I have found the perfect place. Visiting with mum and my husband before finalising the move set all my worries straight. Staff care for me as well as looking after mum with love, compassion and respect. You will not find a better care home!

We searched extensively for a suitable care home for our mother who suffers from dementia and finds it difficult to look after herself. Ashingdon Hall really stood out for all the right reasons. The staff genuinely care. The residents have as much independence as they like, but with excellent support where needed.
Ashingdon Hall feels like a large house, very friendly and with excellent food. I would highly recommend but the greatest compliment is when my mum says "I'm so lucky to be here."

During April, I had a short spell in the hospital. When I returned to the home, the care and support from staff were second to none.

Mum settled well into Ashingdon Hall and is very well cared for and supported by all the staff. She is always telling me how lovely all the staff are. At times, Mum needs a bit more support and a cuddle and staff have always been on hand to provide this and have always spent the time with her that has been asked for, no matter what time, day or night. Mum enjoys the activities and entertainment, always joining in. I have always found the staff very friendly and respectful whenever I visit. The first time I visited Ashingdon Hall I know it was the right place for her. It is a small friendly care home and I wold recommend it.

Having looked at a few of the local care homes in our area for my sister, it was decided by her twin daughters that this is the perfect place.
Our reasons for this were that this is a lovely old premises, offering the best in terms of comfort, personal love and attention which is exactly what she seeks.
The manager and all the staff give her this.
The other places we looked at were good but too clinical for her needs.

As a family, we moved dad here after he'd spent 5 years elsewhere. That alone could have been a problem but dad had clearly become unhappy there.
Having spoken to the staff here they understood our concerns, they invited him along for a trial, allowing his son in law to accompany him.
By the end of that dad had reached his own decision and he has spent the past 12months nearer to us all and content with the care he is given.
All the staff are friendly, diligent, concerned and caring. Can't ask for more really.

Vert satisfied overall, no complaints, staff genuine carers. My only thing is it would be nice if a staff member could spend a bit more time with the residents interacting more. However, they do have someone come most days to amuse them for an hour or so.

This care home is second to none. All the staff are so caring and thoughtful, not only to residents but to resident's families and friends that visit. Nothing is too much trouble. I totally would recommend this lovely home to anyone looking for a small family run home for their relative. My Mum has been here nearly two years and we all are made to feel part of one big family. The food is all home cooked and the activities are varied. Perfect!

Ashingdon Hall has cared for my dad for just over three years and the care is second to none. The meals are lovely and home cooked and with an owner who genuinely takes an interest in her residents, it truly is a wonderful place. The staff also have to be praised for their caring and devotion. Dad is now totally bedbound and again nothing is too much trouble for anyone.

Mum has been a resident at Ashingdon Hall for over a year. Throughout that time her care has been excellent with staff understanding the way she wishes to be cared for and allowing her to be as independent as possible. Food is always of a very high standard, with choices available at each meal. Visitors are welcome at any time of the day and I have seen family members sympathetically accommodated overnight when their relatives are very unwell. An established staff team work well together offering residents a personal key worker system of care. The building is located on top of a hill overlooking a stunning view down to the river and surrounded with lovely gardens. There are various activities arranged for the residents and include outings to the local pub on special occasions and barbecues in the summer. This is a great "home from home" and feels welcoming as soon as the door is opened!

I'd like say a couple words about the care my aunt gets at Ashingdon Hall care home. I went in last Sunday to see her and my visit best sums up the whole way the home is run. When I arrived I could smell the most fantastic roast dinner cooking. The smell was mouth watering. I was asked by the carer if myself and my wife would like to join my aunt for Sunday Lunch. It was absolutely scummy. A real unexpected treat.

That best sums up the home, staff and managers at the home. With all you hear in the news about the state of care in the UK. Ashingdon Hall is a real unexpected treat. I would happily recommend it. All the staff are great. However my personal favorite is a senior carer, she is one of the kindest, most supportive people you can meet. I'm glad my aunt has this level of support, care and kindness around her.
