My wife spent 14 nights at Lydgate for respite care to allow me to take a holiday. I found the management to be professional and staff friendly. The whole atmosphere was excellent and welcoming.

My mum initially went to Lydgate Lodge for respite care due to the progression of Alzheimers greatly affecting her safety at home. Every aspect of mums stay has been a positive one. Each and every member of the team are just wonderful and do an amazing job. They are warm friendly and approachable. They know my mum so well, she loves to have a cheeky chat with them! I am confident & happy that mums needs are met with care, compassion & dignity. The wellbeing of families & loved ones are also met with thoughtfulness. The management deal with any issues promptly & professionally. Each event is extremely well managed. The effort to make them special is amazing. My particular favourite was Mother's Day. It was such a lovely day. The decision to make mum a permanent resident was the toughest thing I have ever had to do. A year on, I know it was the best and right & only option for both mum & myself. A massive THANK YoU team Lydgate. You're all stars in my eyes.

Overall Experience

Having spent almost 3 years in Lydgate Lodge Care Home mum sadly passed away on the 29 May 2026. It was so lovely to see both staff and other residents at mum's funeral yesterday. The care that she received at Lydgate Lodge was fantastic. Many of the carers became her friends and she looked forwards to the daily and often cheeky interactions that took place from both sides. As mum finally started to slip away they treated her with sensitivity, dignity, respect and a deep sense of compassion. Many of the staff were as distressed by her passing, as our family was. Those staff who cared for mum, throughout her stay at Lydgate Lodge, should be so proud of themselves for the care that they gave her, which was filled with love and selflessness. They were all a credit to their profession. Thank you. x

The whole staff team have been extremely kind and supportive to Dad throughout his respite/rehabilitation stay at Lydgate Lodge. It was a great relief to have this period between hospital and returning home, enabling him to regain some mobility and confidence whilst in a safe and pleasant environment.
The staff were all very friendly, genuine, and visibly happy in their roles; providing kind support to the residents.
They strived to help Dad engage socially whilst respecting his sometimes need for his own quiet space.

Thank you to all.

Mum has been a resident since November 2025 we have been very impressed with the care provided at Lydgate Lodge, nothing is too much for the staff, who go above and beyond to ensure all mums needs are met. The surroundings and furnishings are very comfortable and good quality but most important of all, mum is very happy living there. Another important thing to mention is the entertainment there is an excellent entertainment itinerary, Zoe works very hard to ensure there is a varied itinerary.

The entire staff at Lydage Lodge has been excellent. The patience and sympathetic nature of all staff cannot be higher. The dining, entertainment likewise. But above all it is the staff who deserve all the praise (the business end of elderly care) from both of us- many thanks to all. My wife Pauline has loved every minute of her stay.

Overall Experience

Lydgate Lodge had really nice 'feel' about it from my first visit. The staff are great and always had time for a chat it I ever needed to ask anything. A big positive was the consistency of carers I got to know them on first name terms which made it so much easier on some pretty tough visits. Nothing is ever perfect but the manahement were always open to listening to any concerns, although it was only a few months of care we couldn't wish for a better final few months for our loved family member.

On my first visit to Lydgate to look around I was very impressed by the home and friendliness of all the staff. Offered a drink and biscuits on arrival. The whole building back inside and out is immaculate. Everything shown online and in the brochure is true unlike some homes. Did not hesitate to allow my ex along with his sister to go into Lydgate to be cared for. He is settled and very happy.

My father was in an emergency respite and needed a permanent care home. We looked at Lydgate Lodge and was greeted by the lovely staff member who talked to us showed us where my dad would be if stayed here. Wow was our reply. Just how clean and the way the staff interacted with people. My dad was on first floor when he moved in and was not has bad has most people of first floor so said would move in to ground floor and love it.

I cannot praise the staff at Lydgate Care Home Soothill enough. They are always so friendly when we visit my daughters Gran every week & they've been totally professional when dealing with "sensitive" issues, making the right choice We love that they've made the home look so lovely this Easter, with decorations making it look so inviting and fun. It's lovely knowing that when we go every week, the staff esp Ben, Lisel, Stacey & Jodie are so very kind, caring & understanding and always welcoming, that we definitely know that my daughters Gran is been cared for brilliantly & well looked after, just how she should be. This brings great comfort. To all the staff thank you, each one of you are angels. Happy Easter all of you. #thosethatcare #brilliantcarers

My sister recently went into the home for a trial period. She was so undecided whether it was for her. However she has really enjoyed her stay, and hopes to return in the near future. Everything about the home, staff, room, food etc cannot be praised too highly and I have felt confident in the care and support both her and myself have received. Nothing was too much trouble, lovely relaxed atmosphere 20/10 for care.
