Run by highly-qualified and experienced carers, care is personalised to the needs of each individual. All of Lydgate Lodge's rooms are en-suite and come with telephone point, internet access and mini fridge as standard. Each room is also equipped with a flat screen television, digital TV channels and personal DVD player.

Entertainment and activity programmes catering for a range of hobbies and interests, including a light social programme, are available for residents to participate in. With its own hairdressing salon, delicious home cooked food specially developed for us by a nutritionist.

A choice of TV or quiet lounges, a family room for personal gatherings and landscaped gardens, are all available for use during family visits. Lydgate Lodge provides a great place to live and visit.

My Husband has been in the care home for respite care for two weeks. On visiting, I found he was clean and happy. The food looked very good and I think ate most things. His bedroom was very pleasant and clean. His clothes had been washed and put on hangers in the wardrobe. The staff were very good and nothing was too much trouble for them. The other residents seemed happy. I am hoping that my Husband will be able to come here again in the near future.

From the interview with my mother-in-law to her settling in, the service was very friendly, helpful and professional.

This initial look round was conducted really well with staff having very friendly and helpful. On the day of moving in, the transfer was handled really well, staff very helpful.

Care is good. The main problem is hearing aids. Everytime she gets some the disappear. She is very deaf so it's a problem.
Slippers also disappear although we don't know if she moves them herself.

My mother has been a resident in the home for nearly three years and is very settled and comfortable. The home is very friendly with excellent management and care staff who treat all residents with extreme dignity. The home is very clean and the rooms are of a good size and well appointed with en-suite facilities.

There are nice public areas and quiet rooms for residents and relatives to use for quality one to one time. Regular entertainment, craft classes, communal meals and activities are provided along with organised trips outside the home.

Overall, a lovely environment for residents and relatives alike providing excellent care and facilities.

To the best of my knowledge, the care provided to my 99-year-old aunt, who suffers from dementia, is very good.
She is kept clean and tidy, appears to be well nourished and healthy and issues are kept on top of.
As a self-funding resident, the cost of care will always be an issue and as national costs go, this care home gives satisfactory value for money.

The home is run by a Registered Manager, and she receives excellent support from a Front of House Manager who has managed care homes herself. The current crop of care staff is excellent and as good as we have seen. As a team, they are kind, compassionate and attentive, and are willing to help in any way they can. The kitchen staff provide food to the highest standard and always go that extra mile to make occasions special. Other support staff work hard to ensure the home is always kept clean and well maintained.

Activities take place and my grandmother particularly enjoys the singers who include dance into their routine, and the visiting schoolchildren with whom she draws and paints, and makes objects.

The company are introducing online care planning which will enable residents and relatives to better access information when reviewing care plans and will reduce paperwork for staff, allowing them to spend more time with residents.

My mother is 100 years old and has resided here 7 years. I visit every day except when on holiday. When I am away, I worry about her as I want her underwear changing a few times a day when wet. I always change her when I am here. I buy a large quantity of disposable underwear.
I also notice occasionally she does not have her 2 hearing aids in or teeth not in.

Everything was excellent - impressive entrance hall, welcoming feel and no smells! Staff friendly to all, as were office staff, seemed to have a good rapport with all residents and know their needs, they had dad sussed out very quickly.
I had seriously avoided care homes because of experiences in my line of work but was forced into it by dad's sudden deterioration in health.
I would not be afraid to send him for respite if the need arose again.

Staff are always pleasant. They have some difficult residents and deal with them in a very pleasant way to re-direct. I would highly recommend this care home, highly recommend this car home, having viewed most care homes in the area. By far the best.

I am very pleased with the overall level of care and support dad receives.

The home is always clean, though at time his own room could benefit from a deep clean.

Dad has always eaten traditional meals. Meat and 2 veg. The food is certainly to his taste.

My mum had a significant deterioration in her general health following a spell in hospital and the demands on staff and management of the home increased significantly. They took on a lot of extra work in ensuring my mums increased needs were met and others e.g Doctors, District Nurses provided the support needed.

I was recommended to Lydgate Lodge by a fellow carer whose wife was already here, so I made enquiries for my wife. She was assessed and considered suitable, so moved in almost straight away. That was in February 2016. I have been so impressed with the care and dedication of the manager and staff since my wife came in and I have no hesitation in recommending the home to future residents.

My dad is 86 and now a new resident of Lydgate Lodge. He has settled well and the staff are fantastic. Every resident is treated with respect and made to feel valued. The staff keep me updated and they are very approachable. The rooms are well kept and nicely decorated. Overall the home is very welcoming and homely. Lovely place, dad has been well looked after both physically and foodwise and Lydgate Lodge has everything an elderly person could want or need. The staff have been exceptional apart from one girl who had a bit of an attitude. Problem one Sunday afternoon when my brother and his wife were visiting dad. I think she preferred to go and have a cigarette! I would definitely recommend to anyone who requires respite like dad or being a resident. Thank you for looking after my dad. It is very much appreciated.

A delightful care home, built to the highest standards with plenty of communal rooms on each floor. Walking into the reception area is like being on a cruise ship with imposing stairs leading to the 1st floor. The staff are attentive at all times, providing the level of care that you would give to a close relative. It's like living in a 5-star hotel with great food and service. Well done everyone.

From the day we went to look around Lydgate Lodge to the day we went to clear dads room, we have been shown nothing but support, care and friendship. Dad spent 6 months at Lydgate and it gave him a new lease of life. He was encouraged to join in and also left alone when he needed to be. I was told that Lydgate Lodge was dad's home and the staff were visitors. Each and every one of the staff did a great job and I couldn't have asked for a better way for dad to spend his last months.

My mum has spent the last two years at Lydgate Lodge and has always been happy and content there. The staff have always been courteous, kind and treated mum with respect. Staff always treat the residents as individuals and encourage them to make their own decisions, regarding what they want to wear, food choices, entertainment and bed time. They always knock on the bedroom doors before entering, provide comfort when needed and love always. The food is amazing and of a very high standard, there is regular entertainment, pop-up restaurants occasionally, a café and trips out. It is more like a hotel than a care home.
Mum passed away in the home in November, the staff looked after me and my sister as well as mum. They did not interfere but left us to be with mum until the end and then dealt with everything for us in a very professional but kind and considerate way.

At present I am very happy for my mum to stay in Lydgate Lodge, my mum seems more settled there now. The home is very clean and comfortable, the food looks very good and mum seems to enjoy it. I would like to say a big THANK YOU to the management and staff for their efforts in improving Lydgate Lodge over the past three months. When I visited my mother at Lydgate Lodge she had really enjoyed her day. The residents had been baking and decorating the buns they had made and she looked so happy. Her day got even better when it was her turn (all residents have a turn) to enjoy a special meal. It was 'steak night' and the kitchen staff and staff had gone to great lengths to make it special, complete with an entertainer. The cafe had been turned into a restaurant and when I left they were enjoying a shandy and a good laugh. Management and staff are really working hard to make life good at Lydgate with many activities. I drove home with a big smile on my face that said, thank you.

My Aunt has been unsettled and not behaving very well (The only way I can describe it) for a few weeks now, due to her dementia. Assessments have been made and a profile bed has now been obtained for her. She has only had the bed for two days and the difference in her is tangible. She seems to be more aware and taking notice, and happier with herself. I believe that this has a lot to do with the new manager, plus the help of the carers. The staff are really caring from the carers to the front desk. Thank you to everyone at the home.

The new manager has made a big difference to Lydgate, the atmosphere is much better and seems more homely. The home is much brighter and seems livelier. Any issues that arise I know that they will be dealt with in a caring professional way, and that I can trust the manager to have my mothers best interests at heart.
It is a big relief to know that my mum is in good hands. I know it is still early days but I am sure Lydgate is going to be one of the best homes in Yorkshire, if not the UK. Thanks to everyone for making my mum's 100th birthday such a success.

Thank you for taking the time to review Lydgate Lodge. Ideal Carehomes appreciates all feedback about our homes and activities within our homes have recently been reviewed. Due to the new activities schedule the residents are very active, however, some do like to take a power nap, as is their choice. As with any visitor to the home, we recognise that they only see a very small window as to what is happening at any given time and so invite people to spend the day with us, enjoy a meal and partake in activities so that they get a real ‘flavour’ as to what daily life is about. With regards the cleaning activities, some of our residents enjoy daily chores such as hoovering their rooms, dusting, washing up and preparing drinks, and we support them to do so, if they wish. After checking various homes in the local area. I was very impressed on my first visit to Lydgate Lodge. I arranged respite for my partner and that has turned into permanent residency. The building is very spacious and airy in all areas, very clean and no smells as in most care homes. The staff are very friendly, caring and also very professional. I don't think I could find a better place to cater for my partners needs. I am so pleased I found Lydgate Lodge.

The overall standard of care is extremely good and the carers are excellent. However there is sometimes a lack of attention to detail, eg. call button, telephone, books and magazines left out of reach/ out of sight of residents who are immobile.
This hasn't, thankfully, caused a problem so far as we are aware, but could potentially. Communication could be better but this matter seems to be in hand under the new manageress.
Likewise, hopefully there will be an improvement in activities offered - both in variety and consistency. It would be nice if e.g activities menus, services available were communicated via the website and via newsletters etc.

Great home and fantastic staff that are very caring to my mother. Always a smile and welcome and available to discuss anything with you. We have noticed a big change since October 2015 and the atmosphere is very friendly and the staff appear much happier.
They do a great job and we feel happier knowing mum is getting great care.

This is the first evaluation form completed since my Mum went into Lydgate, so long overdue. I have had to initiate two review meetings within this period, both of which seemed satisfactory. Generally Mum is content with everything although complains about having to wait long periods for toilet etc. Staff seem very nice on the whole, some more attentive than others. Housekeeping not always good enough in room. Issues raised are not always dealt with or maintained and I am still flagging the same things after 2 years. All that said it is a pleasant home with a nice atmosphere. More evaluation opportunities needed.

My mum is happier and well looked after and fed. Since moving in, staff are nice and look after her, and gets on with the other residents. The bedroom is nice and comfortable.

I have been highly satisfied with the care and support my father has received since his admission in October 2015. In particular the facilities, furniture, fixtures of the building are excellent. My father really enjoys the food he is provided and has put on weight! concerns I do have is the fact that 'confused' residents can wander in and our of other residents rooms, taking items that do not belong to them. I do not feel there is always enough staff members around and I have never met the manager! Communicating any issues in relation to my father is haphazard and no clear consistent process to do this.
