My mother has been a resident for almost 3 years now at De Brook and we could not wish for a better place for her to be.cared for The staff are all fantastic and take the time and effort to ensure my mum is well looked after, and happy . There are lots of activities provided for the residents and
it is great to see them all happy and smiling. The home is always very clean and well maintained and the rooms are all decorated to make it very homely. The food always looks delicious too with lots of choices and variety and all freshly cooked on site.

I want to give a huge shoutout to a particular member of staff who always goes above and beyond to care for the residents and make sure their emotional and physical needs are met. This staff member always has a smile on her face, nothing is too much trouble and spends time speaking to the residents
individually. Mum hadn't had a proper bath in years and she took the time and trouble to arrange this for her which I know she thoroughly appreciated. She always makes sure Mum is well presented and gives each resident her personal touch. She is definitely a huge asset to the team. I would like to ensure she gets some recognition for her work and the exceptional care she provides.

I am very impessed with De Brook. My dad has settled in well. The staff are kind and compassionate. The staff take an interest in my Dad's family. They are friendly and approachable. The home is clean and well-maintained and has a homely atmosphere. The rooms are bright and good. De Brook allows residents
to personalise their space. The food choices are excellent and varied. Everything cooked on site, everything fresh and looks delicious! A wide range of activities are offered daily to keep residents engaged and stimulated. Families are welcome to participate in the activities. I would highly recommend De Brook to anyone looking for a supportive and caring environment for their loved one.

De Brook Lodge is an outstanding Care Home. I have never worried about my mum being a resident, I had 100% trust that she would be looked after with care and dignity. There were various activities on offer together with outings. Mum never wanted for anything, the staff attended to her every need and
were extremely vigilant with her as she became more frail. All the staff, from Management down, knew their clients and their specific needs. All staff could be seen in the lounges chatting to their residents. Visitors were made to feel welcome and there was always a smile on staff faces. I cannot recommend this care home enough.

In summer of 2023, I visited De Brook Lodge without an appointment. Immediately, I was welcomed warmly by the front of house manager and, after an initial informal chat, was able to have a look around. My first impression was all the staff are so caring, the residents are able to engage in organised
and stimulating activities if they wish and it was spotless. The manager is so friendly and approachable and goes out of his way to make your loved one feel very at home. The nursing manager is also friendly and very knowledgeable about her job, giving little tips on how to approach what is often a very hard decision to make. All the nursing staff went out of their way to make my mum's first week a very positive experience, everyone seems to know her name and who she is, even if they don’t work directly with her. I can only say that De Brook Lodge really is a home from home and I can relax a little knowing I’ve done the best for my mum and that she is in a safe and caring environment.

I have been extremely pleased with my mum's care at De Brook. There are plenty of activities and opportunities to talk to staff. My mum seems to have taken to it very well and has barely noticed that her surroundings have changed since she moved from her own home in October. I have no worries about
leaving her each time I visit, as I know she is safe there.

Finding a suitable care home was very difficult for our family, but De Brook Lodge ticked all the boxes. My mother in law moved in recently and honestly we cannot be more pleased with our decision. It is a lovely home with even more lovely staff who go the extra mile to make residents feel comfortable
and cared for. The young lady with blonde hair who is the senior on the ground floor especially impressed me. She clearly excels in her role as leader but also is not afraid to do the dirty work which was a surprise. All staff on ground floor are well drilled and all residents are extremely well looked after. It is clear this lady inspires those around her. My mother in law loves being here and we as a family feel safe and secure that she is being looked after correctly. Thank you De Brook Lodge.

My dad resides at DeBrook Lodge. My brother and sister-in-law found this fantastic elderly placement/care home. The staff are warm, welcoming and friendly (all staff). I'd like to thank all the staff on the ground floor but one person, in particular, I would like my gratitude to go to (she's a star).
My
dad and this staff member seemed to hit it off straight away, my dad is happy and took a shine to her, her company, compassion, care and professionalism are a credit to her hard work and dedication.
I myself feel extremely happy that he has struck a bond with this staff member and all other staff. My dad is happy, I'm happy.
The establishment is lovely with recent new kitchens and lovely dining areas.
If I needed to be cared for I would go to De Brook Lodge I think it's a happy home. Thank you all.

The management are very approachable and friendly and nothing is a problem. My mother is very happy with her surroundings and always says the staff and food are lovely. She is comfortable and feels secure. In my opinion, at times it is obvious there is a shortage of staff, basic tasks are sometimes
performed, cleaning of rooms is poor and sometimes care is lacking ie showering often, this is not consistent. Some chatting and music and tv sound would help the residents feel more at home.

The reason why I chose De Brook Lodge as temporary respite for my father is simple. Firstly, I was welcomed with an open-door policy, by the manager, to have a look around without an appointment. Confidence there's nothing to hide. The decor is fresh, clean, open and inclusive. Staff naturally shared
their lived experiences of family members, past and present, enjoying living here. The rooms are equivalent to hotel standards. The care and supportive considerations from staff to residents are effortlessly observed. A totally inclusive care home.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We always aim to deliver the complete package for our residents and we are so pleased that we could meet your expectations and live up to your naturally high standards. Our open-door policy is essential for making residents and their families feel safe and reassured and, as you quite rightly point out, we certainly have nothing to hide. We hope to welcome your father back for any future respite needs or even just for a cuppa.

Today I visited a friend on the second floor. There were four lovely staff on duty, but the activities coordinator was outstanding in the way she interacted with the clients, encouraging and praising them as they played a game and including the non-participating clients as well. My mother has had to be discharged with no accommodation because the previous home we had chosen would not take her due to her needs, even though they previously said they would. We went to De Brook Lodge where they were kind and extremely helpful and one staff member, in particular, showed us great

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.559)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.559) out of 10 for De Brook Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.794 for De Brook Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (88 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.794
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.765 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for De Brook Lodge is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.865
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
