De Brook Lodge is a purpose built home in Flixton, specialising in residential and dementia care, run by highly qualified and experienced carers. Care is personalised to the needs of each individual.

All of De Brook's rooms are en-suite and come with telephone point, internet access and mini-fridge as standard. Each room is also equipped with a flat screen television, digital TV channels and personal DVD player.

Entertainment and activity programmes catering for a range of hobbies and interests, including a light social programme are available for residents to participate in. Delicious home-cooked food is specially developed by a nutritionist.

A choice of TV or quiet lounges is available for gatherings, as well as a contemporary on-site hair salon and landscaped gardens. De Brook Lodge provides a great place to live and visit.

De Brook Lodge provides a modern, well-maintained environment in which the residents live. The rooms are spacious, clean, as is the home generally. The carers carry out a multitude of tasks with sensitivity despite what is to an outsider, challenging circumstances that the residents sometimes present.

Due to the majority of the residents having dementia type symptoms, the residents who do fortunately have their mental facilities can find it a lonely experience - in that there are few people on each of the 3 floors with whom a conversation can be had.
Some care homes group such residents together as opposed to them being spread over 3 floors in order to promote social interaction. This doesn't seem to be the case in De Brook.

After looking at several care homes for my mum, De Brook outshone every one by far.

I know my mum is well treated and very well looked after.

As a family, we know we have made the right choice. She is very content and loves all the activities and outings, which is very important to us.

All the staff are lovely and Mum is treated with respect.

My mother suffers with dementia and is treated well here. She seems very settled and although her weight goes up and down, the staff always seem to do their utmost to ensure she eats. On the whole, we are happy with her care. Sometimes I feel there isn't enough staff on. At weekends there is no-one on reception so if it's busy waiting to get in can be an issue. A junior to man the door would help.

De Brook Lodge have provided excellent care and made the transition from home to care so much easier. The care staff have all been of a high standard, both professional and caring in their work but also friendly and always happy to talk to the resident or family.
The management team and front of house are always helpful, with a smile and kind word.

My visit was during the day in April and was unannounced. There was a birthday celebration and all the staff encouraged all the residents to engage in a sing song and dance.

Management staff got involved themselves and there was a truly happy feeling with everyone enjoying themselves.

Whatever the resident could do either, clapping, singing, dancing, the staff went around them all and involved them. You could tell by their smiles they were having a good time.

This is a magnificent care home. The management and staff are second to none and my sister and I are extremely happy with the care provided to my mother. I would certainly recommend De Brook Lodge Ideal Homes to anyone who has a relative in need of residential care.

My Mum is 94 and she has been at De Brook for two or three years. The carers are very good with her. Getting her up in the morning - which is very hard work! Showering her and generally doing everything I can't do.
She is very well fed and looked after and I feel reassured that she's in a comfortable safe environment. She often says that she's "lucky to be in such lovely surroundings" which are indeed light airy and modern.

All aspects of my mum's individual care needs are catered for to the highest standard at De Brook Lodge. My mum has always had a healthy appetite and enjoyed her food, and the catering is excellent, nutritious varied and appealing, in fact 5 star hotel quality. My mum has always been very creative, as she spent her working life as a confectioner cake decorator, and the activities programme is numerous, wide-ranging and interesting, which stimulates her, which she thoroughly enjoys. De Brook is 5 star quality in every aspect of a care home and I would have no hesitation in recommending De Brook Lodge to anyone. Everything about De Brook Lodge gives me confidence and reassurance that my mum is well taken care of and is happy, contented and thoroughly enjoying living there.

Very well placed and an ideal residence for my elderly auntie which has kept her close to her family who live locally in Flixton. It's good to know that my aunt is being cared for and is in a safe environment. The quality of care as seen by myself is second to none. Great understanding and professional senior management. Highly recommended. Would be very happy to arrange my own stay here if need be. Thank you.

De Brooke Lodge is a very happy environment for my mother to live in. Many days spent with cheerful staff who work very hard in sometimes difficult circumstances. Highlights are trips out of which my mother has enjoyed trips to Safari Park, canal, boat trip and a trip to a hotel in Manchester for afternoon tea. None of these things would happen without staff care and attention and organisation. Thank you.

Stepping into De Brook Lodge was like entering a four star hotel. The reception area and reception staff were excellent. The decor and cleanliness is of an exceptionally high standard. All of the staff show kindness, friendliness and professionalism at all times and my friend is settling into his new life very quickly due to their wonderful help and patience. The food is extremely good and is thoroughly enjoyed by my friend at every meal. All the bedrooms are superb and the en-suite bathrooms are fantastic. If in the future I was in the need of a care home I could think of now where better that I would like to live.

We looked at a lot of homes for my father and after seeing De Brook Lodge, we knew that this was the one for him. He is really happy there. He has really changed. He is a different person, much happier.
He has excellent care, enjoys his meals and calls this his home. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. You can talk to them about any needs at any time.

I live at De Brook Lodge. I enjoy living here as my husband has died, I am now not lonely and have lots of friends. My room is lovely and my family can visit as often as they can.

I find the carers all very kind. They cater for my vegetarian food extremely well. I highly complement the manager and her team. I feel very lucky to be living here. I do feel at times they can be understaffed, which puts pressure on the staff that day. I don't join in activities and that is my choice and they respect that.

Our mum moved into De Brook in April 2015. The home is just lovely. We chose it with her as it is clean, safe and the staff appeared to be sincere and very caring towards the residents. She has a beautiful room with an en suite bathroom. She has made lots of friends, not just other residents, but the staff also. They are fantastic and as much as it was a difficult decision to make to get mum into residential care, I know now that it was a good decision. I know she is safe, happy and cared for in a lovely home with truly lovely and caring staff.
De Brook is a beautiful residential care home and the staff are superb. They make sure our mum gets all the things she loves, including her love of wine with her meal and a couple of brandy's and cokes before bed watching TV. I cannot recommend it enough, Its like a five star hotel with lots of love.

Since my mum moved into De Brook in February 2012, I have had peace of mind for her safety and general wellbeing. We have found the overall standard excellent! We are delighted with mums lovely bedroom, the good home-cooked food and wonderful care. Although there seems to be quite a high staff turnover a shortage on occasions. Somehow a high standard is maintained. I have found the staff to that extra mile to ensure their residents are treated withy the upmost of care an dignity and manage to have fun with them and keep them happy. The laundry is a bit of an issue, clothing disappears especially knickers, but my mum always looks clean and presentable. I have praised and recommended De Brook and its team to many people, and will continue to do so. I think its a terrific place and cannot thank all concerned enough.

2. Attrition rate high.
3. Lack of awareness of dementia from such staff.
4. Inconsistent level of support from some staff.
5. Not able to use laundry service - do own laundry as clothes lost/destroyed.
6. Handover not aligned with current status of resident.
7. Weight - measurements missing.
8. Some staff go way beyond their duty/other blatantly not interested.
9. Not correct staff ratio/residents. Residents alone in lounge.

On the whole we are happy with the care. Sometimes he smells of urine and so does his clothes. I hope that when the staff know this, they they change and shower. He will tell them that he's had a shower, he can be very persuasive. He has a habit of putting used clothes back in his drawers. I'm sure the carers are aware of this. My dad is settled there and he only has good things to say about the care home. He's happy so, so are we. Sometimes there seems to be shortage of staff on his floor.

We are reporting for a friend with dementia whom we helped to choose a home last year (2014) whilst she was able to manage with a care package in her own home. We and our friend are happy with the choice and she has settled well. The dementia has progressed but as far as we can tell she feels cared for in De Brook and is basically happy.

De Brook Lodge is a very pleasant and well run care home. The staff are friendly and dedicated. Also hygiene standards seem very high. One thing residents comment on is the quality of the food. All in all I have no complaints.

Holly has been at De Brook Lodge since 2016 and has worked in the adult social care sector for 14 years, working her way up from Activity Coordinator to her current role as Home Manager. She prides herself on ensuring that her passion for care is present in every aspect of her work, and strives to provide residents with independence and choice at all times. Holly promotes the highest standards of person-centred care throughout De Brook Lodge, and she feels privileged to look after the residents who live there. Holly has been awarded NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care, as well as many other recognised qualifications, and she uses these skills to cascade current and relevant knowledge to her staff team.

Tracy has been part of the De Brook Lodge team since October 2015. Previously, she had a very successful career in retail management, but she felt that she was ready to move into a more fulfilling job role, where she could use her current people skills, but also make a real difference and feel a sense of achievement and satisfaction at the end of each working day.

Tracy’s position as Front of House Manager at De Brook Lodge really does lead her to be at the heart of the home. She enjoys spending time with the residents to get to know them, and she likes nothing better than organising activities, games and fun which she knows will put a smile on their faces. She also gets to know relatives and visitors and is always on hand to answer any queries. Tracy is always ready to welcome guests and show them round De Brook Lodge – why not pop in for a cuppa and say hello?

Paul Fletcher

Job Title: Regional Director - North West

Paul has worked for the LNT Group for over 6 years. He first joined Ideal Carehomes in 2010 as a Home Manager, having previously managed the home when it was operated by Orchard Care Homes. Paul soon became a valued member of the team and managed two different Ideal Carehomes before being promoted to Area Manager in January 2012. Given his wealth of knowledge and experience as Area Manager, Paul was a prime candidate to become Regional Director in 2015. In this role, Paul takes a strategic lead in the oversight and development of our care homes.

Paul can frequently be found in the homes enjoying a cup of tea with residents and their families to better understand their needs whilst supporting the Home Manager to create aspirational lifestyle choices for our residents and overseeing all aspects of compliance. He gets a lot satisfaction knowing that the small changes he makes are supplementing the already excellent care being provided in the homes.

Paul has completed his NVQ Level 4 Leadership and Management in Care Services (equivalent to current NVQ Level 5) and Qualifications & Credit Framework Level 7 in Leadership and Development for Senior Management.
