Hambleton Grange in Thirsk offers high-quality residential and dementia care.

Our all inclusive fee gives peace of mind and allows residents to enjoy our facilities and services without having to worry about extra costs. I was welcomed y all the staff & residents and made it feel 'at home'. The routine of the day suits my needs and provides activities for all to take part in if they wish to. The food is excellent & well prepared and cooked. Maybe a salad occasionally would be nice! Thank you to you all.

Visit my brother, who has been there for about 18 months. He is happy. His health has improved markedly with the care from this home. I am delighted with my decision to put him there. He was in another home before that was not suitable.

Visited Hambleton Grange for the first time today. Was visiting a friend who has recently become a service user. From the offset my experience was totally positive. An attractive looking property as I arrived and a very warm welcome from the team member who met me. My visit was unannounced, however,
that caused no concern to the staff team. I had my pet dog with me who also received a warm welcome!


Made my way to my friends room, meeting another member of staff on the way. The interaction with them just felt natural. Nothing was too much trouble and great to hear that they knew my friend despite only recently moving in.


My friends room was very nice and appeared very well kept and serviced. My friend looked really well and had clearly settled in well. A different experience to visiting them in another home during a stay. Was really impressed with the communal areas. There were a wide selection and residents were making good use of the spaces.

A very warm welcome from day one. The staff are just lovely. Always a smile. Very helpful and caring.
Management are also excellent. Very good communication and always sensitive over delicate issues.
My mum was happy here and always told me how everyone was so kind.

My mother is very happy here. She has struggled with ill health. Many staff members have shown kindness and empathy as she has become less mobile. The most effective staff know when she is going down hill and call in medical support. On returning from hospital it was much appreciated that staff were
welcoming and kind. These staff should model their effective behaviour to others so that this approach runs throughout the team. Some care plan messages don't always get communicated to all staff all the time. The majority of care has helped mum.

My father in law was a resident at Hambleton Grange and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. He settled well and was looked after very well. Atmosphere in the home was always happy and friendly.

Dad resided at Hambleton for just over 5 months until he recently died. I was really impressed with the level of care he received from all the staff I met. Everybody was so helpful and showed him kindness. Recently he became very poorly and I was impressed with the quality of care and understanding
of the situation. We were kept well informed of his condition. You have a brilliant team in Thirsk, from management to carers, including activity and events coordinator. Thank you.

My Mum recently stayed for respite at Hambleton Grange and I cannot praise the staff and care home enough. From start to finish it was a very positive experience for both Mum and myself. The home had a very "warm homely" feeling and the staff were extremely caring, helpful and very kind. The activities
were amazing including Mums favourite - a trip out in the minibus! We would not hesitate to use Hambleton Grange again.

Firstly, everyone is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food and activities are very good. My brother feels very safe and comforted.

91 year old mum spent two weeks respite due to an acute illness. She was very happy there and the staff were lovely to her, allowing us as a family to relax following a traumatic, trying time. Lovely place, friendly and happy atmosphere. Just an observation, mum was reluctant to go for a bath and only
had one during her stay. I think it should be routine to ask the clients if they wanted a bath and not leave it for them to ask. The bathroom door was awkward to open into bedroom, bad design for the frail and elderly.

My brother, age 66 years old, recently was admitted to Hambleton Grange. When we arrived the manager was so accommodating, friendly and talked to us for a long time, making us feel most comfortable and has continued to reassure my brother in every way. Top lady. And all the staff have been most caring

So many activities which they encourage those that can to get involved with both on and off site. Mum almost always in their photos in their newsletter clearly enjoying herself. Would highly recommend this home.

Not ideal. We found dementia care and the understanding of dementia poor and this view was repeated by others who knew Hambleton Grange better than us.
Our 91-year-old mother was left stranded in hospital for 10 days when fit to be discharged. Distressing for her, completely the wrong place for a person
with dementia and a needless waste of public resources and total disregard for NHS - its staff were unimpressed.
Hambleton Grange/Ideal Home management shows no sign of concern - no calls to the hospital or us.
When an Ideal Home manager finally called, she apologised for apologising so much, promising an independent third-party investigation. Now, we've been told it will be an internal investigation.
Also, we found the approach to records very dubious. Once they failed to send our data despite multiple requests - we guessed it was being altered. The second time the data changed between the time when we asked the duty manager to read it to us over the phone, and the time we received a copy.

Mum has been in respite at HAMBLETON Grange for the second time. I cannot fault the home and in particular the staff and manager. They made us feel so welcome and made Mum and all of us feel at home as soon as we walked in. I can't begin to tell you what a difference that makes to us as a family contemplating
moving Mum to a care home on a more permanent basis

Lindsey joined Hambleton Grange when it opened in July 2013. Coming from a banking background, she has enjoyed the challenges which a career change brings and finds her current role particularly fulfilling. Lindsey understands the vast array of emotions felt when people come to look at the possibility of moving into residential care and accordingly she does her best to make the process of enquiring, viewing and ultimately moving as easy and stress free as possible. Her favourite part of her role is getting to know the residents and their families, and joining in with the various daily activities which are on offer at the home.
