Overall Experience
My mother was reluctant to move into a care home but she settled in at PMG enjoying her room overlooking the quiet garden at the back, watching the birds and squirrels.
All the staff are amazing - welcoming, friendly, compassionate, caring. My mother spent a lot of time smiling at them even when she found speaking difficult. They became like family to her and us.
The range of activities for residents is truly impressive with lots going on every day including coffee mornings, concerts and outings. All residents are encouraged to join in as much as they are able to, with separate appropriate activities for those who live with dementia.
The food is good with lots of choice and you can go off menu too - tuna sandwiches were all my mother ate for supper for over two years!

I am very glad we discovered PMG; it's a good place to be when you need some extra support and assistance.

I have had over 5 years of contact with PMG. They have taken excellent care of my very unwell sister. The staff are very caring and approachable, especially if you have difficult topics to discuss. The food and activities are excellent and the home has a very homely atmosphere.

I don't hesitate to recommend the nursing home , as it is never easy to see a relative go into a care home .

When I initially reviewed the care home Pine Martin Grange, I was struck by the friendly, caring staff. Also, I was impressed with the cosy, homely feel. Light and airy, modern but retaining pockets of quiet areas for chill out times. Loved the fact rooms back on to patio area. Since my mother's stay, all residents wax lyrical about the food and enjoy the activities. Staff all work above and beyond, all appear to enjoy their jobs.

Pine Martin Grange has a very friendly and caring feel from the moment you step through the door. Mum is made to feel loved by all who come into contact with her, many staff going above and beyond to ensure she is not only well cared for, but leaves each individual with a smile on her face. Every effort is made by the activities team to keep the home bright and relevant, ensuring a very welcoming atmosphere.

After an initial settling-in period mum has adjusted exceptionally well to living at Pine Martin Grange. She has really blossomed under the care of the wonderfully kind staff, everyone smiles and knows her name and asks how she is and this has resulted in mum approaching her whole day with a smile and positive attitude. She enjoys and participates in all the activities and has made some great friends amongst the other residents. My siblings and I had been doing everything possible to keep her happy and healthy in her own home but this was proving to be impossible. The level of care offered by Pine is much more suited to her well being and the social interaction is unparalleled and so beneficial. We can therefore rest easy knowing she is safe, happy and well looked after.

My father has been at PMG for more than 4 years and our family are very happy with all aspects of his care. The staff are very caring, capable and well trained. His room and clothes are always clean and well maintained. The activities staff provide stimulating and varied activities and the meals are excellent, I couldn't imagine a home that would meet his needs any better, thank you.

On a day to day basis I feel that my mum receives excellent care. It has been important for her to get to know staff and residents alike and this over a period of time has happened. The day care staff are particularly excellent, as are the activities and trips out. She is less happy about the night staff, who she feels are often rushed as they go on/off duty.

Reply from Maggie Griffith, Group Client Liaison Manager at Pine Martin Grange Care Home

Thank you for your review, I am pleased you feel the care your mum receives at Pine Martin Grange is excellent and that the activities and trips out are too. Feedback from our families is extremely important, as it ensures we continue to provide the very best care and services for our residents....

My husband needed urgent respite care after a long stay in hospital. The management team at Dormy Care found him a room at Pine Martin Grange, and within a few days he was there, it was amazing! From the first day, my husband completely felt at home. The facilities are like being in a five-star hotel, the food is excellent. My husband has a rare neurological condition and within a couple of days, all the staff had been trained to understand his needs. We were very impressed with the knowledge of the nursing staff. All the staff are just lovely, caring and supportive. He really enjoyed the physio sessions that he had twice a week in the gym. He even had a trip to the beach for ice cream. Thank you all at Pine Martin Grange.

This care home is very well appointed and comfortable but expensive if you do not need nursing as in my care after an operation to recover. The staff are very helpful and good, looking after people with all sorts of ailments.

My Aunt was at Pine Marten for what turned out to be a brief stay. On the day that she was admitted, I came away wishing that we had made the arrangements sooner. That impression only increased over the time that she was there. I live 160 miles from the home and they phoned me at home to update me on her progress. When I came back a week later I ended up staying for over 24 hours and I was made to feel so welcome and cared for and I was only a visitor! I really do wish that my aunt had been better able to experience/be aware of the care at Pine Marten for a lot longer. I sat in my aunt's room for a lot of that 24 hours and the frequency of visits by care assistants and nurses and, almost as importantly, their attitude, was excellent. If I had other relatives locally in need of care then I would put Pine Marten top of a list of ones that I would look at to recommend/arrange.

There is no doubt that this home has all the bells and whistles of a newly appointed care home. However, the needs for dementia patients were sadly lacking. My father was in the home for approximately six months. As a family we were repeatedly going in and having to clear up after my Dad's mishaps; from literally wiping excrement walked across the carpet, to regularly cleaning his bathroom, to getting him in a shower. He got a nasty eye infection from repeatedly rubbing his eye with dirty fingernails.

Admittedly my father was not the easiest of patients. As a result, he was drugged up to the eyeballs to keep him quiet. Since moving him to a different home we have been able to take him off this medication and he is much happier and calmer. In conclusion, I would say that choose carefully if your loved one is in need of a lot of care. This home will leave too many of their patients unattended for too long. I'm assuming much of it is due to too high a patient ratio to staff numbers.

Very pleased. Mum is safe, clean, fed, warm and treated with dignity.
Management/staff are very approachable and professional. Record keeping is excellent. Residents are known.
Find it a little disconcerting that residents can enter each other's rooms when doors are closed.

Overall very pleased to have found Pine Martin Grange for Mum.

The management and staff at Pine Martin Grange made great efforts to help my mother settle in when she moved in as a permanent resident after the painful decision to leave her home of 35 years. The food, surroundings and facilities are exemplary. It was a difficult journey for Mum as she's suffered issues with her health and well being but the support and care from the Pine Martin team has been tremendous.
